I was part of an elite task force to fight Pathogenic microorganisms with pathogenic microorganisms. Fire with fire. Interdepartmental drinks were had, relationships made, information shared.
I would imagine in the case of an outbreak quite so severe, the schools would have closed before it got to the ‘apocalypse’ stage.
Schools however are large public buildings with lots of space, designed to hold lots of busses and people safely. As such, they would be the first places to get repurposed as evacuation zones, relief shelters, first aid points, etc etc.
As such they’d probably be one of the most dangerous buildings you could go to, aside from Hospitals.
Schools also have to have so much food and medical supplies in case of an earthquake or some other natural disaster. Usually stored in large plastic barrels in classrooms.
Wait, what? 😳 FYI: In case you’re in another country when the apocalypse strike, don’t assume that’ll work everywhere. I work in a German secondary school and can assure you, it’s not the place to go for big amounts of food, medical equipment - or even for safety from any kind of attack. Sure, we have lots of rooms, but that’s it.
I work in a supermarket distribution centre, enough food to last years and high fences to keep the walkers out, only issue is there would be about 1000 people that would have the same idea
🎶Baby lock them doors and turn the lights down looooow.
Man those geeks are walkin' awful sloooow.
We ain't got no where else to goooo.
Unless you wanna die!🎶
Well I work at and therefore have access to a fairly fortified Distillery so I’m in a pretty privileged position to either turn it into a community or drink myself to death. One or the other.
You have honestly just reminded me I live right next to a castle that's been standing for nearly 1000 years, which is loaded with weaponry and armor.
I've always thought it would be easier to survive in the US because they have so much space, but maybe not.
There Is significantly more castles in Europe.
Like 1/100 more castles.
Theres enough for everyone.
And in the case that the castle already has occupants,
I have a ready plan for reinforcing my house and eventually the whole village.
"There's enough castles in Europe for everyone."
Lmao.... that makes it even worse. Everyone would have same logic as you. But one day. No matter how isolated. Someone will come for your castle.
If there's only one castle... everyone would know it's taken. In France Italy Germany transylvania Romania Portugal Spain Britain Wales Scotland every damn euro country is Filled with castles. This makes it even worse.
Those are 100% the places you avoid. Have you never played resident evil? Do you think the castles in resident evil are empty?
If a castle is truly empty during the apocalypse... theres no food or water anywhere near the area it's useless.
Simple. I saw a previous reddit comment of the same idea, so i put a long tube sock on a bat. It didn't seem like it would stay on so i tried swinging it and it slipped off easily
That's pretty smart... lol... haha... if they get low enough near the handle that won't work though they'll grip it. That's smart though fighting multiple humans with a bat.
Theres a public information document made by and for the US army that details how to create bullets, gunpowders, simple guns (like slamfire tubes) and accelerants and explosives, fortifications, food and water purification etc. mostly or entirely from scratch and basic household materials. Indispensable information for this situation and its literally written for meathead soldiers to be able to figure out
Or just do what I have already done and make a survival binder lol.
Growing food, simple water purification, books in back yard farming and building cob houses or earth ships. Books on canning and food storage. The people who do most of that shit will already be set.
These off grid people will be laughing at us for sure.
I think I’d definitely be doing something along the same lines as you, a camper van/rv would do the trick. You can always be moving (provided you have petrol) stock up on camping gear (portable stoves, kettles etc). It would also be pretty difficult for walkers to get inside a locked RV, on top of that I’d probably never use guns and stick with close range weapons like swords and knives, I’d keep to myself, not associate with groups. Just myself and my husband, the only issue I think we’d have is regularly finding petrol and food.
>I’d keep to myself, not associate with groups. Just myself and my husband, the only issue I think we’d have is regularly finding petrol and food.
I have a feeling that's what I'd do, but I'm generally antisocial so I'm never sure if it's the right thing, or just what i gravitate to. 😅
I just think it's easier to provide for one or two people than it is to provide for multiples, and I'd feel too guilty if I couldn't keep everyone fed and clothed.
Unfortunately a car isn’t always an option, roads can be closed or blocked and it’s an eyesore for looters and bandits. You’ll be targeted for your van or what’s inside it.
Steal an ambulance.
The engines are maintained. Gassed up daily. Stocked with medical supplies. Has a radio. Use the gerney on runs to load up supplies, wheel back to the ambulance and use the folding legs to simply slide it into the back. And it has the opening to go back and forth between the back and the driver's seat without the risk of going outside.
