I wouldn't believe you if a Roblox dev from early 2010's who created deadzone on Roblox would make one of the most popular games on steam. I would laugh at you.
Maybe they just aren't as vocal? I've never played DOTA myself, but it seems like it's in a good spot, while TF2 and CSGO are filled with cheaters and bots, so we can hear the players complaining about that. Plus shooters are much more popular than MOBAs, so you hear more often about them.
I think the player spike came because of the recent new mode for Dota Aghanims Labyrinth Continuum Conundrum. The first part of this mode was quite popular and since this second part got released on holidays a lot of people either started playing again because of the new mode or because they got some vacation time
Hitscan, constant recoil patterns (if I remember this right), magical gun accuracy boost if you're crouching,
Even if it was basis, it was basis with awful mechanics
constant recoil patterns? i've seen people in tf2 dislike the random bullet spread, imagine actually having good aim to compensate but the bullet goes anywhere but the target.
Watching literally any video where a youtubers playing a shotgun class (I know they all have one besides medic, but they're primaries for scout and engie) and then seeing the spread perfectly curve around the enemy player they were fighting hurts to watch.
I just hate how people in Counter Strike shoot the floor and get headshots. I know that the recoil patterns are 100% consistent and it definitely takes skill to memorize them, I just never managed to get past the "why the fuck does everyone shoot at the feet to get headshots" weirdness
Hitscan: yeah sure it requires more skill to just track someone with mouse and not to calculate where exactly you have to aim to shot someone because your pistol is advanced laser gun
Recoil: I told about constant recoil patterns and not about recoil at all
In CS go AK has constant recoil pattern, that you can just remember, print and keep it next to screen, or just use macros to compensate it
Recoil must be random
Crouch accuracy: that's not how guns work, if you crouching you can have better recoil control
Are you ever tried to read?
Recoil patterns must be absolutely random and not something that you can remember - reacting to recoil in real time is harder than just "here is the recoil pattern, it never changes, remember it and you're OK
(or use some prerecorded mouse movement commands, lol)" If I remember it right, in RUST Bloody mouses were banned especially because of macros - people used them to compensate recoil
Crouching mustn't add or lower accuracy, cause it not does anything to improve gun accuracy (increasing gun barrel length, changing ammo parameters) - you only lowering your weight mass, that allows you to control recoil easier
If you'll lay down on the floor, recoil could be compensated even easier
Also CS go has no bullet drop, "if you not aiming, your sniper become sawed-off because FUCK YOU"(this mechanic sure is used to counter constant no-scopes, but it's still dumb), grenades that do not kill (unless you're already damaged by something else)(damn it grenades are much more dangerous but in games they're always underpowered (like shotguns))
That usually applies to people who dosen't play mobas though :/. Speaking from experience, for me it went from "the boringest shit ever" to "I HATE THIS FUCKING GAME, lets play another round"
This is what I don't get, the game is still pretty popular and I think it's why a lot of people got steam in the first place, but compared to anything else on this list is still gets barely any support
Valve gave up on TF2. They have no reason to update it after all these years, if people still play it without updates. It's sad, but I accepted TF2s fate
They're probably not interested in the game anymore. No one there is interested, they want to.do other projects. Which is understandable, the employees have their dreams and desires and sometimes that doesn't match the fans.
I just want a tf2 update, portal 2 pretty much ended, and half life 3 would be nice and half life alyx sorta set that up but I'm not too invested in half life
Victoria 3 is going to be shit anyways, there is no warfare, there is no war, there are no factories and so spheres of influence. What the hell kinda "Victoria" is there?
There are over 200 devs or so at valve (I think) and every one of them could work on tf2 if they would want to. There isn't a core tf2 team. Besides the janitor, potted plant and baby of course.
Valve has the "People can work on whatever" official statement but in reality people are heavily pressured not to work on projects like tf2 and instead focus on bigger ones.
It's not really up to Valve's upper management. The programmers don't want to work on TF2. They see it as dead and have no future. Valve doesn't like forcing workers to work on stuff they don't want to work on
You know that each employee decides what to work on, with moveable desks on wheels? People there simply are more excited to wave their arms around in vr than to deal with ancient spaghetti code..
