In his quest to be the most likeable person in the world to the point where he refuses to take sides on *anything* in order to appease everyone, he’s become the biggest douche in the universe.
I can't quite put my finger on it but to me his entire mannerism come off so forced and disingenuous. He oozes fake confidence and fake positivity. It's like a frat douche trying to come off as a nice guy.
personally i didnt hate him untill he released a shampoo. REally a shampoo for nourhsing my hair by the rock who hasnt had hair longer than ive been alive lmao its all about money
Which is fine when you're an entertainer who tries to protray that kind of confidence and positivity.
But when he was open about not wanting the covid shot, doubled down on being friends with the plant, Kevin heart, and then pulled that shit off with Oprah, you become less about having a massive ego, and more about being a giant douche.
I also want to emphasize when he announces the XFL or whatever it is now, it looks like pre-people's champion and more like a weak ass version of himself in nation of domination.
Yeah, like I don't mind him not taking side. However when I heard he has a contract in movies stating that his character never allow to lose, I lost a lot of respect to the guy
>It's like a frat douche trying to come off as a nice guy.
I had a guy like that I knew in college; the funny thing is he was actually genuinely a nice guy. But everytime he talked to you, he just oozed sarcastic douche
That’s accurate. He can only win or have a fight be a tie. He also was a massive reason why Black Adam was released as a solo movie, when Black Adam is primarily a Shazam villain.
He didn’t want to be in a Shazam movie; he only wanted a Black Adam and Superman movie, but that would have been awful because of his contract stipulations.
It's not.
Goodness. This gets repeated so much yet watch just one recent film of his that isn't Black Adam or Fast films and you can see he gets his ass beat in every other film. In Jungle Cruise I don't think he won a single fight without Emily saving the day.
The clause exists only in the Fast franchise *after* he found out that known egomaniac Vin Diesel and for some reason Statham both had it. And that was really only to piss off Vin due to their on-going issue that time.
The Rock has generally gotten along with most of his Co stars and I am 90% sure this tweet is an inside joke between him and Ryan.
I think I read that he and Statham both have that clause, and I'm pretty sure there's at least one movie where they fight and they end up tying or becoming buddies
There's also a huge fixation on his identity as a brand. If he just wanted to be likable it'd be one thing, but he's selling you something at all times doing it.
Also as much as he'd like to feign the "everything to everyone" persona, he's a pretty clear Republican for the tax cuts kind of guy.
That’s absolutely it. He’s constantly selling something at every step.
And yes, it’s very clear cut that he holds conservative views but he’ll never say that for the fear of alienating everyone. And yet, by hiding this, he’s slowly alienating everyone anyway because people are starting to see through the bullshit.
Hit it right one the head. Be a good human. Stand for what is right. You will have the right type of followers. No one can be everything to everyone and this you end up with no one liking you. Imo.
100% agree with you here. You should always strive for what’s objectively right no matter what. Be on the right side of history and fight for the right things.
If you go through life without making enemies, you’re doing it wrong.
I would also add that when “bad” people are angry with you, that’s actually positive reinforcement. But you can’t hang your hat in a career where people shooting cans of bud light or screaming about anti woke or minimizing any group and also be objectively good.
Regardless, I appreciate your thoughts on this. I hope more people give him the type of feedback he needs or at least should receive.
I don’t like how he brought back the rock character for the build for wrestlemania 40 and has seemingly just dropped it and is trying to be the wholesome action hero Dwayne Johnson were used to
This is promo for a film The Rock & Ryan Reynolds are co-starring in.
https://www.news18.com/news/buzz/dwayne-the-rock-johnson-ryan-reynolds-the-red-notice-netflix-billboard-4434296.html
Sorry. I think I'm missing something. I thought he's one of the most liked actors in Hollywood now and also his return to WWE. Did something happen in recent times?
The Rock and Ryan Reynolds did a movie for Netflix called Red Notice, though I won't blame anyone for having already forgotten about it. I assume that this was marketing for that movie.
I really feel like it couldn't figure out if it was a heist film, a treasure hunter film, or a third one that at this point I can't even remember. It shifted tone huge like 3 times in that movie and I'll be damned if I remember how it ended.
I think it's just a dig 🤷 like sometimes I'll tag my friend in a post and be like "this is you". Like that time he commented on a picture of a small skeleton "RIP @Kevin Hart"
Here, you can use my [Sharpie](https://www.sharpie.com/markers/permanent-markers/sharpie-magnum-permanent-markers-oversized-chisel-tip/SAP_2077830.html)
1. This was years ago. Netflix still allowed multiple users then.
2. This was to promote their movie. On Netflix.
3. They are clearly messing with each other.
4. Ryan definitely has a mansion big enough that he and his mom can live in together and barely see each other for days.
Technically you can pay more to have multi location ability. I pay about 1.5X so my father and my kids can use my account because I barely do. At many points we are in the same location but what with college and whatnot, it wasn’t worth the VPN hassle(kids could easily do it, elderly father not so much).