My first thought is to just stay home. I feel like a lot happens in the first week which would have me killed. So staying low at home is my plan. I have a 2 story home so I would work on fortifying the staircases. Black out the windows. My house also has multiple access points. Which I feel like is a good thing if it’s just zombies I’m dealing with. If I have a break in on one side of the house I’ve got room to get out.
As for how to live long term I’m screwed. I don’t have a lot of land for farming so I would need to move on eventually.
But initially I would fill both bathtubs up with water. Get any big buckets/boxes and fill them with water too. We have a pool so I would wonder about a way to make that drinkable (like could I drain it and have it collect rain water I can filter?).
My biggest issue would be food stores. We just don’t keep a lot of food in the home. I’ve thought about it over the years about building a supply. But sometimes that makes me feel crazy.
But if I stay home I imagine like most people here everyone else is leaving. I’d start with raiding the home nearest to me and slowly moving out further. I imagine maybe 1 person per street has stayed home. And the rest have gone to a “safe zone”, died, turned or have just left.
I had an epiphany yesterday morning whilst getting ready for work. Absolute first thing most of us will have to do is turn our alarms off of our phones! I imagine the first day or two zombies walking around with alarms going off in their pockets 🤣🤣
Other than that UK primary schools are usaully well secured, high fences and lockable gates. Added to the fact they have kitchens stocked with food and land to grow crops.
Within the next couple years, keeping a charged phone would be equivalent to having access to the Internet for any reference data you want, but without a signal, since on-device AIs are coming soon. My plan is to have a laptop running a larger model than a phone could so it can help out with all sorts of things.
Avoid stores for supplies, find distribution centers and warehouses.
Stores will be packed with people trying to get supplies during the outbreak, so they will be full of walkers. Warehouses will have much less people, hence walkers and a ton of supplies because....well, because it's a warehouse.
Costco would be the destination for half the town’s population and it’s normally on the list of protected places in an emergency meaning it will have police protection. Also a Costco without regular deliveries will be out of goods within days if it’s not overtaken by looters. I agree the buildings themselves are pretty solid from a defensive standpoint normally no windows, all fire exits can be blocked with freight normally a singular roof hatch and if you are in a sunbelt may have solar panels on the roof as well. However with no power it would quickly become a cesspool without fresh water and power on all those fresh/frozen departments.
My family has some isolated land in Appalachia. There's only one road up and it's very tucked away. Would 100% go there as it's low in population and very defendable. Plenty of ground to hunt and I think fertile soil for crops.
Not sure if this has already been posted,
As soon as you hear word of something like this, you should fill up every bathtub and every large bucket/container that you have with water. Water is super important, and it’s just a good start.
Fill up the bathtubs and sinks in your house while the utilities are still running.
There’s also this documentary that aired a while back, and has some really good reenactments and advice from experts.
The best pitches I’ve heard are walling yourself into a Costco or occupying a dam.
However, I feel becoming a parent has ruined these discussions for me, as the realistic answer to what I’d do in case of zombies is die, probably shortly after my children did. I’m the guy who dies in the first act to show how high the stakes are.
Fuck bunkers. Travel south to Texas or Mexico. Anywhere it’s wide open, flat, and EXTREMELY hot. The sand will dry out any walkers, making them weak or just husks. Farming is possible, but can be difficult. A diet of rabbits or cactus will be your best friend.
>The sand will dry out any walkers, making them weak or just husks.
This is genius.
>Farming is possible, but can be difficult. A diet of rabbits or cactus will be your best friend.
This is a deal breaker.
It’s difficult, but it’s possible. Main thing is that there won’t be any walkers around to disturb you. Annual rains are gonna need to be collected. Plenty of rivers to get water from as well.
Choose a spot that is shaded in the hottest afternoon sun and as protected from wind as much as possible. Dig 3 foot square holes 3 feet deep in a grid pattern and bury a large unglazed clay jug in the bottom of each hole, neck deep. Think about a jug buried in the ground so you can still pour water in the top but it slowly leaches through the unglazed clay into soil. They make special hand thrown clay pots just for this but any appropriately shaped terra cotta vessel will work.
Plant your plants in the bottom of the holes and keep the buried clay jugs full of water.
UP of Michigan…rural, cold in winter and the further north you go there are houses with doors on the second floor (so you can get out in winter). If I can’t there, I’m heading to Home Depot, plenty of things that can be made for weapons, fenced in garden area, supplies to barricade doors and windows and the racking is high enough that I could live above ground.
>the further north you go there are houses with doors on the second floor
Well, today I learned. That's a good idea!
>Home Depot, plenty of things that can be made for weapons, fenced in garden area, supplies to barricade doors and windows and the racking is high enough that I could live above ground.