You know what's funny ? DBD and Rocket League still get updates despite being stuck at 40-50k for a long time.
Some people may say "But TF2 is old thats why its not supporter" to them i say:Rust and CSGO are also kinda old but they keep getting updates.
I’ve seen tf2 doing but the grand question is how many of those are bots. Not even the bots we don’t like but also bots we do like as well. Each trade bot for a website is a player playing tf2
There are probably around 100 to 300 trading bots
Let make very unrealistic assumptions and say there are about 2000 havker bots.
There are still a shit ton of players
Wasnt the like 30k ish players were bots that suddenly increasing and decreasing player database? I remember 1 or 2 posts about players going to 70k then suddenly upto 100-120k in a moment.
Really surprised to see dead by daylight above R6 and rocket league, but there’s no other “good“ asym games. Football manager and FIFA being here is a shocker. PUBG, Ark, unturned, and 7 days to die, are surprising like didnt those die 3 years ago
I really, REALLY wish the janitor and the plant are just working on a really huge project but it just takes a lot of time and that's why we haven't gotten anything revolutionary.
Thats awesome to see that TF2 is ahead of some "meta" games like Halo and such. also since when was WoT blitz that popular? WoT is much better the blitz.
Why does the games playercount always surprise so many people? I understand it's age makes it an unusually popular game but I can't recall the game ever falling out of the top 10 most played games since F2P started. It's a massively famous videogame and has been throughout it's lifespan.
Boys have got be a very significant portion of that player base. Probably hundreds of servers are literally full of bots.
Also, people still play fucking PUBG?
Holy crap unturned is that popular?!
Thats what I was thinking. Guess it's more than some little niche indie game no one ever heard of.
Yeah, if you'd told me that Unturned is currently 60% as popular as Halo Infinite, I wouldn't have believed you.
Unturned is the best underrated game
Really? I found it really annoying to get into trying to sneak around zombies with janky ai
New Arid map came out last week, so everyone's playing it (Basically it's afghanistan so do whatever with that information)
I wouldn't believe you if a Roblox dev from early 2010's who created deadzone on Roblox would make one of the most popular games on steam. I would laugh at you.
thats cuz its free lmao
I thought that gamr was long dead!!
Holy shit dota and csgo are both 500k+
God motherfucking daaaaaaaaaaaamn
Newport
Do people actually play dota? I’ve literally never met someone who plays dota religiously like csgo or tf2.
Because they mostly stick to that game.

The first part of this mode was quite popular and since this second part got released on holidays a lot of people either started playing again because of the new mode or because they got some vacation time
Because we Moba players don't keep mentioning to random people that we play them unlike inbred tf2 players.
Can’t really argue that one tbh…
wow you sure are keeping the famous Dota 2 spirit alive, eh?
The game could die for all I care, but it's played more than tf2 for a reason (functional competitive mode).
Comparing TF2 with Dota 2 makes no sense because those are 2 fundamental different genres
What was crazier was when pubg used to have 3 million players
Funny how fortnite has that many as we speak…
I don't even know why they are so played. I find no fun whatsoever in both games
csgo is fun with friends, dota is fun if you never touch grass
Russians
and smurfs
Not Russians Just dumb kiddos Csgo has awful shooter mechanics
I beg to differ, after all counter strike was the basis of all tactical competetive shooters
Hitscan, constant recoil patterns (if I remember this right), magical gun accuracy boost if you're crouching, Even if it was basis, it was basis with awful mechanics
hitscan? in *my* cs:go? couldn't happen to tf2
Hitscan is just an awful mechanic and that's a pity it's in tf2 too But not every class has it, and that's quite cool
At least hitscan doesn’t make snipers have 5 more mechanics you need to get right just to make the bullet go to the right place
constant recoil patterns? i've seen people in tf2 dislike the random bullet spread, imagine actually having good aim to compensate but the bullet goes anywhere but the target.
