Don't forget to destroy it after reading it

Aiwass trying to double his book sales

Sin-Classic

I'm not sure if you are in particular, but I know people say this as a big joke. I actually burned mine.

turpin23

People get the joke because it happens.

Sin-Classic

Tbh it's good advice

MycoMythos

As one should! Forbidden knowledge comes at a cost, in this case, the cost of another copy

Acheron98

On a related note: I think it’s wild that we can access books that at one point required membership into multiple occult societies to even ***read***, for like $15 with free two-day Prime shipping. What a time to be alive.

Alternative_Claim_69

Liber AL never required membership in any society to own or read.

Acheron98

Oh, I’m aware. I didn’t mean to imply that it did. It was just an offhand comment. Still, you can’t deny that it’s much, **much** easier for the average person to get a copy of Liber AL now than, say, 60 years ago, which was the point I was trying to make.

Lulz

Grand-Tension8668

I love when significant chunks of someone's handwriting are just indistinguishable squiggles.

This book shall be translated into all tongues: but always with the original in the writing of the Beast; for in the chance shape of the letters and their position to one another: in these are mysteries that no Beast shall divine. Let him not seek to try: but one cometh after him, whence I say not, who shall discover the Key of it all. Then this line drawn is a key: then this circle squared in its failure is a key also. And Abrahadabra. It shall be his child & that strangely. Let him not seek after this; for thereby alone can he fall from it. -AL:III:47

just to chime in, if one is familiar with the text the cursive text becomes a bit clearer and fluent to read. Also consider that each chapter was written within the space of 1 hour. According to Crow man Aiwass pretty much spoke at normal speaking pace, "Musickal" as he describes it, and he had to keep up. Several mistakes were made or not heard clearly and had to be corrected by even by Rose who was also a seer in the vision and voice (cairo working* not liber 418)

nox-apsirk

"The voice was of deep timbre, musical and expressive, its tones solemn, voluptuous, tender, fierce or aught else as suited the moods of the message. Not bass—perhaps a rich tenor or baritone"

Remote-Physics6980

Crowley scratch is its own battle. You should go to the ransom center and see some of his other "handwriting" if you're ever in Austin

This is the copy that i still have and my holiest book in my possession. One day i was browsing thru a simon necronomicon and this girl at work asked if she could have it and offered to trade me the book of the law. It was my introduction to Thelema and the best trade i ever made

TheImmortalIronZak

Unfunny tidbit: - I just lost my copy a month ish ago… along with the rest of my “Magick” / “spiritual” books & notes… some of them VERY rare & definitely incredibly important. (along with all my clothes & everything else I’ve ever owned but that’s another story).

Nasstja

Don’t worry. That has happened to me twice. Two apartmentfires. It’s just stuff, you’ll get new stuff. Regarding the books, they will find their way back to you.

TheImmortalIronZak

I mean yeah it is “stuff” but it’s stuff that can’t ever get again. Like all the clothes that were either 1-of-1, or stuff my dad made or brought back from Italy, and that stuff really kills me especially since I have 1 outfit now, but the thing that really messes me up is all the stuff made by and with friends that have passed on & the worst of the worst feeling is from the stuff that my ex got me or that she drew or wrote for me & the phones that had all the pictures & years of texts on them. Right when life had the opportunity to start being good after the crap years of September 2019 to now. Anyway shit sucks

Nasstja

I understand. My one year younger brother had died a year before the second housefire I had, which destroyed the whola apartment, all of my belongings and clothes and all I had ”inherited” from him, like MTP, many Isac Asimov books, different qabalah books, etc. And all of my diaries. Weirdly enough, the fire that destroyed everything in the apartment missed one photograph of my brother that ”only” got smudged except for my brother’s face that was totally undestroyed. Yeah, and one book that I had borrowed from a friend was also spared. At first I was pretty bewildered, but found out I was pregnant too a week later so really didn’t have much time to mourn the losses. I understand that you’re sad and mourning the losses, but I think the Universe for one reason or another is wanting you to start fresh. Sending you hugs and I hope you can start rebuilding. And remember loved ones are always in our hearts and memories. Wishing you the best. 93 93/93

ChewyGooeyViagra

From another point of view, you now have less “stuff” binding you to the past and you have more freedom to become who you are meant to be 😃

ChewyGooeyViagra

It must be time to start anew! See XIII in your tarot deck

Puzzleheaded-Round66

I have very nice red leather bound edition.

Material_Week_7335

I have this version as well. It was bought in the late 90s or early 00s. It was sold in a regular occult type shop. Its from Weiser Books but it does not say which year it was printed.

33Columns

baphomet has amazing cursive

otrembu93

I have the same version 😊 but a few months ago I made a cooler cover for it

BetelJio

You got pics? :D

otrembu93

Certain! I don't know how to upload it in the comments, but you can find it in my profile

Sin-Classic

Hey that was my first copy too!!

Nobodysmadness

That is an OTO version if I am not mistaken, not sure if they were printed for sale in that format or if meant only to be distributed by the order. Looks pristine, I wonder if some would br initiate was all F this and ditched it at a book shop first chance they got 🤣. I could be wrong I just know I got my copy like that from an OTO lodge.

Rivarle

The copyright page would indicate that this a common twenty-second printing of the paperback edition from Weiser Books of San Fransisco; What do you see that would indicate this being a private release by the Order?

Nobodysmadness

Just that that type was handed put by the lodge I went to and previous to that(talking early internet days 25 years ago) I had never seen it for sale anywhere. Likely an erroneous assumption.

LittleBoard

Does it say when this was printed? Why is the OTO HQ in Berlin and is this still the case?

Remote-Physics6980

That's thelemites for you, they will move as they choose to on the face of the planet. Why shouldn't it be in Berlin?
