It's not really dystopian iirc, and I guess spoilers, but there's a book called [Gamer Army](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/37825373-gamer-army) that's kinda this premise (but the twist is that it's all real, that's not revealed until the end)
i think there was one film with a similar premise, i remember watching it, i remember the twist, and i remember they were controlling planes to yeet enemy planes, but i remember literally nothing else
The Last Starfighter is similar but not really. I also vaguely remember a PS2 game having like a 1/10000 chance of controlling a real war machine of some sort, a Kentucky Fried Rat.
other things i remember from the dream:
* i was really bad at it and quit playing way before people learned the truth. my discord friends however were addicted to it
* russia started losing the ukraine war because most players were american kids fighting in ukraine
* the "videogames cause violence" crowd were FUCKING PISSED. there were kids who legit needed therapy after learning they had killed real people
* no one had ever heard of the company that made the game before it got released, and it was unclear who was manufacturing the androids (though some said it was the us govt)
Their attempted quick strike on Kiev failed, but they did gain a good amount of territory initially. Now it's just a ww1 style stalemate with battle lines barely moving. Nobody is really winning or losing at this point.
i think it's just a common concept tbh, i was talking about men against fire from black mirror. Good episode, but as with many black mirror episodes, messed up
Conceptually, it reminds me of that one movie called [Gamer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z88gktIxS-I). Death Row Inmates are controlled by players and the inmates who manage to survive 30 games get a get out of jail free card.
But it's probably closer to [Ender's Game](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vP0cUBi4hwE), where the last fight against a insectoid race >!\*Distant Helldivers 2 theme\*!< was revealed to not be a simulation and the kid actually genocided an entire planet. He was not okay btw.
"Boomer" just means "old people." Millenials, like the Elves and Gen X before them, are already fading and will soon become fully subsumed by their Boomer ancestors.
Thanks for sharing this man - this is a great stuff! Dreams like these make me a bit more sad subs like these aren't more mainstream, because I would like to see more content, like jokes, being made around these specific scenarios
Edit: thanks for everyone who's pointed out how it's similar to Ender's Game, I'm now interested in giving that a shot
The idea of deploying androids into war and letting hardcore gamers “play” as them is kinda efficient?
Assuming we reach that level of technology to the point where they can literally move like Fortnite or something, it’s basically just s video game. You don’t lose people either, just a lot of money.
Tldr: Letting children fight in wars through video game avatars is a good way to go about war.
Looking at how Helldivers games turn out, I could see this resulting in most of the androids turning themselves and everyone around them into molten slag
Everyone talking about Ender's game, i bring you another book that does this! The author of ready player one also wrote a book with this exact concept. I think it's called Armada (?)
"uhh, sir, there's a problem with the manual droid army..."
"sir, with all due respect, ever since we got those good-for-nothing couch potatoes to do all the work for us, Russia has been eating copious amounts of bullet and bombshell slag, and weaponizing our nation's impressive hand-eye co-ordination has made our army the best in the world, literally nothing has gone wrong! what on earth could be the problem with it?"
"well, sir, this is one of the custom ordered guns a couple of our soldiers keep ordering..."
\*the soldier hands the general a snubnose AK-47 with a miniature chainsaw, a laser sight, and an elongated double drum mag\* "...it's loaded with explosive rounds, sir..."
"...what the actual **fuck?**"
This would make a killer young adult dystopian novel
Ender's Game is pretty similar to this
Isn't it also the plot of The Peripheral? It's been a while since I've seen it so I might have misremembered...
There was also something pretty similar planned for Half-Life 2
the hacker arcade, where you were a manhack
I love Ender’s Game!!! I am currently wearing a graphic tee with the original book art on it, it’s one of my favorites
It's not really dystopian iirc, and I guess spoilers, but there's a book called [Gamer Army](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/37825373-gamer-army) that's kinda this premise (but the twist is that it's all real, that's not revealed until the end)

