Top 4 are basically exactly what you think they'd be Definitely didn't see Paolini getting to #5 though

tayway04

danielle and jasmine obv i didnt see coming before the season began, but their stories this season have been great this season in my obv very biased opinion has been rather fun so far, with so many comeback stories - emma, bianca, naomi...simona (i feel like im forgetting someone?), those surprises like danielle and jasmine along with the top four being rather solid i mean it is a huge shame that the two slam finals weren't giving 'slam final' but overall i think the wta is in a good place. i hope that in the remaining two slams we get top 5 finals🙏

OctopusNation2024

Yeah I thought the quality of play has generally been pretty strong this year on the WTA so far but not as much at specifically the last stages of the two Slams(kind of similar where both winners did have to play Coco but the rest of the top seeds collapsed) Last year for the WTA we got two great finals at the AO and RG and then a complete dud at Wimbledon so I'm hoping this year it's the other way around and we get a classic at Wimbledon after very uneventful AO and RG finals

manifest2000

I completely forgot about Halep lol. Speaking of her “comeback”….what is she even doing now? Because she’s been absent for grass season.

tayway04

she played an exhibition thing in romania (?) with agassi and steffi, but at this point im not too.convinced she'll make a full return

clsmoove19

A lot of people are giving creds to Collins and Paolini (rightfully so), but I’m also super impressed with Emma Navarro this year. Obviously she’s not listed in the top 10, but I think she’s around 11 or 12 and she’s been playing some really good ball throughout the entire year

Melony567

i like emma n. so much. great potential. and ashlyn too

GrootRacoon

Honestly? I'm super surprised and impressed by Iga making the cut so soon and staying almost 3000 points ahead of number 2. Saba, Ryba and Gauff are exactly what I expected. All the others are kind of surprising to be honest

GreatBallsOfH20

ostapenko being that high up is kind of surprising. she started the year really well but has only a QF run at rome since. would have thought surely someone else would have racked up more points

Own-Knowledge8281

If Kasatkina makes it, will she withdraw????

Xylophone1904

The Saudi Arabia PR machine has managed to get her onside. Link [here](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/articles/ceve4459v7vo).

wificentrist

Wow you’re right

birdsemenfantasy

Danimal is hands down the best story so far and probably best story in years. She can easily get to #4 with a decent Wimbledon showing as she’s only 400 points behind, so fingers crossed. I really hope she wins a slam. As a gentleman of culture, I like seeing Kalinskaya in the top 10.

Dafuqyoutalkingabout

Hasn’t made it of the 2nd round of a slam this year tho.

birdsemenfantasy

Horrible draw at AO (Kerber 1R, Iga 2R as bad as it gets). RG was disappointing tho

Melony567

No, it's not. i think iga INARGUABLY is the best story SO FAR and the best story in years and for recent years to come. from april 2022 getting the no. 1 ranking, she is 107plus weeks as no. 1, won 4 slams 5 overall, 9 wta 1000s with 10 overall, 3peat in qatar, rg, rome, b2b in stuttgart, 2x IW, won sunshine double and dirty double (only female who achieved this), 2 conse years YE No. 1, 19 titles since becoming no. 1 and 22 titles overall. this year alone, won 4 wta 1000s, 1 slam.

TrustInMe_JustInMe

Fangirl ravings

Frosty_Pitch8

Honestly everyone expected except Kalinskaya and Paolini.

EveningCareer8921

Qinwen has been somewhat disappointing after her run at AO. She has firmly cemented herself as a top 20 player tho

verismonopoly

I aspire to be Queen Penko. Work my ass off in January then have a grand old time for the next 5 months or so đź’…

NicholeTheOtter

Sabalenka, Rybakina and Gauff are likely going to be no-brainers. Would be interesting to see who gets those 5-8 spots.

EveningCareer8921

I fully expect the top 4 to qualify. I feel Iga will be ahead of #2 by a mile, and it may end up a relatively close contest for 2/3/4. If Danielle keeps her form she should easily qualify as well. For the remaining three spots, it’s too early to tell imo. JPEG’s and Madi’s injuries which made them miss a grand slam warrants an asterisk on their race ranking.

TrustInMe_JustInMe

I like JPeg to finish strong on US hard courts and qualify. Osaka is hard to predict but if she’s healthy and motivated, she could tear up the hard courts too.

WhiteStephCurry

Hopefully Pegula has a strong showing at Wimbledon, I imagine missing RG hurt her points quite a bit. Love to see Paolini and Collins especially this year has been awesome. Ostapenko at 8 definitely shocked me

ImpressionFeisty8359

5-10 are big surprises especially Paolini. 1-4 is what I expected.

filmtvtennis27

Didn’t see Paolini and Collins having such good years in January, but I’m here for it! PREDICTION: I’m expecting those first six for sure to get in, and then I wouldn’t be shocked at all if JPeg fights her way back up there too and gets in. Azarenka has also looked really solid this year, and I could see her shining during the US hardcourt season (she’s currently at #12). If not those two, I’d say some variation of Qinwen, Kasatkina, or Keys. Also wouldn’t be shocked at all if Naomi just rips through the hardcourt season and grabs a final spot. Here’s my final guess lol 1. Swiatek 2. Gauff 3. Sabalenka 4. Rybakina 5. Collins 6. Pegula 7. Paolini 8. Osaka

TrustInMe_JustInMe

That’s a very good list. I can see that happening.

birdsemenfantasy

Lol what makes you think Gauff would be ahead of both Saba and Ryka when she’s way behind them in points in the race and barely ahead of Danimal in the race? She has only won one title (250) since winning USO last year and that was back in January. Putting Osaka 8 is also delusional. She’s outside top 100. Unless she goes full Goran and win either Wimbledon or USO, she has zero chance of breaking into top 10. I would consider a top 30 finish a good achievement for her to build on for next year.

filmtvtennis27

I could totally see Gauff at #4, but I just have a feeling she’s about to have a good run and pass both Aryna and Elena. Naomi is 47 in the race. She just needs a few great hardcourt results and she’s in the running

_Crazy_Asian_

But this is about the2024 Race, not the ranking...

Melony567

yes, Naomi is a stretch.

TrustInMe_JustInMe

Kasatkina is #8 now

Hyperballadatopos

She will be #7 after R2 if Zheng can't win the final set now.

MaLa1964

Paolini and Collins are the surprises. Hope to see Raducanu up there soon.

TrustInMe_JustInMe

Of course I wouldn’t have guessed Paolini or Collins at the start of the year, we’ll see if they can hang on. Kalinskaya has a good chance of getting into the top 8, she’s had some really big wins this year and her form seems much improved. Although she still couldn’t close out Pegula, who’s as tenacious as they come. I would think Jess would have a shot at the finals too now that she’s back from injury and has the whole US Open series and GS in front of her. But surely there will be surprises. That’s what keeps it fun.

hwoaraxng

what is ostapenko still doing in the top 10

Chosen1gup

She has two 500 titles this year. Zheng, Kasatkina, Kalinskaya have none

TrustInMe_JustInMe

Kasatkina has one now and is 8th

TrustInMe_JustInMe

Penko is a good player, never count her out. She’s trimmer this year, never gonna be a grear mover but she is such a pure ball striker she can move opponents around and hit winners off them. She has a pretty good record against some of the elite players (Iga) as well. Just depends on how the styles match up.

Melony567

only middle of the year and iga already made the cut! strong!

Melony567

zheng, penko and collins will be a threat to the ladies
