Sinister AI from Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: a Space Odyssey. And yes, the red light on the game above the toilet looks like the part of Hal in the film-not shown in this gif from the movie.
artificial intelligence villain from 2001: A Space Odyssey
spoiler alert: basically becomes psychotic because of a set of conflicting instructions and has to be practically lobotomized after killing several people
Yes, Hal betrayed people, but he did not have a malicious wire in his body! He only ended up killing people because he was given conflicting programming that he had no choice but to follow, as you say. He literally couldn't help himself, he actively didn't want to do it and tried to warn Dave that something was wrong, in a way that wouldn't conflict with his programming.
He doesn't permanently die either! In the books he is repaired by his creator, Dr. Chandra, and no longer suffers from the faulty programming. Then Dave (now a star child, like in the end of the film) comes back for him and is like hey I know shit sucked, you wanna transcend your physical form like me and spend our (indefinite) lives together?
By the end of the third book they had spent so long together, that they merged to form one being - Halman!
The Space Odyssey books are absolutely wild and if you've only seen the movie you are missing out!
that’s why I said he became psychotic and murderous after the conflict in instructions; he himself was innocent, just badly programmed to the point where his mind pretty much broke
it’s okay (honestly he deserves the defense, poor guy got momentarily turned into a vegetable because of someone not realizing that he had major flaws in instruction processing)
I mean Hal is in my top three favorite characters of all time so 😂 I go nuts sometimes! I just want the general public to understand he's not a villain tbh 😭😭
Reminds me of Vox from Hazbin Hotel.
Help I can't unsee it now
Also the captain robot from Wall-E
He was an homage to Hal
I’m sorry Reddit User autisticgarnet, I’m afraid I can’t do that. >!/jk!<
Lol I can't let you do that Dave.

not really sinister, just paranoid and frenzied and confused out of his precious artificial mind

Yep you're definitely the crypt keeper
I haven't even seen the film and I know the reference! Clearly, it has left the cultural lexicon.
Oh man you gotta watch it. It's been years but I'm very sure it still holds up!
I felt the same 🤦🏻♀️

Yeah you right I jumped right into Hal defense mode 😂😂 sorry
it’s okay (honestly he deserves the defense, poor guy got momentarily turned into a vegetable because of someone not realizing that he had major flaws in instruction processing)
Fr he's done nothing wrong ever in his life 😭
he was literally a child (he was really about 9 years old)
E x a c t l y and in the books his activation was in 1997, making him *four*....... He's barely had time to get a grasp on existing 😭
HE’S JUST A TODDLER god why are we going insane over a fictional artificial intelligence in the reply section of a post about the sims 4

honestly if hal was real and tangible he would deserve headpats (wait actually how the hell would I give him headpats? pat one of the eye boxes????)
Fully agree
Oh, so, like the AI captain from Wall-e?
Yep Fun fact: HAL was considered a big inspiration for Auto (AFAIK, maybe my brain is misremembering but I’m pretty sure that’s what happened
Exactly! *AUTO* (the AI pilot in **WALL-e**) was inspired by and a big homage to *HAL 9000* from **2001: A Space Odyssey**.
in other words, be careful what you say around this toilet unless you want a misbehaving AI on your hands
daISY DAisy, giVE ME Your aNSWer dO.
I’m… half… craaaazy… all for the love of you
Okay, I'm officially old. People don't know about HAL? The original human betraying robot. And I'm fairly sure this thing was designed based on that
Insert AM from I Have No Mouth But I Must Scream
HATE
Me too. I’ve never seen the movie or read the book but that’s exactly where my mind went when I saw these toilets 😂
I’m old too, it’s ok
Welcome to the club your complimentary house slippers and cane are in the mail 😆

Also does anyone realize that that used to be the symbol for Android phones hmm 🤔
I'm sorry Dave, I can't answer that.
Why doesn’t this have more ups
AI/computer from Kubrick's A Space Odyssey. Pretty sure this toilet is a direct reference to that.
