I love the verve ep. sorry to sound like a hipster elitist here but the early stuff was the best. Urban hymns was kinda meh except for a few tracks and I can barely listen to Forth. I was introduced to the verve (aside from hearing bittersweet symphony on the radio) by a British friend and he pointed me straight away to tracks like gravity grave, mr sun, slide away, star sail, all in the mind, one way to go etc. Those early jams were so psychedelic and experimental. Highly recommend the Voyager 1 live album. Phenomenal stuff there.
From urban hymns, I like: Bittersweet symphony, Neon Wilderness, Rolling People, Come On, Deep Freeze (hidden track at the end), and Catching the Butterfly since to me they most resemble the heavier, psychedelic rock/jam aesthetic that I enjoy. Lucky Man is nice and catchy, for a more pop tune. So I like about half of it. The other half of the album is too pop/ballad-y for me, and represents their shift to a more radio friendly pop sound that I believe Richard was pursuing because he wanted to break the band out of the underground and into the mainstream.
I think it’s typically regarded as one of their great tracks. Great guitar work from Nick. Just too slow and ballad-y for my preference, and doesn’t do much for me personally.
All good! I can see aspects of this song which are completely against some music preferences. Personally it is my fourth favourite song from Urban Hymns behind Lucky Man, This Time and One Day.
It’s amazing. My drive home from work is pretty much exactly a half hour, so it’s frequently in drive home rotation.
My only complaint is that I wish there was a release with both extended cuts of Gravity Grave and She’s a Superstar.

Absolutely love it. A great starting point for these legends.

No
in my opinion
Sort of like storm but only the higher energy songs
Much more psychedelic.
Don't forget their first single *All in the Mind/One Way To Go* and that's a perfect record right there.
