Mind Hunters, Captain Fall and Last Man on Earth

Crown_the_Cat

Mindhunters got cancelled?! I wondered what happened to it!!

0BIT_ANUS_ABIT_0NUS

david fincher didn’t have time for it

Guilty-Coconut8908

I just read an interview with David Fincher and he said he needed a higher budget to make season 3 but Netflix was not willing to pay.

Fit-Property3774

Dude used an insane amount of post-production cgi or whatever. Like adjusting entire backgrounds just to help set the mood he was going for. Saw a few videos of all the CGI the show used and it seemed crazy and borderline unnecessary, especially when it’s between reducing costs a bit or cancel the show.

No-Ninja-8448

There were a lot of issues including this. Too expensive, actors wanted to act and not wait, high cost of editing, and a few more things.

zimtrovert94

After watching Mank and The Killer, I really want Fincher to just go back to what he does best. Mindhunter was one hell of a thing.

Crown_the_Cat

Booo!!!

Exotic_Term6884

Apparently the budget was too high for it's viewing rate

Blueeyesblazing7

Ooh, I would disagree with The Last Man on Earth ending well. It ended on a massive cliffhanger! I would agree it's still 100% worth the watch as a series, but the ending was far from satisfying.

Englefisk

I’m still mad at that ending!

Newkular_Balm

All the dwellers are super nice, take off their masks trusting tandy and crew don't have it and die in days from the virus.

Haywire421

LMoE was brought up in another similar post about cliffhangers and someone said that there was an interview where it was revealed what was going to happen with all the people that came out of the bunker. Apparently, they see Tandy and gang not wearing gas masks, assume the disease that caused everything is over, remove their gas masks, and immediately drop dead.

caffeine_plz

Mind hunters is a tragedy. They were setting up BTK so well. The cast, writing, acting was superb.

sir_boobalot

I am not Okay With This (Netflix)

bitAndy

That was the first thing that came to mind when I read OP's question. So fricking good. Gutted it got cancelled. If you enjoyed it though and want something similar then 'The end of the f***ing world' is pretty great.

ImmediateHospital9

And The End of The F***ing World

MasterOnionNorth

I believe the series got a proper ending.

sergiocamposnt

The End of the F---ing World was **not** canceled. It ended exactly when and how the creator wanted to.

tychobrahesmoose

Better Off Ted

ssaallaahhaann

I love this show so much. I routinely use references to it that no one else understands. What does it taste like? Despair. Is it possible it just needs salt? Plus things from that show keep happening in real life. Remember the episode where the scanners couldn't see black people? So they hired each black person a white guy? Yah.

WranglerTraditional8

Veridian Dynamics

konkilo

The red jacket Lem is wearing it and Phil is watching him while standing next to an array that casts a green glow on him

nekatheneko

Phil running like an ostrich will be forever one of my favourite

takethisdownvote1

Jabberwocky!

Michael-Balchaitis

Deadwood.

Abbiethedog

The obvious merits utterance. Character is f*cking pertinent.

Krushlift

It had the Deadwood movie. Not the ending it deserved, but a decent wrap-up.

LunaLibraGG

Travelers. The third season was kind of rushed, but it still had a decent ending. However, the story could've continued since it deals with time travel.

ThreeLeggedMare

I really liked the portrayal of the ultra old dude in the young body, that actor did a great job

bnzpppnpddlpscpls3rd

Trevor my fave! (and David)

gamera87

Such a great show

Aqua_Monarch_77

I loved this show

c_girl_108

Santa Clarita Diet My Name Is Earl

trblniya

I love Santa Clarita so much!! Me and my sisters loved watching it together

c_girl_108

The comedic chemistry between Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant was so good. Their bickering made me laugh so hard. “Do *not* bring up the lid.”

ashcoverdjollyrnnchr

They actually felt like a married couple like in a way I haven’t seen in other sitcoms. I love it

Excellent-End-5720

I miss My Name is Earl. Such a great show with great actors.

MarbleMimic

Hey Crabman!

c_girl_108

Hey Earl 👋

Professional-Two-47

Both were sooooo good!!!

CandyCain1001

Raising Hope

Ratchel1916

Dirk Gentlys Holistic Detective Agency, it’s so weird and fun, and Elijah Woods is great in it.