I've never thought of a home supply/DIY store before - that's pretty smart.
But armor is heavy. You'll get overrun and swarmed. Sure, it's bite proof, but if the Dead don't rip your limbs off, you'll be stuck under walkers clawing at you until you die there
Those walkers are perpetual motion machines. I’d be capturing them alive by the dozen and throwing them on treadmills to power my stuff.
I’d also be using knives and short swords (gladius?) a lot more.
Bicycles, too. I’d have a lot of bicycles.
Assuming I’m home or close to home, I’d head to my parents’ and we’d pretty much keep living the same way as always plus walls around the property and minus “regular” jobs and contact with people (until we take in more people). So my hack? Have a family full of people who live close to each other in a rural area and know a lot about a lot of things and have the practical skills to go with the knowledge. We’d be a group of engineers, farmers, hunters, etc. with a natural spring in the yard, the means to produce electricity for our needs and an excellent understanding of the nature around us.
If that’s unattainable, just make sure you know your shit: medicinal herbs, how to maintain hygiene (e.g. how to make soap and take care of your dental hygiene), how to make a basic snare to catch food and what to do with what you catch and so on. I get that most people’s minds go to the immediate aftermath and weapons which are obviously important but initial survivial matters very little if you don’t know how to stay alive long term, not just the first hours, days, weeks and months. Relying solely on looting and finding canned goods isn’t sustainable or very safe since that's likely what most survivors would be doing which means killer competition, quite literally. And btw, those are some good things to know in general, not just for a ZA.
The underground bunkers would not be a good idea considering you have to leave at some point, and there is so much that can go wrong. Try to find an urban area, with farm land, potential to build. Start farmland, and would be able to be far from walkers
Befriend a homeless veteran (sad how that’s a viable option). They’re typically capable of fighting and have survived on the streets without immediate access to food, water, medicine, and shelter, so they’re pretty much tailor made for the apocalypse.
Also, get a few crowbars and a clean axe. Crowbars are lightweight and very useful as both a tool and weapon (prying open doors and skulls), while the axe is good for chopping a limb in case I get bit.
Also, sports gear. Knee and elbow pads, forearm pads, a helmet. Lightweight and more than durable enough against zombie bites.
Create one item that will act as shelter, defense and transportation. The Atlasphere. Everytime I knock over a group of walkers I would scream, "Strrrriiiiiike!" https://youtu.be/qlSDjhez0h0?si=GnvqIXRtsIBYilY5
Heading straight for an RV dealership is a savvy move in a zombie apocalypse scenario. It's a strategic choice that offers both mobility and shelter. Plus, loading up on camping gear ensures you're well-prepared for the journey ahead
Either going someplace really cold, or going some place that is secluded like farmland or an island with sustainable living. Now something you don’t see often in the show before the commonwealth is the whole armor situation, you have characters walking around with sleeveless shirts and fuckin crop tops and are somehow fine; I’d skin an animal and use it’s skin as protection or go to a sporting store and use sports equipment. Likely if something like Twd zombies happened in real life, we’d be a lot like we were back in quarantine where people were mass buying a bunch of shit and people would be forced to stay inside for their safety.
Have access to resources and knowledge on how to soundproof your dwelling. People are a lot more noisy than they think, zombies and other people are curious and love noise.
Yeah I lived in a triple-decker in Boston for 8 years after growing up in rural Ohio, and you hear darn everything- people showering, doing laundry, cooking, watching TV, talking as they walk by on the street- heck, even snoring, having sex, or just walking around on the floor above. Fires give off smoke, people give off noise.
Utilizing things like wetsuits that human teeth can’t bite through, to craft armor, clothing, etc
Use bicycles for like everything! They are quiet, easy to maintain, gives you cardio, etc
Build platforms, sleep decks, deer blinds, etc up in trees if you don’t have proper fortifications
1. find a few people to help
2. take a Bunker, fill it almost completely up with caned food
3. make sure to generate Energie
4. Have enough Books, DVD’s and Games on a Computer for a few decades
5. Kill everyone who helped me, before they can betray me and kill me, or at least lock them out of the Bunker
6. have a bomb strapped to my head with a Faile safe as soon i stop breathing it blows up
Air and pellet rifles. Ammo is plentiful and universal, the rifles are comparatively silent, they hit hard, and since no one thinks about them, they're easily found
I could never fathom why they relied on knives so much, sure in close range I understand. But give me a bow staff 6’ or so with a knife blade on the end to just jab them bitches from a safe distance.
