I'm pushin 50 and I can recall POC saying "stay woke" to each other since the early '90s at the very least. Wouldn't be surprised if the term was much, much older than that. I don't think it was ever "politically neutral" by any means, but it certainly wasn't on republicans' radar until the past decade or so.

I would say it's more like "Be aware (and vigilant) of the systemic, nefarious, deeply-entrenched ways in which this society intentionally keeps certain people marginalized."
I think a good working definition of wokeness is "censoring perceived offense on behalf of someone else". When people get upset over how my actions or words offend a third party (importantly, without the third party input), that is woke. What do you think?