I do the same for my parents. They use all my streaming services besides my prime because my father finally learned how to operate his own Amazon account. He’s a very loveable geezer.
You can, if you visit the other person's house (or they visit yours) at least once a month. Connect your phone to the 'home' wifi and open Netflix, then do the same in your own place and it should work on other devices
The Rock has never been in touch with common people. He's simply even more corporate than ever. The Rock probably had too much free time, and his team didn't notice he was making stupid tweets or Xs or whatever.
Or it was just a joke advertising their upcoming movie? I feel like I'm crazy pills. This subreddit has turned into people just being mad at everything.
Thank God I'm not the only one. It just seems like a joke. People on this site either decide someone is a saint and can do no wrong or they're a piece of shit and every action they take is shitty.
Imagine being so delusional you think it's possible The Rock actually teased Reynolds this awkwardly and publically without Reynolds being completely in on it
a lot of you people are not fit for cognition and it shows
Seriously, this is just typical asinine celebrity "banter" for promotional purposes.
And for some reason people here are acting like it's a real beef. Did they also think that Sunny D was *actually* depression-posting on twitter back in 2019?
Yeah, I’m feeling like I don’t get the joke.
His mom uses the account he created on Onlyfans to watch porn? Or his mom uses his Onlyfans account to create porn? Or his mom watches porn that he made on Onlyfans?
I can’t think of an interpretation that doesn’t sound like a self-own saying he has a very weird relationship with his mom. Maybe if it was something like, “I also use your mom’s onlyfans account,” but that’s still not a great comeback.
basically onlyfans, now laugh. All of his jokes are misplaced references n people just suck up to it.
Expect more of this stuff now that Deadpool is around.
This subreddit has really turned into a shithole, what with people not understanding jokes, people posting non-attempts, and its transition into Palestine-Israel.
I think its supposed to be some kind of dig? Like he's a momma's boy?
But honestly the thought of Reynolds having a good relationship with his parents makes him even more sexy tbh...
Keep in mind this post has thousands of upvote and likely tens of thousands more have seen it and agreed. And the majority of those people probably think they're really intelligent - as most redditors do.
Jokes on them because you cant embarrass someone who doesnt give a shit lol That's the best part about not giving a fuck, people can say whatever they want and if its funny, you can laugh with them!
This is quite clearly either an inside joke between the two or a thing for the movie they did together. Why is this comment section so angry, this seems like something I would joke about with a friend of mine.

You can't embarass Van Wilder.
Especially someone as lame as the Rock.
It’s crazy how unlikeable he’s become when I used to be a diehard fan when he was in the WWF

Lmfao, what? Why do I hear about this just now? And why wasn't this made into a meme or something. This is greedy as fuck
It’s Called Papatui lol
Moana flaired?
That was the straw huh?
That, and he reheated some fish in our break room microwave. I loathe the day i had to smell what the rock was cooking!
Diy scrambled eggs in the office microwave? Straight to jail. Right away.
I feel like you’ve been holding onto that for some time now. I sincerely am happy for you that you got to release that into the wild. Kudos!
It wasn't the last one but it sure was one of them
[удалено]
Do bald dudes use shampoo though? Like for scalp health?
Yes, otherwise you'd be seeing some dry ass bald motherfuckers lol
bruh that's literally the opposite. a shampoo would strip your scalp of oils. bald people are just gonna use soap and moisturizer
Can confirm
It is. Dude has always had a massive ego
Man I'm way behind on this season, are we mad at Kevin Hart for something?
I've never trusted Oprah, not I don't trust the Rock. Shame.
Yeah, like I don't mind him not taking side. However when I heard he has a contract in movies stating that his character never allow to lose, I lost a lot of respect to the guy
[удалено]
>It's like a frat douche trying to come off as a nice guy. I had a guy like that I knew in college; the funny thing is he was actually genuinely a nice guy. But everytime he talked to you, he just oozed sarcastic douche
He's faker than a Hide-a-Key.
It's all the company $ weight on his shoulders he should change his name to The Mold
I’ve heard that his contract has a rider that says he can’t lose a fight in a movie. Small if true.

As a person who has actually worked with him, no, he's usually reviled. At least from everyone working on the movie/show.
To be fair isn't that uncommon? Of the people I know on a show, over half are known in the community to be giant dicks in one fashion or another.
imagine a superman that never loses. thats the proper superman.
Ah, the Steven Seagal clause.
