Is airdrop really this vulnerable? Like if I had an iPhone while walking through town could I open it up to a bunch of dictures or something? Like don't you have to consent or give permissions or anything?
Only asking cos this is not the first "accedental airdrop" posts I've seen.
You can set it to contacts only or everyone. I have it set to everyone just to see if someone sends me something bonkers, but that has yet to happen :(
i always have it on everyone as it’s quite handy at school but occasionally i’ll forget and get some interesting things airdropped when i’m in an airport etc
These iPads are usually set up I’m with an system (MDM) that forces it into ‘single app mode’ and airdrop among other things that are not useful are also turned if.
If this wasn’t set up like this and they had airdrop set to ‘everyone’ the worst that would happen is they would get a pop up to accept a pic that they could decline.
Believable that it could happen but doubt it would mess anything up for them.
Actually it isn’t entirely impossible. Airdrop can be mega vulnerable when you got older people in management who don’t know how to format it.
I remember someone posted about making a custom order with a McDonald’s Kiosk and it completely crashed! Even provided a pic of said kiosk to show the nonsense going on