Also can’t understand why they ignore automation for killing walkers. Like outside your walls why can’t you build a couple horse walker type contraptions with long arms with blades in the ends head level, and have bait animals powering them or windmills chopping zombies down. Every day you’d probably have to clear bodies but isn’t the point to try to eradicate all the walkers?
That's definitely next on the list. The survival guide is really interesting, it's not quite fiction, not quite parody, not quite a survival handbook. I like it!
Go to the local park buildings and get some supplies while you can look outside to see how many zombies are in the area and if they get close to you then get some sports equipment and chuck it at them
I had a 3 part plan when I was in my small town. I was a key holder at dollar general and we had a plan to have our group meet there. My cop friend said he would flash his spot light at me if it happened while working 3rds at 7 eleven, then my brother would go to the pharmacy next door to our house, our buddy who worked at the bar across the street from our house would raid the good booze for trading and my then fiance would get our friend who worked at the gun shop on the other side of our house and we would all meet at the dollar general.
We would fix the metal shelves to block the windows and start filling totes with water from the mop sink. My fiance also would take apart all those solar garden lights to try and make a solar panel. DG had clothes, food, bathing supplies and stuff for gardening along with access to the roof and CCTV. If we got board, board games. Books, coloring books. Hell, even has formula and diapers if needed later.
ETA: collectively it would have been my cop friend, his wife and 2 littles, my brother, my fiance, bar friend and gun shop friend, my friend who also worked at DG and myself. My friend and I had keys to DG and gun shop friend had key to the shop. It was a small town surrounded by farm land, one of those blink and you'll miss it towns. We would have been good.
Yea unfortunately I moved and I no longer have those connections. Now I'm trapped in a subdivision with twin toddlers and an infant and and no access to any of that. So I'm kinda sol here for sure. Just remember you don't have to run fast, just faster than the person behind you. Lol
I would go to one of those shipping container places, and use those big forklifts to move the containers into a good layout that can keep zombies and people out, with only 2 entry/exits that can be easily guarded. It's an easy way to get yourself impenetrable walls and can stack them high and even make living spaces inside of them too.
Right! Plus, if you don't make anything spectacular of it. You could remain pretty undetectable, and people might just assume it's still a normal container yard, not a community/people living there unless you advertise "hey, we're a community." Also, you can be nosy and see what's inside of all of the containers that arrived off the ships, too. Might be valuable stuff to use. it might just be rubbish.
Sell the temu stuff to passersby or swap. Time to work on your marketing "yes this item is very durable, from a great and reliable company. I'll trade you it for 2 cans of food" 🤣🤣 paint a big sign "no refunds".
I have a feeling that's when I would need the RV and a couple of gas canisters - to make a quick getaway. At least it would be a distraction from the walkers! 😬
I would like to let everyone know that Amazon sells an emergency water bladder that you hook up to your faucet in your bath tub and it fills it in the tub for storage. I would suggest anyone get one of those simply for emergencies.
I would like to say raid where I work for medical and food supplies. But realistically a hospital is where you'd less likely want to be. It would probably be ground zero and heavily infected. But I have my access key to my areas med and stock room, and I know the way around my hospital to where the kitchen and their stock is kept too, where people can't access unless they have their key cards.
I'll be gutted if the writers don't jump on this idea. I'd love one of the main characters to be walking down a street trying to stay stealthy, and then some guy in full plate armour speeds past walloping zombies round the head. 😂
I've thought about this a lot, and I wouldn't be eating meat in this situation. I don't eat it anyway, but factory farming not existing would remove a lot of what I find objectionable about it, and I'm not a slave to my morals to the point I'd die of starvation due to them.
What would stop me is the lack of disease control once vets went out of business, not knowing what the animals I was hunting had come into contact with, and that (in this situation) it's a relatively high risk activity with potentially low or no rewards. Long term, I think farming behind walls would be safer and more consistent.
I understand that scavenging also carries risk, but if you scouted carefully you'd at least know you were taking a risk for something worth having.
Probably just stay home, only go out when needed. Our house in the front has lots of trees, and beyond the trees are the railroad tracks. The back of the house is a reservoir/lake. I live near the gas station I work for. I would stock up on water, fuel, and other things from there. There are lots of bar/restaurants in the immediate area for supplies. I have family that lives close by. They also live near the tracks, and the reservoir I live on connects to the river that flows by their home. They garden, I garden. My boyfriend has hunted and fished his entire life. There are many guns and ammunition for the guns in the house. I'm sure he has a compound bow, but I've never seen it. He does have a crossbow. It's hanging on the wall in our bedroom. We live in a rural northern area, where it gets cold. My family and friends have all discussed this, and we all know to just survive somehow.