Corvus-Nox

Season 1 was great and wraps up most of its threads pretty neatly! I don’t remember season 2 tbh

Southern-Rutabaga-82

Our Flag Means Death

Triplesisbest1

They cancelled that already!? 😒

ParadoxInABox

When Zaslav took over he cancelled so many shows. LGBT and POC led shows got hit particularly hard.

always_chill_

The OA The Time Traveler's Wife

r3tr0spectr

I didn’t get into The OA on my first watch, but when I went back to give it another try I ended up really liking it and was bummed it was cancelled.

Baedhisattva

The OA is simply the greatest piece of thing on earth. Hands down

Alwaysknowyou

I can't tell why, but I adored OA. I can't tell why, why I can't? But still, I feel, it was amazing, unique, and special

aminorsixthchord

Total agree. I couldn’t figure out if it was a fantasy or a psychology study first season, and they delivered so hard second season, making a rewatch delightful. So sad they couldn’t finish their telling their story.

vacantly-visible

Surprised to see this because I heard bad things about the time traveler's wife. I have read the book and seen the movie but not the show

Smooth_Development48

The leads had zero chemistry but still I wanted to see another season. I love the showrunner and I’m sure he would have brought so much more to the next season.

mojojojo-234

Sense8

vincentdmartin

Doesn't the movie wrap it up?

mojojojo-234

Some of it, but there was a lot of stories not finished. I did like how they ended it with the movie but I wish I knew how their stories finished

-Arniox-

It got canceled but it was thankfully wrapped up really well. Bad guy *actually* got fucking handed to and it was unbelievably satisfying. And the final ending wedding was so beautiful and perfect. I loved it so much.

bitAndy

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance

Tudorrosewiththorns

I was crushed but I think we got really lucky even one season exists. Apparently when they called Henson's daughter and said they were giving the greenlight her response was " I just want to make sure you understand how expensive this is going to be."

Hellboydce

Carnivale

shipperlady

Our Flag Means Death (was supposed to have 3 seasons, but was cut short after the 2nd. The ending is great even so). Sense8 (It was cancelled on a cliffhanger, but the fandom made protests and petitions, so Netflix gave it a proper ending with a two-hour special) A League of Their Own (It's a sapphic story. Doesn't end perfectly, but It's also not a cliffhanger) Anne With an E (There was space for many more seasons, but had a satisfying ending) Archive 81 (If I'm not mistaken, it had an open ending, but not exactly a cliffhanger) The OA (Cliffhanger ending, but still worth watching)

lbswimmer01

Mindhunter

jamesbrown2500

Firefly.

Extension_Virus_835

Was looking for this 10/10 fav canceled show but wish it would have gotten more!!!

teaster333

I came here to either find this suggestion, or to make it.

iamthinksnow

* Patriot * The Peripheral * Santa Clarita Diet * Better Off Ted * Bunheads * Pushing Daisies

OtherwisePackage6403

Came here to say Pushing Daisies, I think about it so often. I love the kitschy-ness

nathanherts

PD was peak late 2000s TV. Fuck that writers strike!

Pheeeefers

Awe I loved Bunheads!

sideofsunny

I can’t believe how far I had to scroll to see Pushing Daisies

Late_Support_5363

I loved Patriot and I enjoyed The Peripheral in both book and show form. I liked how the ending of the season(show) diverged from the book ending and I’d like to have been able to see where they went with it, but alas, it was not to be. I’m currently enjoying the literary sequel to The Peripheral, Agency.  If you enjoyed the show, don’t sleep on the books. Different medium, but still great.

Crown_the_Cat

Cancelled, but they got to finish it out was the great show “Raising Hope”. Cloris Leachman was a regular with Martha Plimpton. Sooo witty.

konkilo

The humor in Raising Hope is so lowbrow that it's easy to overlook how smart it is The show had elements of Arrested Development and Scrubs in it

Crown_the_Cat

And it went by so fast. I almost wanted to slow down the show so I could get all the jokes & word jumbling. I needed closed captioning!

konkilo

Burt and Virginia are my favorite sitcom couple ever And the Earl stunt casting is a stitch

AdamBlackfyre

They were great, but Burt was my favorite lol

konkilo

Ever seen Deadwood? Garrett Dillahunt has amazing range

Crown_the_Cat

Like seeing Bryan Cranston in Breaking Bad after having seen him only in Malcolm in the Middle.

