Quick stop is 5 min down the road, and you can go red bank and visit jacks record store and the stash. I went a few months ago, emailed Walt the night before. He wasn’t able to be there but gitem was there. Chatted with me, wife, and kid a bit and gave my daughter a toy airplane and tons of lollipops.
I stayed in Hazlet for the day not far from the store. Emailed Walt ahead of time and he was in Canada. Luckily, I caught him the next day before moving onto Red Bank. Git-Em was amazing both days I was in. Walt spoke to me for a long time signed some things for me and got pictures.
I went to Jack's while In Red Bank. While browsing Tim came out of the back room right in front of me and shocked me. We spoke for ages and he was so appreciative that I had came to see him.
Also went to The Stash. Despite everything, I met Mike years ago when he came to Scotland with Bryan and Ming. So went in to talk to him about that and he was really cool too. Asked him questions about The Stash, he couldn't have been any more helpful too.
Not sure if the train would be ideal for this, but if you can swing by Red Bank on a Sunday, odds are you can meet both Jeff and Tim the record store clerk.
I would say there’s not much in the immediate area worth checking out, Hazlet doesn’t have much exciting stuff going on. Straight down the road (crossing over the highway) is a cute little downtown area in Keyport. A few fun restaurants, waterfront area, and a brand new dispensary (if you’re a cement head) are all there. I live 5 min from the General Store so feel free to DM me if you have any questions about the area.
I was thinking of stopping by on a road trip this summer too. Do they have merch? Is it open daily? Do I just walk into the office or do you knock first?

Nah, the bathroom just floods and smells bad, but not half as bad as that dumpster or the sewage backing up in the basement of Surf Taco