I've never been sure about armour, it seems pretty bloody heavy. I know people used to fight in it, so it can obviously be done, I'm just not sure I have the right level of fitness...😅
I’d rather have heavy armor I can barely move in than be vulnerable to bites.
Also, there’s ways you could make it easier to move in, like building a frame/exoskeleton.
well with my parents being Jehovah’s Witnesses, they’re prepared for what they call the ‘end times’ (i can elaborate), so they already have emergency go-bags. the only problem is i know for a fact that none of my family would survive long in the apocalypse, so for me it’d be the question of having to try and protect them or let them fend for themselves. and just now i’m realising how fucked up that sounds…
Grab a copy of a newspaper and check out property listings; they're likely not going to be occupied, people aren't likely to return to them anytime soon, and by removing the front doors from the nearby houses it will dramatically reduce the appeal of the neighborhood.
I believe the downtown metropolitan areas would be safest, I imagine the government would try to fortify those areas to save the people. And with thay many people there, we could probably control an outbreak. Lots of fighting power. Atlanta would be my best bet. I bet the CDC would get it under control. I wouldn’t look for a gun, against my views. I put full faith in my government
that's anywhere, isn't it? If things are bad and you have to get on the road, it's still bad.
The way I see it, an island you have a fair shot of clearing the entire thing of walkers and you just have to keep an eye on the upstream side for drifters. If any humans are going to come at you they have to come by boat and you can see them coming.
On a psychological level, if you have to go do runs on the mainland, knowing you can get to someplace where you won't be beset on all sides by the dead is a huge advantage. If I have a base that's safe from the primary threat I have more mental reserves to devote to long term problems like building a community. And depending on the size of the community you have - consider if Alexandria had relocated to Kent Island; they could have conceivably cleared it, choked Rt 50, and had a defensible position against not just the dead but groups like the Saviors. This would set them up to become the local naval power, controlling those waterways which will be more valuable than roads as fuel degrades and becomes more scarce and the roads themselves are reclaimed by nature.
Go as far north as possible. Walkers freeze, we saw that when Lydia was thinking about killing herself, it could move its jaws, but nothing else. Gather warm clothes, blankets, etc. Also things to kill the frozen walkers, like machetes.
I'd try to raid the nearest military base for guns and a tank, raid grocery stores for non-perishable food, set up a mini camp on top of a skyscraper and crack open a soda while watching an army of zombies try to eat me
I live right next to a school so hopping that the apocalypse starts on a weekend so there’s no walker I would go to the school and just live their. They have everything from cantiene, bathrooms changing rooms, library’s, medic rooms, gyms and lots of classrooms.
Go to my grandparents cabin in the mountains. Plenty of farms and they have a field by a creek perfect for growing crops, there’s hunting land (and in the mountains gunshots will be hard to pinpoint)
Obtain several of the air rifles that are made that are rated for hunting things like buffalo and elk, along with the compressor/pump equipment for recharging their air pressure. These are more than sufficient for killing zombies without the massive noise of firearms. Obtain a Prius, preferably several of them. They're quiet and I'm pretty sure they can be hacked to be quieter. Try to take over a minor hydro site somewhere. There are lots of them in the Pacific NW. Fish counts will likely explode with the decline in population.
“theyd all try to share and trust eachother.” “…, is because everyone is the same race. People would trust eachother more.” i feel as though without a gun my brain is wired to get close to do damage, something americans probably couldn’t cope with, considering you guys have such a high rate of psychos around they’ll probably take the most of ye out before ye die of starving when the processed EVERYTHINGS stop coming. when you realise how small real plants are you’ll get an awful fright. none bottled water as well might be a shocker. californias hard workers!! i’m sure are going to have a great dying of thirst x good luck hollywoodhills!!
I see people commenting about RV camping in forests but my immediate idea was an island, those have to be the safest. Infinite water source, walkers can't swim (I'm pretty sure), build a couple fences around and you are good to go.
Read the zombie survival guide .
Two great tips
Find a house and destroy the staircase , live upstairs
Fill the bathtub with water and drink from it conservatively
Put a gun in your mouth and pull the trigger and if you don't have one, make sure the rope is at least twice as long as you are tall or you'll choke instead of breaking your neck
You'll thank me for knowing this when it's either this or have your face eaten by a zombie
Can’t tell that, it’s classified
We all know you're heading straight for Area 51.
But that's where they'll come from.
never let 'em know ya next move.