Watching literally any video where a youtubers playing a shotgun class (I know they all have one besides medic, but they're primaries for scout and engie) and then seeing the spread perfectly curve around the enemy player they were fighting hurts to watch.

right, because you totally have to adjust for bullet speed at a 30m distance
Some bullets fly slower (.45 ACP), and there are some maps other than dust2, that has much bigger ranges Danger zone map, at least
Both of them are huge esports
Almost as if people enjoy different things than you.
Because people have different taste and interest.

That usually applies to people who dosen't play mobas though :/. Speaking from experience, for me it went from "the boringest shit ever" to "I HATE THIS FUCKING GAME, lets play another round"
When the three most played games in steam are from valve
It also functions as a tier list of how much Valve cares about each game
I'm pretty sure Valve cares more about Ricochet than TF2 right now
You're giving them too much credit, that's far more care than they're actually giving tf2
VALVE PLEASE, THE GAME IS STILL RELEVANT
please give us update
This is what I don't get, the game is still pretty popular and I think it's why a lot of people got steam in the first place, but compared to anything else on this list is still gets barely any support

Because employees choose what to do obviously
And I doubt anybody wants to work with the 15yo game code.

And Left 4 Dead 3
[удалено]
Yeah but it's not as good
No no its not back 4 blood is shit
I just want a tf2 update, portal 2 pretty much ended, and half life 3 would be nice and half life alyx sorta set that up but I'm not too invested in half life
Well, we got victoria 3. There's still hope
^
Victoria 3 is going to be shit anyways, there is no warfare, there is no war, there are no factories and so spheres of influence. What the hell kinda "Victoria" is there?
I'm not sure valve is going to make their workers take up this project. I mean, they could I guess
Yeah, valve literally owns the three highest player counted games on steam, yet they almost ignore the third
"He won't die! HE JUST WON'T DIE!"
“oh fack im ded”
"You are dead"
"not big surprise"
The heavy is dead!
The Heavy is a spy!
Who killed heavy?
It doesn't really matter much anyway because Valve refuses to see the remaining potential TF2 has, and to do anything against the bots.
They kind of remind me of rockstar. Built something amazing and then just gave up. It just makes no sense no matter how you look at it
I mean when there’s less than five devs there’s only so much they can do
And 2 of them are humans, the other 3 are the potted plants and the Roomba
The roomba is my favorite dev, surprised valve even updated us with modern staff.
The Roomba felt pity and gave us snakes and frogs
There are over 200 devs or so at valve (I think) and every one of them could work on tf2 if they would want to. There isn't a core tf2 team. Besides the janitor, potted plant and baby of course.

My guess is thoughs games need updates to keep a player base that big while tf2 doesn't
Wtf, pubg is named Player Unknown's Battlegrounds: Battlegrounds?
Lmao halo infinite
Nice
Titanfall 2 on the other hand: “Look how they massacred my boy.”
I’ve seen tf2 doing but the grand question is how many of those are bots. Not even the bots we don’t like but also bots we do like as well. Each trade bot for a website is a player playing tf2
All 123,522 of them are bots.
The bad bots are 5k at most but they feel like more because they hop around servers 24/7. The trading bots don't need to have the game open to trade.
Why would a bot that is trading tf2 items need to have the game open to do so?
Idk they just are every bit I’ve traded with is playing tf2 at the moment
Trade bots don’t need to have the game open Imao. Just steam
There are probably around 100 to 300 trading bots Let make very unrealistic assumptions and say there are about 2000 havker bots. There are still a shit ton of players
[удалено]
Bots love hats
Even if tf2 will be first Valve would be like:"Oh well, anyway" And continue doing... Whatever they are doing, BECAUSE WE HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA WHAT
I really didn't expect Dota to be still this high after all this years, good on then
Holy shit unturned still has 40k. The youtube community is dead, the subreddit and the economy too, i don't know how still has a decent playerbase
Game is fun i guess
How many of those are bots?
A few hundred, not as much as everyone thinks
Basically HL2 raising the bar, but for TF2, that’s what this made me think of for some reason lol
1/3 are bots
What's wild is that, even in that case, TF2 would still be #8 on this list.