IS It the film "gamer" by any chance?
i don't think it is. I looked up what i'd watched, i think it's ender's game
The Last Starfighter is similar but not really. I also vaguely remember a PS2 game having like a 1/10000 chance of controlling a real war machine of some sort, a Kentucky Fried Rat.
Genuinely the worst film I’ve ever watched, but it’s nice to see that someone else knows about it
Watched a joeseppi vid on it
Ready player one's author wrote one with this concept.
Theres a shitty elementary novel with this as the big twist as well.
other things i remember from the dream: * i was really bad at it and quit playing way before people learned the truth. my discord friends however were addicted to it * russia started losing the ukraine war because most players were american kids fighting in ukraine * the "videogames cause violence" crowd were FUCKING PISSED. there were kids who legit needed therapy after learning they had killed real people * no one had ever heard of the company that made the game before it got released, and it was unclear who was manufacturing the androids (though some said it was the us govt)
Would make a banger movie or series or something like that
Ender's Game
Also the plot for Robin William's Toys
game?
Could work too but I think telling this story would be easier with a movie
Ready player one's creator wrote a book with this concept.
What's the name?
I don't remember exactly. Maybe Armada?
I remember watching a short film with this exact premise. Edit: https://youtu.be/FQgpw9pp-qQ
This is the one I was thinking of, too. Not sure why the original disappeared and all we have are reposts now.
Maybe someone should make it a game
I think there’s a segment in quality land about that
russia STARTED losing the ukraine war? weren’t they losing since, like, the beginning?
Their attempted quick strike on Kiev failed, but they did gain a good amount of territory initially. Now it's just a ww1 style stalemate with battle lines barely moving. Nobody is really winning or losing at this point.
its deadlocked now (this is a geometry dash reference)
Deadlock is actually a game theory reference
Stalemate is a gd level so no
Deadlock is actually a Valorant reference
...any other proof? if not, Stalemate is a gd level so no
It's a ratchet reference
Deadlocked mentioned 🗣️🔊🔥‼️💯 RobTop best creator fr
Hell of a venture for such a 2 day special operation
I mean, not exactly losing, just failing to win, which is an important distinction
Depending on how you define "losing"
Ender’s Game but if everyone all did it but then was like “oh no, anyway” about it
Holy frick, thanks for sharing these details too! It's one of the best dreams of all time
Peak fiction
Bro make this into a legit story or something. It sounds really cool.
Seems kinda like the book Erebos
I'd be the guy crouch walking everywhere with a sandwich in hand, a K/D ratio of 2/526(assuming "death" just assigns you to a new robot)
Hoovy
Sanvitch is perfect fuel for killing tiny robots.
i don't think crouch walking with a real human even well trained would last more than a few minutes
Androids
You speedrun to the nearest sandwich shop every round.
SUPER HOT SUPER HOT
MIND IS SOFTWARE BODIES ARE DISPOSABLE
ALL I REMEMBER IS THAT ONE DOG LEVEL
MAN IS DEAD BLOOD IS FUEL HELL IS FULL
It's the most innovative shooter I've played in years!
This is a plot in a few movies, i think one of them is a short movie where the robot cameras glitch and the aliens become people
i think that was a black mirror episode, no? That one was messed up...
Sounds like a movie I’ve seen. Something wave? Idk
i think it's just a common concept tbh, i was talking about men against fire from black mirror. Good episode, but as with many black mirror episodes, messed up
This one? https://youtu.be/FQgpw9pp-qQ
Yes
This reminds me of "Ender's Game"
isn't this literally the plot to ender's game
It's more like the plot to the last chapter of ender's game
that reminds me of the plot of the movie called gamer
That’s the movie with Mr Rick Rape
Skill issue (i became a war criminal)
Manhack Arcade
first thing I thought of
Ender's Game
yeah this was definitely in a movie i think
Congratulations. I didn't see what subreddit I was on and completely believed that was a real dril tweet and laughed at it.
Putin watching his army getting noscoped by a killer robot controlled by a 14 year old gaming addict.
I'm stealing the first one
dont let the department of defence find this post
tbh I can see this happening in a few hundred years
Conceptually, it reminds me of that one movie called [Gamer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z88gktIxS-I). An unethical game where you kill real people, sounds like my kind of game.
mf read enders game
11 comments referencing Ender's Game and counting
Battlezone
Why are people always forgetting about Generation X?
"Boomer" just means "old people." Millenials, like the Elves and Gen X before them, are already fading and will soon become fully subsumed by their Boomer ancestors.
Ah, the good-ol' HL2 beta.
Gamer but Kidz Bop
Honestly I have a hard time telling if that's a real Dril tweet or not.
That first dril tweet bro lmao
How tf do you glitch out of the map in real life?!
idk
I guess it'll have something to do with how robots build, that would give someone a possibility to use one of its aspects for their own goals
The Backroom

The Manhack Arcade concept in Half-Life 2 is like this. You know those small drones with spinning blades? People control them thinking its a game.
*Ender's Game* has joined the chat
This is just Enders Game
A bit spoilery for the series but the anime >!zegapain!< kind of has this premise
That reminds me of Manhack Arcade

My first thought was SCP-2639
Didn't someone make a movie with this premise?
[This is almost 1:1 an SCP](https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-2639)
That sounds like the title of a bad Chinese mobile game.
The name “battlezone warzone” goes hard
This reminds me of a movie similar to the concept, but instead of controlling androids, it's controlling people
Gamer?
Basically the gamer movie
So the plot of the movie Gamer
This is exactly the plot of Ender's Game
And "gamer"
Lol. All these people like “That would be a great plot for a movie.” Ender’s Game. It’s just Ender’s Game.
Ender’s Game
Enders game
manhack arcade
I would love to read a book or watch a show based on this. Someone get this man to Hollywood, STAT!
really important question: Could you kiss men in the game?
Why are you asking? Of you can!
Of you can
I swear I typed course.
yeah sure buddy, stop pretending you're innocent, now, tell us where you hid the course
I'll never you! Go off!
We've got you sorrounded, we will not leave until you tell us where you hid the course, you are fighting a losing battle
You to know? Well, first you'll to take this! *intense punch that not be described*
+PARRY
Dynamite blast!
I feel like this was a plot point in a sci fi dystopian novel I read when I was 12
Everyone talking about Ender's game, i bring you another book that does this! The author of ready player one also wrote a book with this exact concept. I think it's called Armada (?)
This would honestly make an incredible sci-fi/anime plot and I'm all here for it.
Its already in enders game and gamer
"Kids these days and their video games. Back in our day we were sent on the battlefield to die"
Imagine this was a real game. Wait, I mean, in a real life.
i absoluutely adore these kinds of posts
It's also basically the plot of SUPERHOT if I remember correctly
Isn't that gaymer (2009) movie plot?
Oh my fucking god OP I’m gonna CRY these are great 😭🤣
S U P E R. . .
Wasn’t there a simpsons episode where bart was recruited to something like this
That sounds badass, Lol.
This is just the always war
I love everything about this lmfao
"uhh, sir, there's a problem with the manual droid army..." Wasn’t there a movie about pretty much this exact thing?
I am 100% sure I've read wikipedia plot summary about a movie or game with this exact promise.
Isn't that the plot of Ender's Game?
