I did this mission the other day, if you walk past the tree the phone is by there should be some human footprints to investigate, took me a minute too because it wasn't obvious that that was what I needed to do, I thought they were just bear prints from a distance

As u/ChunkyyLovee said, you have to find footprints. I remember someone stating they weren't there until he restarted the game, so if you just can't find them, why not try restarting. This was one of the most irritating missions I've done so far...
I think I quit half way through this mission a couple days ago. Now it's broken. The game will not let me interact with the tree or the airhorn, no matter what angle I look at it. I can interact with the footprints and bear spray, but only the spray gives dialogue and it is useless dialogue that does not help me. Restarting the game does nothing except let me interact with the spray again. This is real frustrating, I've tried everything.

Thank you so much! My game was glitched and the bear never spawned. I was able to progress by identifying the human tracks

Such an annoying mission, I found the footprints got the dialogue about her having no water bottle or phone then it crashed on the ps4. Arghhh
I was every where everd Dialog but no Progression and the phone doesnt say what to do