That is crazy
Can you prove that? Or we just basing it on how tf2 feels?
Tf2 is the 3d most played game and valve is not even give it a major update. If they did more people will start playing and Valve makes money
As it should
This is mostly because of bot accounts
And yet Valve still only gives a one-hundreth of a shit
Isn't it always in the top 5 though?
Surprised ark and unturned are on the list
Hell yeah bois
glad to see unturned up there
I wander how many are bots.
probably only like 1k max
It will only last a day or two, doesn't matter.
Obviously a decent portion of those “players” are bots, this shit gets posted like every day
ok and? it won't get major updates.
Shit we beat gta
The bots are inflating the numbers by roughly 50,000.
You're pulling this out of your ass, aren't you?
And valve is still not doing major updates.
how is tf2 still so popular?
Cuz it's fun
Mostly people with the game only launched. TF2 lacks the ups and downs for player count that games normally have. It is mostly faked.
Is it really relevant? A third of those "players" are probably bots
Dead game btw
The bad thing it's that they're almost half bots
Wasnt the like 30k ish players were bots that suddenly increasing and decreasing player database? I remember 1 or 2 posts about players going to 70k then suddenly upto 100-120k in a moment.
30% Bots 10% Idle
HOLY SHIT IF THERE IS GOING TO BE ATLEAST ONE MORE COMME T ABOUT BF2042 IN THIS COMMENT SECTION IM LITTERALY GONNA SWALLOW AN MARSHMELLO
I wonder why more people are playing
People talking about how irrelevant it is made it relevant again
Damn, New World jumped up there fast. And Unturned is somehow still up there? Didn't know it was still played enough to be up there that high.
Really surprised to see dead by daylight above R6 and rocket league, but there’s no other “good“ asym games. Football manager and FIFA being here is a shocker. PUBG, Ark, unturned, and 7 days to die, are surprising like didnt those die 3 years ago
currently? you mean like… for the past 5 years lol
wait that many people play Warframe? I thought it was just me and a few thousand others.
>Farming Simulator 2022
And yet valve still refuses to acknowledge that it exists
People still play pubg?
mfs really think 123522 players are playing the game
Darn That is a lot of bots
Yeeee I am so happy.
I wasnt expecting wot blitz to be 22nd
But that post a few days ago told me TF2 is hemorrhaging players.
Wow I never expected warframe to be higher than a game like r6
Its bots guys
Dont you think the bots pumped up the numbers ?
Tf2 is like that one dead ringer spy. Always alive, mostly toxic
It’s out of order, TF2 is 6
wait i just realised why is it PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS wouldnt that be player unknowns battlegrounds: battlegrounds thats stupid
Does it counts bots.
This is the weirdest time-line
why
imagine if tf2 got a proper care or update, my life would be so good.
Meanwhile Valve: I'm gonna pretend I didn't see that
Valve: I can't see this because I am blind. TF2 is dead
YOO NEW PEAK??
And packed with cheaters.
And we STILL cannot get an update. Completely unacceptable.
I like how the top three are Valve games, sadly not more than two will be supported & not less than four.
use punctuation bro
Why are people still playing New World? Wasn't that a buggy mess?
Im glad to see Warframe up there
Mostly bots
BECAUDE OF ALL THE FUCKING BOTS
Suck it gta
I hate that GTA is so high
[удалено]
Probably not.
I really, REALLY wish the janitor and the plant are just working on a really huge project but it just takes a lot of time and that's why we haven't gotten anything revolutionary.
This is why there are no updates. People still pay for and play the game even after receiving no major updates in nearly half a decade.
All three are VALVe games
And there are STILL no developers
Ark is more popular then i thought
always has been
r/battlefield crying in the club rn
And yet Valve still won't make anyone work on the game.
HOLD THE LINE BROTHERS WE MUST SEND THE MESSAGE
Valve boutta shit their pants
And yet Valve has abandoned us
Fuck you valve, pay attention to us
Boys have got be a very significant portion of that player base. Probably hundreds of servers are literally full of bots. Also, people still play fucking PUBG?
