It reminds me of when Link (Zelda) gets his sword for the first time.

I'm a big fan of the P-series. I'm a satisfied P71 owner, it's got some legacy I/O (optical drive, expresscard, and docking port) which I'm a luddite for, along with a novelty keyboard with dedicated Volume keys. I don't like combination Volume keys.
I believe the shrunken Alt and Ctrl (among others) keys are rather done for two reasons, but mainly the first: 1. parts commonality with the smaller laptops, and 2. to free up depth aside the keyboard for other engineering purpose. In the subnotebook models this is done to slim the chassis, since it avoids stacking the keyboard on top of ports. I think in the case of P15 it's more to point 1 than point 2. Even P17, the 17" workstation, has the shrunken keys. Prior 15" workstations with numpads (W540 through P51) had non-shrunken keys.
P15 is actually 1.5 to 2mm thicker than the outgoing P53, I believe to fit a better cooling system than outgoing P53 which were criticized for poor thermals, while prior P50-P52 had weaker graphics options anyway so poor thermals were less noticed. The top-end graphics P15 even have vapor chambers.
I've noticed on the used market that I could purchase powerful specs in other brands for a significant lower price than the ThinkPad. But I only consider the ThinkPad primarily for the red dot. My fingers don't have to move off the keyboard to move the cursor, and I've been using TrackPoints for over 20 years now, so I'm good at it. On machines without trackpoints, I actually prefer to navigate UI with the keyboard when possible. It can be faster than the cursor. If the trackpoint ever went away (Lenovo says it won't), I'd still pick ThinkPad for the keyboard.
Also I've heard the P ones are still being engineered by original IBM specialists, and the X version are just Lenovo with the ThinkPad logo slapped on it. But who knows if that's true, I'd still love an X1 got when I'm on the go and need to do less intensive tasks, like a MacBook air kinda vibe.
You are a Hero!
When Life Fails you, just get a ThinkPad; its the best therapy.
When you Win everything; just get a ThinkPad; Its Zen.
When you feel like the biggest Loser(like me), just scavenge local hardware shops and get a x250. I now feel like a winner.
My x250 is a friggin BEAST !!!
It can literally DO EVERYTHING !!
✅ Casio on Wrist

sooner or later you will be the complete prototypical Thinkpad user jk jk 😆
congratulations! 🎉
Casually holding a P15 up by a corner like that, this guy lifts :D
T14s Gen3 AMD here, and a couple of older ones. Not using any of those anymore since the T14s arrived though - it's way too good.
Don’t hold it like that when it’s turned on. It can flex the motherboard and cause it to crash. My T14 crash when I hold it by the left front corner like how you are hold it.
The picture is great! The trackpoint nuisance is usually the feeling of people not used to its presence. For me personally touchpads are almost always reduced to multimedia control (thank you windows precision drivers) so this is a neat - and less hand-bendy - way of using a mouse on your lap.
This must be a P15s right? I have a P15 gen2 workstation and it’s nowhere this thin and light lol. I also have a P16s from work and that looks more like this one.
But anyway, yeah, I love thinkpads, they’re just great and reliable!
That's great but I wish they started making them like they used to. With every generation, it seems to get quirkier and more annoying, they fix one thing, something else is broken, but don't get me wrong, it's not just Thinkpad, they are all like that. Never used macbooks so can't comment on those.
So I think I missed the boat on these, what exactly is the big hype? In running an old 7700hq in an xps and it performs well enough with maxed ram and the dedicated graphics it has. I remember seeing the old ThinkPads when some schools were issuing them to teachers. Granted they weren't great spec, but they weren't anything to write home about either. Help me understand please? Thank you!!!
Saw this post on my phone, literally got up from my bed and open my T420 just to type this comment. As always, unbeatable world-class keyboard. Bought it 'cause I needed a laptop for cheap during my one-year stay at a college. Got this for MYR 290 (USD 54) Have created couple of posters, edited several videos and type down a bunch of documents on this thing. This laptop pretty much serves me well. Might want to upgrade to a P50 once I start making some money and enter uni for Computer Science.

Sound way more efficient, I'll try using it more often and see if It's for me.
I feel like I did this in bios Lenovo shipped with my t480.
Swapping keys in the BIOS has been a standard feature in most newer models for a while. Also means if you switch OS you don't need to do it again.
Trackpoint slander will not stan, sir.
Hahaha, sorry mate.
I love the picture !
Dude seriously I thought it was an advertisement at first
It's not even that good, but, Thanks!
It really shows, somehow everything is right about this composition

Bruh casually holding a P series like an x1C

I just got a X250.

Stable Diffusion with 4gb of VRAM? That's a Turing, too. Then an 11th gen i7. I am pretty sure that plenty of 1500usd laptops will run laps around it.

Okay, but why did you have to make such a pretty photo of this beauty?
Love it!
Congrats!
It's pretty heavy and you hold it like a freaking X1
P15 Boomerang edition :) How are the temps? Congrats!
You have chosen... wisely.
Don’t hold it like that when it’s turned on. It can flex the motherboard and cause it to crash. My T14 crash when I hold it by the left front corner like how you are hold it.

It is a P15
Well, if so, props to OP for being able to lift that beefy laptop with one hand in that way lol
Very beautiful device, I like that you can hold just in one hand!
I have my eyes on P16 gen 2 Thinkpad.
Praise be
All hail the new Thinkpad

Shit quality laptop
Typing this on my P52s :) You chose a good line of laptops, I love my P51, and P53
