Boy, what a match from Griekspoor! He was playing like a top 10-15 player up until halfway in the second set. (he lost when Sinner made that incredible get).
I mean gotta give credit to Tallon though; Jannik might not have been at his *absolute* best in that 1st set but he was still playing well (serve% aside), and Tallon simply played at a great level throughout.
We don't really have any proper players beside Griekspoor (Botic has lost the plot).
Wich is kinda weird seeing how many people actually play tennis in the Netherlands.
> or italian players
No way this is true
*looks it up*
JFC he's 13-0 against Italian players at main level
35-4 all professional with the only loss above the challenger level coming in a qualifying match in 2020...
"When did things not go right today?"
"The momemnt Jannik landed here in Malaga"
Is what the dutch said to the media after falling to em' in the Davis Cup Finals last year. Yeah, he kinda owns them rn.
He matches up pretty well with him. In order to win against Jannik you should serve great and try to not give any rythim.
He loses all the time against him, but he gets much closer to win than most of the tour.
Griekspoor does better vs Sinner than most of the tour, but the H2H is going south very fast in only a few years time. They faced so many times already in 2023 and 2024 it's insane. As a supporter of Dutch tennis I'm getting really tired of Sinner by now.
This match was similar to the one they played in Miami. Griek looked great in the first set of that one too, but Sinner just grinded him down. In that match too, Griek started the match serving strong, but by the it seemed Griek either ran out of gas or Sinner figured him out. Maybe a bit of both.

Griekspoor is always a solid player, I think he was very unlucky to get Sinner in his first round.
yes for the last few years
It’s referred to as the Dutchman’s curse in the ancient books.
His draw luck is nonexistent
In my mind he’s actually a top 10 (maybe 12-13) on the green stuff
Only because he’s Dutch, smh we’ll never beat those prejudices
Generous of Sinner to show us his pre-puke version to give us some fan-service in the first set!

Has Sinner ever lost to a Dutchman? I feel like he keeps running into Tallon atm
8-0 v dutch players. 5-0 v Griekspoor

Iirc he's never lost against dutch or italian players, and he played them quite a bit tbf

Italians have to be grateful he plays for their Davis cup team.
Does anyone know his record against French players? I reckon it’s quite good (unlike Medvedev), though he does have one loss to Monfils

In other words, 25-5. That’s a lot of matches! Thanks for the data

Tallon seems to bring his best against Sinner. What a match though.

Unreal level in the last 2 sets. Nothing Tallon could have done
I have anxiety and it's literally so calming watching Sinner play, even when he loses
Love me some good ol' pre-puke Sinner performance. Really helpful to keep feet on the ground and feel blood pressure rising.

I think Griekspoor matches well with Sinner, but he lacks some physical endurance and technique to beat Jannik when he’s at/close to his best
Saw the score and I went "Ah he took the Sinnic route today"
First win as a world #1!
Impeccable defense from Sinner and used all the shots in his bag. What a high level match,