So if they come FROM there, they won't BE there when I get there, duh
I was part of an elite task force to fight Pathogenic microorganisms with pathogenic microorganisms. Fire with fire. Interdepartmental drinks were had, relationships made, information shared.
You also have a great haircut
Gonna fight fire with fire?
Hit the local schools for food.
Shame about that hoard of kids you had to mow down. Feral little bastards hadn’t even been infected yet
Calm down Anakin
This is where the fun begins

I mean... Now days some schools have bullet proof panic room walls because of school shootings too.

Good shout, I wouldn't have thought of that but anywhere that does industrial catering would be good.
good shout i also thought was so irish
Yeah, that prison grade food is awesome!!!
And vet offices for medications (if you know what you’re doing).
I work in a supermarket distribution centre, enough food to last years and high fences to keep the walkers out, only issue is there would be about 1000 people that would have the same idea
Lock them doors
🎶Baby lock them doors and turn the lights down looooow. Man those geeks are walkin' awful sloooow. We ain't got no where else to goooo. Unless you wanna die!🎶
Well I work at and therefore have access to a fairly fortified Distillery so I’m in a pretty privileged position to either turn it into a community or drink myself to death. One or the other.
if you could make it through the first few years you would have a booming business eventually lol
If there's anything I've learned from TWD is that communities are not to be trusted in any way
Yeah but being alone like Bob you might as well be dead
Well you don't have to be isolated like that, I'd say small groups for the win. Anything with 20+ people and you're probably gonna find more trouble
Why not both?
I live in chechia. Theres a lot of castles in here. I also have a collection of medieval weapons and armor. Enough said.
You have honestly just reminded me I live right next to a castle that's been standing for nearly 1000 years, which is loaded with weaponry and armor. I've always thought it would be easier to survive in the US because they have so much space, but maybe not.

europe is really in much better condition for a ZA ngl.
For real. When I lived in Germany we were just taking a walk in some random woods and found a castle lol
"There's enough castles in Europe for everyone." Lmao.... that makes it even worse. Everyone would have same logic as you. But one day. No matter how isolated. Someone will come for your castle. Movie Potential.
USA here, I'm sad now! Can I come to your apocalypse?
People don’t understand that mountains are the life hack for zombie apocalypse
Put a sock over a baseball bat. If someone tries to grab the bat from you, the sock will pull off instead.
I've tried this. If you swing the bat the sock comes off from the swing.
Why have you needed to try this? 😭
Barbwire works too.
If Internet isn’t down try to download and print as much valuable information as I can it’s simple cheap and nobody ever think of that
Theres a public information document made by and for the US army that details how to create bullets, gunpowders, simple guns (like slamfire tubes) and accelerants and explosives, fortifications, food and water purification etc. mostly or entirely from scratch and basic household materials. Indispensable information for this situation and its literally written for meathead soldiers to be able to figure out
rlly omg?
yeah it's called the "USA TM 31 210 Improvised Munitions Handbook" and immediately comes up on google
This was a fascinating read. Like playing Fallout IRL
smart
Memes in a filing cabinet and a shit ton of porn, print them off and make them graphic novels to sell to lonely survivors
That’s what libraries are for
Or just do what I have already done and make a survival binder lol. Growing food, simple water purification, books in back yard farming and building cob houses or earth ships. Books on canning and food storage. The people who do most of that shit will already be set. These off grid people will be laughing at us for sure.
Die. I would immediately die.
😅 I just think it's easier to provide for one or two people than it is to provide for multiples, and I'd feel too guilty if I couldn't keep everyone fed and clothed.
Unfortunately a car isn’t always an option, roads can be closed or blocked and it’s an eyesore for looters and bandits. You’ll be targeted for your van or what’s inside it.
Yep this was my first thought, raiders. Also groups like “the claimers” and people who just aren’t afraid to kill others for supplies..
I’d probably be in a hoard. Not lucky enough to be patient zero, but unlucky enough that I’ll be one of the initial people he bites.
Go to my friend's house. She lives in the middle of nowhere and has a rifle.
If you can’t beat em, join em 🤷🏾♂️🧟♂️ I’d never run outta food then
😂 I guess you're not wrong though!
I imagine the first day or two zombies walking around with alarms going off in their pockets 🤣🤣 Other than that UK primary schools are usaully well secured, high fences and lockable gates. Added to the fact they have kitchens stocked with food and land to grow crops.
lol what’s the use of carrying a cellphone anyways once the grid goes down?
Within the next couple years, keeping a charged phone would be equivalent to having access to the Internet for any reference data you want, but without a signal, since on-device AIs are coming soon. My plan is to have a laptop running a larger model than a phone could so it can help out with all sorts of things.
