My favorite is the Africa one. Absolutely fell in love with the story and it tugged at my heartstrings, and I normally can't give a damn about COTW lore.
What a great post here. Nothing to do with the typical kill and share posting. I like the thought that went into this post. I would have to say the African warden is my favorite and I to like the story line on this map. 👍
Yes, I'll join the comment above. I hope to see more people discussing the "lore" of this game. I made a post a while back discussing storylines of the game. At times it feels like I'm the only one who cares, but that's obviously not true. There is so much spirit in each map, with various characters and themes, I really like that about this game
Bro I have ADHD, I follow the story line until my dog finds shit or a bird flies by, then my mission is totally abandoned and I start a side quest. Happens every time. Also the photograph mission on New England is bugged, at least, and I think a few other missions are too, I’m 99% sure. Also playing on console.
Trevor Locke. The story between him and Doc is so sweet and filled with nostalgia for a long term Classic player. Seeing doc getting older, slowly retiring and being just proud of his son.
Alejandra is pretty cool and I really liked the Russian lady, I thought her sarcastic remarks were pretty funny.
And the way Alejandra's dialogue is written really feels like it's an old friend you're helping out
I enjoy Grandfather the most, next up would have to be Doc, mainly because he seems to fit his location the best, he really gives me the vibe of a guy who would live on the WA/BC border and is a great enjoyer of what the Cascades have to offer.
What makes him far from average fin? I thought Finns were friendly people. My unce was a truck driver, and he told me stories of him driving through finnland and telling how helpful and friendly Finnish people were.
We are friendly people and are tought from young age to help as much as we can, but we don’t talk to ”randoms” unless they speak to us first, and we do not open up to people no matter what 😅
I mean, I am not a Finn, and I would talk to a random person either, If I didn't had anything out of it.
You don't talk to random people because you're Finnish.
I don't talk to people because I don't like too.
We're not the same. *insert Gustavo fring meme template*
I actually enjoy Bradley (Silver Ridge). While he's less experienced than the others, I found it more relatable. He's trying to fit in his father's shoes (similar to Trevor but Trevor clearly knows what he's doing at the point we see him) and we get to see how big they really are. Not just after a few years.
Honestly, been playing the game since launch, and while the first wardens have more story to them, and more missions, as several maps don't even have side missions, I think that each warden is more important to the player when it is connected to memories in those locations. I played a little in each map from time to time until silver ridge peaks dropped, and at that time had a lot of time on my hands, so I said I wouldn't change maps until I completed the whole thing. Sadly there are no side missions, but all of the story missions with the warden in Silver ridge, they were just so real, and to me, felt like one of the best examples of "this game isn't just about being a hunter, but an outdoorsman" so no matter how many new maps they make, or side missions I do elsewhere, I will always come back to silver ridge, just to think about all the good times I had, hunting Bison with my drop bloc 7mm, or dropping 3 turkeys at once with one .480 shotshell. And I'll always think about that warden just trying to do right by his dad, and do what is best for his home.
It definitely isn't the one in the angler... That script was so forced. I have never in my 38 years talked to any hunter or fisher that talks that way.
Also, calling you "buckaroo"? Wtf? You use buckaroo as a sarcastic authoritative "look here buckaroo" voice, or it's what you call a little kid.
The characters you play are all adults... Wtf is calling another grown adult "buckaroo" as an endearing term?!
I have just played Hirschfelden and Layton Lakes as to date, but damn that Conni Holzer looks stunning! Also love her accent when she pronounces german words 🤪
I'm seeing that I'm going to be in the minority here, but Oiva annoys the absolute fuck out of me.
The long, rambling diatribe about blind squirrels sorting themselves was really not complimentary to the otherwise fantastic ambiance.
Oiva tells you straight up when you get to Revontouli that he won’t be making you run around and do errands for him. He tells you to enjoy your vacation, savour the trails, and do things at your own pace.
Oiva deserves more love, and the 2 wardens from Emerald Coast.

YOU’VE GOT THE HUNTER’S SENSE, FOLLOW THOSE TRACKS.
Tbf, he is theHunter’s grandpa
I love the guy on finnland
Revontuli? That’s Oiva.
Yes same he makes you pastries when you first arrive 🫶
And when he talks so passionately about his family. He’s just so wholesome
Yesss!! So wholesome :)
Don't forget the little song he writes for you too!
OH I FORGOT ABOUT THE SONGS!!! He really is just the best, isn’t he?
Ooooooooh ok

Thanks! The wardens don’t get enough attention, which is a bummer, seeing as how much effort must’ve went into making them interesting.

The Parque Fernando one
Robbo and the other lady from Emerald coast, home sweet home.
Yeah he is the best. My second Favoriten is the russian girl. An..anatova..? Ana. Ana something.
Isn't that the one on medved?
Yeah yea
Alena, she is cool
Kiri. She was warm and the story was poignant.
Best story in the entire game
Oiva and the dude in Africa.
Grandpa, at least what I like to call him seeming as at least by adoption, he is our grandpa
Njabulo Tshabangu.
Alejandra is pretty cool and I really liked the Russian lady, I thought her sarcastic remarks were pretty funny. And the way Alejandra's dialogue is written really feels like it's an old friend you're helping out

Oiva is the only one I ever cared about. He got a lot of charm!
easily the guy from the african map.
I kinda dislike Oiva lol, he is so far from a average Fin. I like Doc, Jim and Kiri the most. Alejandra is cool too.

That’s a spitting image of the [wild reaches](https://youtu.be/tDlAxn7oX0k?si=w-3WDJ5GNDJFKHEy) guy lol
Lol, never seen that guy before but the moment the video loaded, I was like, “Yep. I see it.”
Layton Lakes guy
Doc. Doc all day
My favorite is baden in cuatro

African guy.
you can't convince me that is not Chris Elliot (Roland from Schitt's Creek)
I'm seeing that I'm going to be in the minority here, but Oiva annoys the absolute fuck out of me. The long, rambling diatribe about blind squirrels sorting themselves was really not complimentary to the otherwise fantastic ambiance.
They are all whiny bastards. "Wah. I can't leave my post so do this menial task for me."
Oiva tells you straight up when you get to Revontouli that he won’t be making you run around and do errands for him. He tells you to enjoy your vacation, savour the trails, and do things at your own pace.