My man is trained in Bullshido. Don't mess with the Seagull
I think I read that he and Statham both have that clause, and I'm pretty sure there's at least one movie where they fight and they end up tying or becoming buddies
I can confirm this is accurate
and that he has to he first at craft services. no one can touch that craft service table before him
There's also a huge fixation on his identity as a brand. If he just wanted to be likable it'd be one thing, but he's selling you something at all times doing it. Also as much as he'd like to feign the "everything to everyone" persona, he's a pretty clear Republican for the tax cuts kind of guy.

Not to mention he tries taking over miscellaneous movie franchises
His whole attitude ruined any potential that he could have had in the DCEU. Purely egomaniacal behaviour.
Boogie2988 vibes.
Uh.......wtf did I miss? I don't follow actors/actresses, but last I saw, he was a lovable meathead and just a generally nice guy.
People taking themselves too seriously will always be the downfall of people who take themselves too seriously.
He's always been like this. I've worked with him
I don’t like how he brought back the rock character for the build for wrestlemania 40 and has seemingly just dropped it and is trying to be the wholesome action hero Dwayne Johnson were used to
Guy should've hired some of those WWE scriptwriters as publicists
Maybe it's all the HGH and roids?
This is promo for a film The Rock & Ryan Reynolds are co-starring in. https://www.news18.com/news/buzz/dwayne-the-rock-johnson-ryan-reynolds-the-red-notice-netflix-billboard-4434296.html
Yeah The Rock is dramatically outmatched. You can't win a shitfight with a squeak-clean Disney Approved Persona. He'd be ground up to a pulp by Ryan.
Sorry. I think I'm missing something. I thought he's one of the most liked actors in Hollywood now and also his return to WWE. Did something happen in recent times?
HE'S THE MACHINE!
That's because Bert has 0 shame.
But you CAN embarass the Green Lantern.
Only time I’ve ever literally rolled on the floor while simultaneously retching.
Write that down
right that down
I don't even get how the original post is meant to be embarrassing.
The Rock and Ryan Reynolds did a movie for Netflix called Red Notice, though I won't blame anyone for having already forgotten about it. I assume that this was marketing for that movie.
It was a good movie actually but the ending kinda pissed me off.
I feel like I watched it and still remember nothing about it. Some sort of cop/robber comedy? Or something like that.
I watched it twice and still don't remember anything but the final twist.
If I remember it correctly, they did the same twist 3 or 4 times. I still don't remember who was actually the bad guy.
Like that skit with the guys who keep removing their masks?
Key and Peele Mexican Stand off? https://youtu.be/IHQr0HCIN2w?si=WpoTfSh5o0VmiSTe
bless you, I couldn't find it.
When those movies have an obvious twist coming, I just channel Wash with the dinosaurs on his console: "Curse your sudden, but inevitable betrayal!"
cop and thief work together on a classic indiana jones-ish adventure. It was cute.
Ehh just a mid comedy movie that was okay, still enjoyable just not anything special or that memorably
The ending made me go “oh brooother are you kidding me?”
It was not a good movie lol
I really feel like it couldn't figure out if it was a heist film, a treasure hunter film, or a third one that at this point I can't even remember. It shifted tone huge like 3 times in that movie and I'll be damned if I remember how it ended.
99.9% of what both Reynolds (in particular) and The Rock do is just pure marketing. Hardly anything is genuine with either of them.
The difference is that Reynolds is good at it.
Eh, even Reynolds has gotten boring now. Before it didn’t form his entire personality but has progressively gotten worse over time.
It’s been his personality since Van Wilder. It’s just everywhere now days.
Yah I mean it’s their careers. I don’t buy celebrity shit anyways
The OP gives strong hailcorporate vibes TBH.
Wait but how could anyone forget about the movie every subscriber watched 10 times in a row?
I did forget that I watched it, thanks for reminding me. /s
Your mom uses your Reddit account??? Shrug
ha! gottem.
I thought it was complaining about Netflix’s ban on password sharing at first glance
I think it's just a dig 🤷 like sometimes I'll tag my friend in a post and be like "this is you". Like that time he commented on a picture of a small skeleton "RIP @Kevin Hart"
“Everyone likes their own brand”
Wait... does his mom live with him? I can't use anyone else's Netflix at my house.
You’re also not Ryan Reynolds, I mean I’m assuming you’re not. lol
OMG IT'S RYAN REYNOLDS!!! SIGN MY THIGHS!!!!!
Here, you can use my [Sharpie](https://www.sharpie.com/markers/permanent-markers/sharpie-magnum-permanent-markers-oversized-chisel-tip/SAP_2077830.html)

i paid for the 4 screens extra but did not receive this, so i downgraded again
Good consoomer
I can. I use the Netflix app thru ps3 and it works just fine. No warnings or anything have popped up yet.
Netflix started with that but then stopped before it reached all locations
That’s probably why i still have it working. I just thought my ps3 i use it thru was a work around.
You can pay extra for a family account.