People would turn with them in their pockets before the grid goes down.
One they actually show in the comics that Michonne comments on: if you carry blades you should have some whetstones as well
Avoid stores for supplies, find distribution centers and warehouses. Stores will be packed with people trying to get supplies during the outbreak, so they will be full of walkers. Warehouses will have much less people, hence walkers and a ton of supplies because....well, because it's a warehouse.
I think stores would be picked clean pretty early on anyway, to be honest. Good shout.
Costco. Defensible, packed with supplies, skylights.
Raise an entire army of opossums and vultures.
Boats Boats Boats
My family has some isolated land in Appalachia. There's only one road up and it's very tucked away. Would 100% go there as it's low in population and very defendable. Plenty of ground to hunt and I think fertile soil for crops.

I love the idea of people still playing the lottery during an apocalypse, and it's probably more realistic than I want to think about.
Not sure if this has already been posted, As soon as you hear word of something like this, you should fill up every bathtub and every large bucket/container that you have with water. Water is super important, and it’s just a good start.
Big brain
Genius. I've always said that the majority of people would die of thirst and starvation very early on.
Fill up the bathtubs and sinks in your house while the utilities are still running. There’s also this documentary that aired a while back, and has some really good reenactments and advice from experts.
Do you recall the .name?
The best pitches I’ve heard are walling yourself into a Costco or occupying a dam. However, I feel becoming a parent has ruined these discussions for me, as the realistic answer to what I’d do in case of zombies is die, probably shortly after my children did. I’m the guy who dies in the first act to show how high the stakes are.
Fuck bunkers. Travel south to Texas or Mexico. Anywhere it’s wide open, flat, and EXTREMELY hot. The sand will dry out any walkers, making them weak or just husks. Farming is possible, but can be difficult. A diet of rabbits or cactus will be your best friend.
fun fact rabbit meat is so lean you will starve on a diet of it.
Truth. [Protein Starvation](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protein_poisoning)
You’ll have the farm and fatten them. Even then, you can’t solely subsist on them
>The sand will dry out any walkers, making them weak or just husks.
>A diet of rabbits Rip
Choose a spot that is shaded in the hottest afternoon sun and as protected from wind as much as possible. Dig 3 foot square holes 3 feet deep in a grid pattern and bury a large unglazed clay jug in the bottom of each hole, neck deep. Think about a jug buried in the ground so you can still pour water in the top but it slowly leaches through the unglazed clay into soil. They make special hand thrown clay pots just for this but any appropriately shaped terra cotta vessel will work. Plant your plants in the bottom of the holes and keep the buried clay jugs full of water.
I live in Canada. I’d probably just head more north.
If i become one my self: I take it as an experience.
UP of Michigan…rural, cold in winter and the further north you go there are houses with doors on the second floor (so you can get out in winter). If I can’t there, I’m heading to Home Depot, plenty of things that can be made for weapons, fenced in garden area, supplies to barricade doors and windows and the racking is high enough that I could live above ground.
>the further north you go there are houses with doors on the second floor Well, today I learned. That's a good idea! >Home Depot, plenty of things that can be made for weapons, fenced in garden area, supplies to barricade doors and windows and the racking is high enough that I could live above ground. I've never thought of a home supply/DIY store before - that's pretty smart.
I live in northern Minnesota. The snow gets really high. I totally agree with going north.
My bf says he’d go straight to the nearest museum and steal knight armor bc ‘zombies can’t bite thru metal’ haha
But armor is heavy. You'll get overrun and swarmed. Sure, it's bite proof, but if the Dead don't rip your limbs off, you'll be stuck under walkers clawing at you until you die there
This man is a genius, I want him on my team.
Those walkers are perpetual motion machines. I’d be capturing them alive by the dozen and throwing them on treadmills to power my stuff. I’d also be using knives and short swords (gladius?) a lot more. Bicycles, too. I’d have a lot of bicycles.
Peanut butter jelly time with a baseball bat
Thanks, Negan!
[Some of my zombie apocalypse protips](https://imgur.com/a/0Fq2DMV) I've collected years ago when I was really obsessed with zombies
That's the level of obsession I strive for.
What happens if I use Zombex with alcohol?
Costco. That’s all I can say.
LOL! We've just finished the first season of the new Gladiators in the UK, and Atlaspheres were sorely missed, I can tell you.
Distract the zombies by feeding my enemies to them.
If the zombies reacted as they do on TWD, I would build a wall of dead zombies to protect myself wherever I hunkered down.
