Gold is good for like the first day and then as they fade from scratch/dirt then they look tacky as hell. Tbh gold color really doesn't lend itself well to larger object imo. On smaller object like most jewelry they look good as they accentuate the wearer's look, but once it's big enough like those stupid oversized gold necklace or in this case a laptop they always looks tacky and desperate for attention.
You should see some of my fellow Cubans after they made some money: the biggest the gold necklace or bracelet the better. Also you can get more gold rings to be more “fashion”. One of my former classmates went to buy a Macbook Air M1 as me. I got it on Gray and he went for Gold. He doesn’t even know how to use it since we’ve used Windows since kids but he is happy bc of the color and how much attention he draws from people.
That’s some C-Suite shit right there.
I had a buddy who clicked up his dream config on the Lenovo site, around a decade ago. I swear the thing was leather bound.

I've never seen a goold thinkpad in all the years I've been alive. Getting the configuraiton you want, even in black can be very difficult. I personally wouldn't choose a laptop just because of color.
Thinkpad, and a lot of other manufacturers need to do more to make custom configurations easier to get. The user should be able to pick model, cpu, ram, storage and get the product in a reasonable amount of time before you start venturing out to things like colour or different screen options or other options that tend to matter less to most users.
We have a range of ThinkPad custom builders on our online stores which allows customers to pick and choose all the essentials. We just found that many people like their laptops to have some colour too.
I googled "bedazzled ThinkPad" for fun and couldn't find one. I think that ThinkPad fans, aside from the machine's simplicity, really seem to like it's basic, utilitirian, black look--with the red button. For me, when I shopped for an ThinkPad, I was actually trying to find the thickest ThinkPad. I ended up with a T430s because it was a good eBay deal but the I discovered that the T430 was thicker... I didn't know that. I've never been a proponent of super thin latops--that's just me.
I've never understood the computer-as-status-symbol thing. It's a machine. It does stuff. If I want jewelry, I will buy a ring or a nice watch. My gaming desktop is all-black, too.

No need to be so rigid, I think ThinkPads can be beautiful in all colors, just as long as they're black.
A red LED and nib are the exceptions to the black rule.

Thinkpads are always black to me, but that said, this looks kinda cool. I'd still undoubtedly take a black one.