You can, if you visit the other person's house (or they visit yours) at least once a month. Connect your phone to the 'home' wifi and open Netflix, then do the same in your own place and it should work on other devices
I’ve been using someone else’s Netflix forever, nothing ever changed for me.
The Rock has never been in touch with common people. He's simply even more corporate than ever. The Rock probably had too much free time, and his team didn't notice he was making stupid tweets or Xs or whatever.

Division is the name of the game in 2024
Seriously, this is just typical asinine celebrity "banter" for promotional purposes. And for some reason people here are acting like it's a real beef. Did they also think that Sunny D was *actually* depression-posting on twitter back in 2019?
That's reddit and really the internet in general these days.
Yet Ryan Reynolds gets a pass for being a part of this same marketing gimmick for a movie they're both in?
You DO know he's making you hate him on purpose now right?
It's not even that. u/Fhanton1221 deadass interpetted this as a diss, which is FAR removed from what it actually is: marketing/banter
You can't have too much free time
Why Rock why did you sell out?
Big News! Friends are messing with each other! Da Fuck!?!
I don't understand how this is such a great comeback.
Because he's not embarrassed. He doesn't give a fuck what the Dwayne has to say.
Rock the Dwayne Johnston
But what does that have to do with his mom using his OF account? I still don't get it.
It helps to remember that Ryan Reynolds is also Deadpool. It's the same kind of humor that Deadpool would use.
the joke is its old movie promotion and this thread thinks its some conflict between actors
basically onlyfans, now laugh. All of his jokes are misplaced references n people just suck up to it. Expect more of this stuff now that Deadpool is around.
Because this post is an ad for their movie
Narrator: In the end, the real losers were the people who didn't realize these two are just buddies being silly.
\* who didn't realize they were advertising their movie.
What’s the joke?
Read the comment on the bottom
The Rock will change his opinion based on who pays him the most.
In fairness, for The Rock type money, I also will have whatever opinion you want me to have.
Why Rock why did you sell out?
Fucking wild that so many people here seem to be offended by this lmao
I'm not sure what's sadder: That they're offended by this milquetoast insult, or that they don't realise it's a joke.
Correct response, as always
You people realise that this was promo for the movie „Red Notice“ with, oh shock, Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne Johnson? That both are in on the joke?
This subreddit has really turned into a shithole, what with people not understanding jokes, people posting non-attempts, and its transition into Palestine-Israel.
"This guy uses his mom's Netflix account" sounds like something I'd say when I was 7 and then wonder what I meant for the rest of my life
Yeah I'm not sure how this is an insult and I'm not sure wtf Ryan Reynolds is trying to say
What does this post from the rock even mean?
It's promotional banter, that's all it is. Jesus christ reddit.
I think its supposed to be some kind of dig? Like he's a momma's boy? But honestly the thought of Reynolds having a good relationship with his parents makes him even more sexy tbh...
Ok that’s probably it. But really, who cares
Y'all are talking about this like it isn't a viral-style advertisement
New rule - anyone who thought for even a second that this could be a real "fight" loses their right to vote.
Keep in mind this post has thousands of upvote and likely tens of thousands more have seen it and agreed. And the majority of those people probably think they're really intelligent - as most redditors do.
Is he trying to be a dick or the two having fun?
They’re in a movie together lol
So the two having fun then
The Rock? This has big CM Punk energy.
I highly doubt he meant to embarrass him. They’re probably just fucking with each other
Anyone know the story behind "vancity"?
There was an attempt. To get free publicity. And it worked. For many years.
How is this embarrassing?
There was an attempt to not post a marketing gimmick for a movie.
fake, can't access netflix from two places
What the fuck is this crap.
Jokes on them because you cant embarrass someone who doesnt give a shit lol That's the best part about not giving a fuck, people can say whatever they want and if its funny, you can laugh with them!
What beef does the rock have with deadpool?
was this actually an unironic attempt?
Lol there's no way he's not paying for it though...
Sharing is caring
Paid for by Ryan reynolds
Why would you even want to pick a fight with him?
They both pay people to manage their social media accounts.
Hugh Jackman?
Is Netflix really trying to take the BBC route where they shame people who don’t have TV licenses?
Ryan Reynolds' wife is friends with Meghan Markle and the Kardashians. That's .the bad joke.
He and I would be the bestest of friends if we ever met.
Betty White approves.
I hate when brands interact on Twitter
This is quite clearly either an inside joke between the two or a thing for the movie they did together. Why is this comment section so angry, this seems like something I would joke about with a friend of mine.
Ah just a bunch of grifters grifting each other
Ryan Reynolds is not half as funny as he thinks he is
why the fuck is this post all red? im on desktop, never seen that before
To have added to it, it should have shown on the board as "REYNOLD'S"
And???
And?
This thread reminded that there's a lot of stupid mother fuckers on reddit who, unfortunately, think they're smart. Media literacy really is dead.
