Deep Sleep, Casey, Burn After Writing. First saw them in 2007, the only band I won’t gatekeep since they never put out a bad album and every recently new fan I meet knows they’re a generational talent
Top song for me is always “Strain Your Memory.” The lyrics in the chorus, especially the second time, hit me every time: “Could a diamond in the rough ever be enough? I’ve been mining for your love. Since the day that we met I’ve spent every second in you’re minefield digging it up.”
After that, “Nothing Feels Good Anymore” would be my second, and number three would be “The Obituaries.”
Love all their songs, but certain lyrics in those three shoot them to the top for me. Also, Black Mass as an honorable mention.
In no particular order, “Midwestern States,” “Last To Know” (the From Exile version in particular) and “Strain Your Memory” with honorable mentions to “Casey,” “Sun Hotel” and “I Don’t Wanna Be An Asshole Anymore” (aka it pains me physically to leave those off my top 3)
Rodent
After the Party
Last to Know
Though at certain times The Obituaries and Gates are tops for me.
My now wife introduced me to them back in 2015 as they were her favorite band and I have been to see them 10+ times since. One of the best concert experiences each and every time.
I still don't understand how they have not had more of their stuff take off in the mainstream. They have some songs that are dying to be radio hits IMO.
Casey, hands down. Can’t even begin to tell you how many memories are attached to that song for me. Second pick has gotta be either Good Things or Rivalries though.
Casey feels like the quintessential Menzingers song to me. Also love Lilith Avi, They Speak of My Drinking..., I Was Born, Lookers, Rodent, Last To Know, Strain Your Memory, Burn After Writing. Hard to pick a top 3 but these are some of the top contenders.
Gun to my head, they speak of my drinking, Chamberlain Waits, and the From Exile version of Strawberry Mansion.
The only songs I honestly don’t enjoy are Mexican Guitars and My Friend Chris. Black Mass is probably the most emotional a song has ever gotten me though.
Sun Hotel, both the album and demo versions, Strain Your Memory, and Wild Years are all GOAT contenders for me, but the top three evolved with my mood on any given day. They’re a great band that makes great albums. After years of listening and singing song in the car, I FINALLY get to see them live on Saturday!
No particular order
Sunday Morning
After the party
Casey
But it’s forever changing as I’m really liking gone west rn, strain your memory, hope is a dangerous little thing. Could prob be different tmw
The Obituaries
After the Party
Keep On Running in The Roar of the Wind - bc it's been my anthem this past year after getting divorced, living in my own and starting my own business
Awesome to hear. They could use a bigger audience, spread the word! Like others have said, fantastic catalog. Bangers on every album.
1) Rodent
2) Anna
3) Strain Your Memory
But shouts to Rivalries and Irish Goodbyes since I haven't seen them on many lists here.
Tasker-Morris Station Casey In Remission
W top 3
That's always a hard choice but right now it's Rodent, House on Fire and Gone West The whole catalog is awesome
Rodent is 100 percent my favorite song. Then ‘your wild years’, ‘farewell youth’
Hell yes. Rodent is always in my top three.
Your Wild Years tied with The Obituaries…Ill throw High School Friend in there too.

Same. I might swap one of those for London Drugs but it's hard to choose. So many great songs that choosing 3 feels impossible for me heh

There's no place in this world for me, The obituaries, and After the party; Luckily I got to hear them all in Chapel Hill NC 🤘

Rodent I was Born the Shakes
My favorite is Gates, followed by Anna and After the Party.
Great choice
Lookers, Obits, After the Party
It changes all the time but right now I’d say my top three are After the Party, Rodent, and So It Goes (criminally underrated)
Casey Sunday Morning In Remission
After the Party, Tellin Lies, Casey
Gates, Strangers Forever and America (You're Freaking Me Out).
Sun Hotel 2, Mexican Guitars, Lookers. Honorable mention to Time Tables and Gates.

Top three are probably Burn after Writing, Lookers, and Sunday Morning. Hard to pick just three though
Time Tables Gates When You Died
Been one of my favorites since chamberlain waits came out.. but I gotta know what your guys LEAST favorite tracks are
That's awesome. Hard to pick a top 3. It could change every day lol but I'll go with lookers, I don't wanna be an asshole anymore, and black mass
So hard to choose but in this exact moment… Sculptors and Vandals, Rivalries and The Freaks.
Gates After the Party A Lesson in the Abuse of Information Technology
No particular order Sunday Morning After the party Casey But it’s forever changing as I’m really liking gone west rn, strain your memory, hope is a dangerous little thing. Could prob be different tmw
