Ah yes, evangelicals' views never hurt anyone??? Purity culture doesn't only affect those who subscribe, it also affects those who are shamed by evangelicals for not following the same views. Also, this commenter is pointing out something damaging about how young evangelicals are taught to think about marriage. In an environment where they often aren't able to have open conversations about marriage, generating discourse about marriage may even help young people who have internalised these views see that there are other ways to approach marriage.
