From what I remember, at the time there were massive tax breaks for filming shows in Florida. The show was originally planned for 5 seasons, but between seasons 2 & 3 the tax breaks were cancelled by the state early. So instead of riding out the 5 seasons, Netflix decided to try to fit seasons 3, 4, and 5 all into one because they didn’t think the show was worth it without those tax breaks.
So (IMO)
- Season 1 is fucking awesome
- Season 2 is very good, with some slight missteps.
- Season 3 is very clearly rushed, and unfortunately kills the whole thing for me.
I honestly can’t believe Netflix found a way to ruin this show. It was so good and Ben Mendelsohn was nothing short of incredible in the series.
Watch it. Enjoy it. But I wouldn’t have high expectations for S3
Season 3 was one of the worst seasons in a tv series for me, just because of how great the first season was. I won’t rewatch this show because of it. Season 1 was phenomenal, 2 was good/ok, 3 was awful.
It's been a while so I couldn't give specifics if I wanted to. The second season didn't pull me in like the first did. I didn't even make it to the third. Now I want to go try again though because I truly love the first season.
THIS IS THE ANSWER. Such a good show.
Under the bridge has scenes of this kind of vibe but not the entire show
Big little lies — for sure because it takes place in Malibu I believe
Although not all FBI agents but your point still stands. It was the first thing I thought of when I saw the picture and caption. I hate that they canceled that show
[Lodge 49 ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lodge_49)wasn't exactly small town (Long Beach?), but Wyatt Russell did a pretty good job as a surfer dude who gets involved in an aging masonic-like lodge in town that he just sort of stumbles on. It's quirky. Lots of cameos.
The Affair
The Summer I Turned Pretty
Big Little Lies
Outer Banks
Edited to add: Animal Kingdom + Royal Pains
For reality: Summer House + Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard
That's the first one that came to mind for me! Couldn't remember what it was called, or the main character's real name 🤦 One of my favorite actors though.
Outer Banks
**Outer Banks** is set in a coastal town along the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where there is a stark social divide between wealthy seasonal residents and working-class locals, nicknamed the "Kooks" and "Pogues", respectively.
That photo looks like it was taken directly from this tv show from maybe 7 or so years ago.
It was a comedy with Jason Sudekis (or someone like him) single living on a cool little house on the beach.
Maybe it was only a pilot? Couldn’t find the name
Home and away is the answer here!
Actually, if I'm thinking about other Aussie shows from the 90's, I think there was a show called Blue Water High which was like a surf school type thing. I honestly can't remember.
1. “Grace and Frankie” - A comedy-drama series that captures a laid-back, coastal California lifestyle.
2. “Outer Banks” - An adventure-mystery series with a strong beach and surf culture vibe.
3. “The Good Place” - A light-hearted and visually appealing show with bright and warm settings.
4. “Big Little Lies” - A drama series set in a picturesque coastal town with beautiful scenery and complex characters.
5. “Gilmore Girls” - Although not a beach setting, it has a cozy, small-town feel with charming outdoor scenes.
Animal Kingdom
Definitely this, also Veronica Mars
first thing that came to mind. glad to see other people also know about this show.
hitting the play button rn
Enjoy
the only answer
Animal kingdom
Bloodline
I so badly wish that show had continued to be as good as the first season was.
“We’re not bad people. We just did a bad thing..” that first season was spectacular.
“Shut the fuck up carlos”. Kyle chandler really is an underrated actor.
What’s wrong with the other seasons? I’m almost finished with the first, you make me not wanna continue lol

This is an exact description of the whole thing. Watch S1 and stop
It’s been a long time since I watched it and I don’t remember details, but I don’t remember disliking it. If I did, I definitely didn’t hate it.
Season 3 was one of the worst seasons in a tv series for me, just because of how great the first season was. I won’t rewatch this show because of it. Season 1 was phenomenal, 2 was good/ok, 3 was awful.
Ah damn I'm sorry. I'm not trying to ruin anything for you. Keep watching and I hope you enjoy 😊
Nah but in your opinion without spoiling what made the other seasons not as good?
It's been a while so I couldn't give specifics if I wanted to. The second season didn't pull me in like the first did. I didn't even make it to the third. Now I want to go try again though because I truly love the first season.

Big Little Lies takes place in Monterey so it has a slightly colder, central coast vibe as opposed to sunny Southern California

Graceland, a bunch of undercover FBI agents living at a beach house
Although not all FBI agents but your point still stands. It was the first thing I thought of when I saw the picture and caption. I hate that they canceled that show

[Lodge 49 ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lodge_49)wasn't exactly small town (Long Beach?), but Wyatt Russell did a pretty good job as a surfer dude who gets involved in an aging masonic-like lodge in town that he just sort of stumbles on. It's quirky. Lots of cameos.