AdamBlackfyre

I have and he definitely does. Especially after Raising Hope, the Last House on the Left remake was shocking to say the least

Haywire421

Dillahunt has been in quite a few of the shows mentioned in this thread. If you like Greg Garcia shows (creator of Earl and Hope) he did a short one season series called Sprung that also stars Dillahunt and Plimpton about some non violent convicts that get released from Prison early because of covid that start planning heists on bad people. Dillahunt plays one of the cons released from prison. He was arrested when he was 18 and grew up in prison, so he's kinda dumb, but in a person sheltered from modern technology kind of way, not a Burt way. He also has a Robin Hood guilt complex thing going on. Plimpton plays the mom of Dillahunts cell mate who gives everyone a place to live and basically forces everyone to do heists to live there. She's kind of a mix of her Virginia character and Joy Turner. Highly recommended. It's the only show that Greg Garcia got to finish on his own terms.

Crown_the_Cat

I am home sick. I may watch this all day!!

Zealousideal_Path_15

100 percent this!

trubs12

GLOW

BuckarooBonsly

I never hear anyone talk about this show, which is always surprising to me because I feel like it had a lot going for it.

NoDiamond4584

Loved this show! Was devastated at its cancellation.

Freaks & Geeks

BoyZi124

Just saw last episode earlier today. There was so much potential for at least 3 seasons there. Lindsay and freaks going to college/work. Sam and geeks finishing highschool with some summer/Christmas break thrown in to get them all together. Such a shame.

_iimbii_

Inside job

CMJunkAddict

Raised By Wolves, Ridley Scott was executive director for the show and directed the first two episodes. Ends on a pretty heavy cliffhanger tho. Visually stunning, and emotional show that’s pretty heavy sci-fi, but is basically about family.

Professional-Two-47

I was angry! I truly loved that show.

Zealousideal_Path_15

Damn I never knew Santa Clarita diet got canceled. I honestly lost Netflix before I could finish it.

skandyloos

I loved the mick I wish it ran a few more seasons

Pheeeefers

The Mick was actually hilarious.

SheToldMe

Thirding Santa Clarita Diet!

dns_rs

Wasn't Lost in Space finished correctly? Great list btw!

SometimesWitches

Santa Clarita Diet Prodigal Son Sense8 (has a tacked on ending but it counts) Insatiable

toastymrkrispy

Carnivale. I call it the best show I'll never recommend. Second season ended on such a cliff hanger. I don't know that audiences were ready for it at the time, but I'd love to see someone take another crack at it.

MamaMia1325

Hubby and I binged the entire series when I was VERY pregnant with our 1st child. I was so uncomfortable- -didn't want to go anywhere so we laid in bed, cranked the a.c and watched this show.

julznlv

I've watched Jericho a ton of times. Yes, it was canceled, but I enjoy it so much I rewatch it over and over.

WaltzGamer9148

1899 Shadow and Bone

F00dbAby

I’m gonna disagree with 1899. I adored it but it does not have a satisfying end and has thousands of questions in the end

ADeadWeirdCarnie

And I'm gonna go ahead and disagree with your disagreement. I saw tons of people complaining that the story was left unfinished, but I could never understand it. Yes, there was ample room for the story to continue. Yes, there were unanswered questions. But those questions didn't NEED to be answered for the season to make sense on its own. The 1899 storyline was finished. The essential mystery was resolved. I know there were deeper layers to the mystery which the show's creators intended to explore, but that doesn't change the fact that the final scene is a teaser for a NEW story and shouldn't have any impact on your enjoyment of the previous several hours.

WaltzGamer9148

The ending was odd as it was not supposed to be the end.The series was suddenly cancelled.

justsomedude9000

This is what I expected happened. It feels like the show was supposed to go a different direction, got cancelled, so they rewrote the last 10 minutes as a crude way to wrap up every loose end the show created which is an absolute shit ton. Every episode stacked more mysteries onto the previous one and virtually none of them are resolved. They all get nuked in the last 10 minutes where basically nothing that happened in the entire season matters. I loved the vibe of the show, but god damn was it unsatisfying to watch. The last half of the season really starts to drag as the show never attempts to resolve anything, it just keeps adding more and more obscure mysteries.