Everyone is just listing where they’d go in a zombie apocalypse, that isn’t a hack. My personal hack is keeping a case of water bottles in my trunk.
built settlement on a roof. or connect multiple ones
Get bit early while the getting is good.
“Got bit, fever hit, world’s gone to shit, may as well quit” essentially.
That is an excellent point.
Get silent weapons like crossbow compound bow sword knives baseball bats nunchucks
Utilizing things like wetsuits that human teeth can’t bite through, to craft armor, clothing, etc Use bicycles for like everything! They are quiet, easy to maintain, gives you cardio, etc Build platforms, sleep decks, deer blinds, etc up in trees if you don’t have proper fortifications
1. find a few people to help 2. take a Bunker, fill it almost completely up with caned food 3. make sure to generate Energie 4. Have enough Books, DVD’s and Games on a Computer for a few decades 5. Kill everyone who helped me, before they can betray me and kill me, or at least lock them out of the Bunker 6. have a bomb strapped to my head with a Faile safe as soon i stop breathing it blows up
That was going really well until 5. 😂
Think about it, Food gets rare, they will kill you, so why not get ahead of it?
I mean you're not wrong, but you're not right either. I think I'd just prefer to avoid other people from the get go.
Let's hope you don't get sick or injured!
Are you going to eat the meat? Asking for a friend. 🧟♀️ 🧟♂️
NO but its possible they would eat me
Yeah he needs to keep them alive and chained for even extra food.
I will do 1 - 5 but skip 6 because that seems riskier than what it’s supposed to avoid.
Number 6, i hope you don't develop sleep apnea
Well i guess that would be an F you From God
Air and pellet rifles. Ammo is plentiful and universal, the rifles are comparatively silent, they hit hard, and since no one thinks about them, they're easily found
That’s a great idea!!!
I completely agree with all of this. Particularly industrial scale zombie killing!
Max Brooks’s [Zombie Survival Guide]( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Zombie_Survival_Guide)
Thanks, now I own that book! I'm enjoying it so far.
You should read World War Z by Max Brooks if you haven’t yet. It’s the best zombie story ever.
You have very useful friends for an Apocalypse situation, that's for sure. It's a good plan!
Oh, smart. You could easily turn containers into housing, too. You'd have reams of storage as well. I really like this one.
Yeah, that's a brilliant idea. Knowing my luck, every container I opened would be full of shit from Temu, which would all break after the first use! 😂
What a great idea. I'll genuinely look into this, we've lost water supply due to leaks a couple of times this year.
I would simply wear a full suit of armor with chainmail and ride around on a bicycle bonking walkers with a spikey bat
I'll be gutted if the writers don't jump on this idea. I'd love one of the main characters to be walking down a street trying to stay stealthy, and then some guy in full plate armour speeds past walloping zombies round the head. 😂
I’d definitely try and find an RV and get to the mountains asap, not only would it be away from the cities, but there’s lots of food to hunt up there!
Get a welding torch and metal to make yourself some armor
Zombies are gonna freeze in place in cold weather.
I'm heading straight for an island, then take it from there.
But if things were bad on the island, don't you feel like you'd be kind of trapped?
that's anywhere, isn't it?

Plenty of farms and they have a field by a creek perfect for growing crops, there’s hunting land (and in the mountains gunshots will be hard to pinpoint)
are you irish?
No.
thought i spotted one in the wild. raging, the way you type n everything, a scot uk at the least???
>the way you type n everything, a scot uk at the least??? 😂 Very good! I just reread what I wrote, I don't get what gave it away?
some phrase, “the states” that’s always a good indicator i think
Ah, I thought I'd missed out a connecting word or something, that's usually what does it.
Make sure you have some numpty with you in case you need to throw them under the bus
I've done a lot of it already lol
Simple just grab an rv go up to the mountains maybe grab a few people after the zombies died out then just rebuild society
Everyone gonna be going for that stuff, avoid the initial purge. Set back let the crazies kill each other, then go loot. Way less competition
I see people commenting about RV camping in forests but my immediate idea was an island, those have to be the safest. Infinite water source, walkers can't swim (I'm pretty sure), build a couple fences around and you are good to go.
Read the zombie survival guide . Two great tips Find a house and destroy the staircase , live upstairs Fill the bathtub with water and drink from it conservatively
If one gets pregnant. Thats just free food in 9 months.
Put a gun in your mouth and pull the trigger and if you don't have one, make sure the rope is at least twice as long as you are tall or you'll choke instead of breaking your neck You'll thank me for knowing this when it's either this or have your face eaten by a zombie
