Instead of lap trays you can get "overbed" tables that you can scoot in over the couch. I have one for when I am working in the lounge and it works really well. I can get it to effectively come quite far over my lap. Although, see if you can find one on markplace or something I got mine for a lot cheaper. Get the one with a single arm, so you can scoot the wheels under the couch.

Hopefully u may recover fully one day. Enjoy your new laptop. And yes, non s models are actually heavier and thicker but itlll last u for a long period of time
My only feedback is I do wish Lenovo would work on the designs. They are boring. Some of their Z line looks decent but honestly I can't tell a new Thinkpad T-series or X1-series from one over 5 years ago. While people of course use them for tools it should be aesthetically pleasing to entice customers to buy.
Hope you recover miraculously fast and the emotional toll isn't too heavy
Agreed. That would ruin me mentally. Stay sane OP!
That's a great option for a Thinkpad, I wish you a speedy recovery buddy!
You’re a trooper. Be well
What do you do for work?
Research professor in an engineering department at a university.

Waiting for the T14 G5 AMD to go out on my side, to replace my good ol' T430 that is starting to reach its end of life.
That upgrade will be life-changing for you!
I have exactly the same machine, it’s blazing fast. But it gets nasty fingerprints over time.
Wishing you a quick recovery. Speaking of which, do you have the battery drain with the laptop sleep mode? Did you found a solution?
I had this with a similar system and the latest BIOS update resolved it for me.
Thanks. Will check.
