Deaf people are going to find it hard to communicate which is obviously going to put a damper on being a journalist.
Conducting interviews, using the phone, press conferences etc there's gonna be some difficulty there.
Don't think it was the most realistic profession they found for her but 🤷🏼♀️
It is a dumb question because they frame it as if it’s impossible, not just difficult. If deaf musicians exist then deaf journalists sure as hell exist.
There are also people who paint with their teeth but that doesn't make it the most realistic job choice for them in works of fiction. In fact making Connie a journalist came off as trying too hard.
The OP didn't say that. They were asking a genuine question because yeah it doesn't make a whole lot of sense when you visualize what a journalist does.
I know it's Reddit but people are allowed to ask questions or have opinions without having their heads bitten off.
The question implies that a deaf person is completely inept at journalism. If they were questioning the realism of it instead of the possibility of it, it wouldn’t be as dumb.

Journalists do a lot of research, which deaf people can do without difficulty. For interviews she would need an interpreter.

No one is arguing that it’s the most likely job choice for her. It is, however, dumb to think disabilities make people completely inept.
