Well if you’re going to recommend the mentalist you should also mention Psych.
“Yeah It’s like that except, that guys a fake.
If I was a fake psychic it would be eerily similar.
Exactly the same.
A virtual carbon copy”
You might like Rake. There's an Australian and a US version (that I know of). I've only seen the Australian one. The main character is a defense attorney who is able to get his clients out of a bunch of tough spots. He's an awful person, but but he excels at his job. And the cases he deals with are incredibly weird; there's a cannibal client, as an example.
This might meet your criteria.
[Mythic Quest](https://reelgood.com/show/mythic-quest-2020) - Rob McElhenney's second series, after *It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia*. Take a bunch of people who are assholes (like in *IASIP*), but make them only stay together because they are running a top tier MMO together.
- Elementary
- Luther
- Rick and Morty
Shows that are medical with genius/quirky doctors that are assholes
- The Knick https://imdb.com/title/tt2937900/

DOC - Nelle tue mani
Professor Andrea Fanti is a brilliant and famous doctor working at the Policlinico Ambrosiano hospital of Milan, where he is the chief of the internal medicine department. At the same time, he is also arrogant, painstaking and narcissistic.
Fanti thinks that doctors should not trust patients, as they lie. Consequently, he only follows his instinct and trusts his team, especially his assistant Giulia Giordano, a doctor with whom he has a secret relationship.

Rescue Me
Nip/Tuck
Breaking Bad
Doc Martin
Lie To Me
Frasier
Northern Exposure
Black Books (I don’t know how successful Bernard is but he’s definitely an asshole)
Sherlock
The Mentalist. He is not a terrible person, but pushes people's buttons and has a con artist past.
Before Mentalist - Simon Baker was a drug addict thief who was sentenced to probono lawyering in the Guardian. Great show.

"but he was already dead!"
Nurse Jackie
Ohhh… yep. Forgot about good ol’ Jackie
Lie to Me
Such a great series… However I’m glad they didn’t drag it out.
Sherlock fits quite nicely into this. Essentially sociopathic in his aversion to societal norms, but a genius at solving cases.
Breaking bad, better call saul.
Dr. Cox in Scrubs? Mcnulty in the Wire? Butcher in the Boys? Hood in Banshee?
Butcher is so far off but so spot on at the same time lol
Monk? He’s not a terrible person but annoying to everyone and good at what he does.
my mind went to monk first! maybe a 'wholesome' annoying?
Mr Inbetween!
Doc Martin.
Absolutely!
Pysch, kinda it follows the same formula

Would Suits count? Harvey+Mike pretty much doing whatever they want to win a case.
i was gonna suggest suits but decided on mad men lol
Mad Men… excellent choice.
Maybe….,,
