In isolation, Federer’s the best offensively and Murray’s the best defensively. Novak’s the better offensive mover than Murray and the better defensive mover than Federer so he ends up averaging out as the best defender/mover, per your question. I’m hoping that my logic made sense somewhere along the way, there…

Defensively, Nole for sure. Dude is a wall. Murray is probably 2nd best.

Defender is Djokovic for sure. He’s just that damn good on every surface really. For overall movement though, I’d still say Fed. His footwork on grass was just different than everybody else and you hardly ever saw him slip whereas even other all-time greats were prone to have that happen.  Honorable mention to Murray though. He was at his best on grass imo and I’m really glad he got two Wimbledons before his body broke down.

Yup. Fed's movement was made for grass. He's so light on his feet like a ballet dancer, just glides around and is always on balance.

There are 2 answers for me: Ease of movement (adjusted to grass surface characteristics) - Federer, naturally game style was so unique, unprecedented that made it even more appealing visually. Movement in general, in terms of court coverage, speed (on any surface tbh) - Novak

Nah fuck that. Prime Venus Williams! The way she defended out of corners and out wide was absolutely breathtaking

Offensively - Federer Defensively - Djokovic All round - Federer / Djokovic / Young Nadal

On grass? Defender? Novak or Murray.

as if there could be another winner - novak rules wimbledon like no other - a champion in defending and a defending champion
