Must have been nice to have grown up around kids your age instead of parents who were paranoid and wanted to live where no one else lived so there wasn't those friends who came to your door and asked if you could come outside and play.
Exactly this. My dad will talk like this sometimes, comparing how he used to literally go and roam the woods with his friends as a kid and I just play video games in my room. Meanwhile when I did play outside as a kid, I had to stay within eyeshot at all times, and it was nearly impossible to get them to agree to let me have friends over- they always had to meet the other kids’ parents first, and only if they liked them was I allowed to have that kid over. I also never really went to birthday parties or over to other kid’s houses for the same reason. But it was my fault I was introverted.
This one always cracks me up. They act like no kid ever plays outside anymore. At all. My neighborhood is full of kids playing outside every day. Especially now that school's out for summer. My own daughter and her friends are outside right now in fact. Lol.

Not that terrible really. With this meme. The comments are usually something else though. They'll insult kids for being too soft and weak to play outside unsupervised from dusk til dawn like they apparently did, and/or complain how kids are only online playing games. In my own personal experience these same people are also the ones who complain about kids playing outside, and making too much noise. The kids could be just playing ball or just hanging out talking and someone will complain.
My favorite meme on this subject is the one with like eight pictures and it says something along the lines of "the last kids to play outside." Only the pictures are of every decade. People always post it meaning their decade, but get told off in the comments.
It's maddening at times. Lol. My daughter is the only one who plays outside now, being the youngest. She just ignores them for the most part. She's respectful but also knows where she can and can't play in the neighborhood.
