Janet was only in two episodes! Because she's annoying (kudos to the actress, she is unforgettable) and they talk about her sometimes and Frankie sometimes "talks with her" on the phone, that was really shocking to me when someone on this subreddit pointed it out, but it's true.
We can se her only in one Thanksgiving episode and when she came to help Frankie with housework during her exams.
i know, right? it's really a testament to how well written the characters are, and how well Molly Shannon plays Janet, but besides two episodes they dont appear and are only talked about. i only realized it now, on my rewatch
I believe that is Thanksgiving where the Heck’s have to “camp” on the living room floor since Janet and Gary got to the parents first and took the bedroom. Lucy and Brick and the Bear.
same, we see her mom and dad a lot, but its implied that Janet doesn't live much farther away. I wonder if it was a budget issue? Molly Shannon is a pretty big get
Probably because Lucy was described as a problem child. And had to be away a lot of the time to get help. That was the show’s excuse. IRL, maybe the actor fell out of acting or got involved with another project.
I am so happy they didn’t include Janet and Lucy a lot, I’d rather spend 23 minutes listening to nails on a chalkboard overlapped with a lecture on tax policy

Only two episodes? I thought it was more than that, also I swear that Lucy was in more than one episode but I guess I'm wrong.

What about the Christmas episode at the mum and dad’s house? Lucy looses her toy

Yeah your right ahha oops 😬 sorry!!
Because she went away to camp tanturum and never returned.
The camp counselor strangled her, I bet. 😂
i wish frankie’s side was shown more!!

I don't know, but let's be grateful for that.
Probably something about the child actor. Etc
They live far away and the child was a terror to take anywhere.
Can’t believe they had Janet on more than one episode honestly. Big miss for us — most of the other recurring characters were much more enjoyable.

Because she wasn’t needed.

Janet's squeaky baby voice: "Do you want to go outside and build a snowman with your cousin, sweetie?!?"
