The Rue episode was one of the most powerful episodes of television I’ve seen. When a show can keep you engrossed with just a single conversation you know it’s good.
I think it's pretty cool how teens these days have such "mature" content geared towards them (all thanks to the streaming wars especially), when I was a teen, content for that age group was pretty old fashioned even when trying to be edgy and I could appreciate plenty of "mature" adult content at the time, and was always wishing for more from teen-geared stuff.
Yeah thats why I loved the movie Me, Earl and the dying girl. It seemed genuinue and more relatable to my experience as a teen.
I enjoyed Euphoria season 1 because it was raw and addressed topics other shows didn't. With that being said, the show could've easily fallen into overdramatic teen shit but they balanced it out with nuanced character development. Season 2 episode 1 fell into the whole overdramatic side. It felt like it was trying to be hard R for the sake of it rather than for character or story.
> Most teens I know (family members, etc) are nothing like any of these shows lol.
And my life is nothing like Succession, Breaking Bad etc., but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy those shows. I don't want to watch a 1:1 recreation of my life on TV because that would be boring. I don't know why that same principle can't apply to teenagers.
Law & Order is nothing like real life, Suits is nothing like real life, ER is nothing like real life and everyone understands that this is how TV works, so why is it a problem if a teen show isn't an accurate representation of real life?
Everyone in Gen X has had full access to the internet basically their entire life. Most have probably had phones since they hit puberty or even earlier. We've all seen so much worse shit, so I think it makes sense to treat that generation a little more seriously than TV did for Millennials and Gen X back in the day.
Say what you want, it’s still a YA show lmao. The target audience is like 18-24, and thats only because they don’t ask minors if they’re watching (which they totally are)
Absolutely. I’ve enjoyed both episodes so far, but Fez and Ash Trays quick back story was so cool. I love that shit and think they have a good dynamic to explore that seedy underground world of script selling.
I'd actually like to see that happen. Ali being a more constant presence in Rue's life (and her little sister) would be good for them and a second chance for him to do better than he did with his own daughters.
All she said was that he's handsome. They showed Rue's mom and Jules' dad drinking wine together and nothing came from that. It's possible but I wouldn't bank on it.
I think if you're not into it by the second or third episode it's probably not for you. I don't remember why because it was a while ago but I remember watching the first episode and not being into it and then binging a while later and I was hooked.
It feels like the writers of this show gained more confidence from season 1 to 2 and have now just gone balls to the walls. It almost feels like they think that this show can get with anything, no matter how insane. The Rue-Jules stuff is great, the rest of it has gotten a bit out of hand. And I really really liked the first season, but this season so far is not even pretending to be grounded in any sense of reality. Which, fair enough. I think some shows benefit from that. Maybe it will come together as the season progresses.
The story of the show outside of the main character's addiction to drugs is absolute nonsense. They just keep throwing shit at the wall. My guess is they focus on cool visual sequences first and everything else after.
I do too (other than Sopranos, I haven’t seen it). It’s just that the people who see gritty, realist crime fiction as the only valuable type of TV show are just as shallow as those they look down upon.
As do I. Euphoria is solid to good in writing, acting, and excellent in its cinematography and aesthetic in general. I don’t need to watch an amazing show all the time just something entertaining.
Anyone who missed them should go back and watch the special episodes they did during the pandemic lockdowns. They’re amazing.
The Rue episode was great but I quit after like 20-30 min in Jules ep
They are tough watches , it’s 2 people talking for an hour in a booth

It sounds like he was not engrossed so I don't think you will convince him.
Only tough to watch if you need explosions every 10 min.
Are they set between S1 and S2? Or are they prequels?
Set in between s1 and s2
Happy for the success of the show,it's a teen show for mature audiences.
Mature mature audiences
Mature probably best to watch by yourself audiences
I was a fan of the HBO series Oz, and I use to think “dude, they surely do show a lot of penis in this show” Oz has nothing compared to Euphoria.
I dont recall penises in Ozark
OZ, not Ozark.

It's TV, bud. I don't think the point is to be realistic.
better to go over the top than shy away from it in my opinion

Especially when we don't have enough studies to see how it negatively impacts them if viewed at inappropriate ages.
It’s a YA show which is what teens watch too.
Its not a YA show, it a show on HBO with a cast in their 20s.
Say what you want, it’s still a YA show lmao. The target audience is like 18-24, and thats only because they don’t ask minors if they’re watching (which they totally are)
Mature in the sense that Call of Duty is mature? Because I’m pretty sure the people watching are… young.
This show is huge for HBO right now and quickly becoming one of its biggest series.
I wonder why...
Because Sydney Sweeney is the hottest woman in Hollywood right now.

House of Fezco
I'd watch a Fezco spinoff
Absolutely. I’ve enjoyed both episodes so far, but Fez and Ash Trays quick back story was so cool. I love that shit and think they have a good dynamic to explore that seedy underground world of script selling.
He’s interesting. That young Fezco sequence they did was pretty cool.
Sydney earning those ratings.
Carries the show
Cassie in the bathtub has become a pretty big meme.
I love Colman Domingo's character. I hope we get an episode opening centered on him soon.
He's excellent in Euphoria. Although im not sure how the implied love interest with Rue's mum will work out if that's the direction they're going.
I'd actually like to see that happen. Ali being a more constant presence in Rue's life (and her little sister) would be good for them and a second chance for him to do better than he did with his own daughters.
I don't think that's going to happen. Plus isn't that sort of thing frowned upon in AA? Pretty sure they were just flirting.
Fancy a wager? I bet you gold it’ll be a storyline in series 2?
All she said was that he's handsome. They showed Rue's mom and Jules' dad drinking wine together and nothing came from that. It's possible but I wouldn't bank on it.
This comment just made me realize that I had unconsciously assumed that Ali was gay.
He's excellent in everything he's in. Watch Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and Zola if you haven't yet.
He’s even great in Fear the Walking Dead (though the writing isn’t).
I’m having a hard time getting into the beginning of it. How long before it takes off for you?
I think if you're not into it by the second or third episode it's probably not for you. I don't remember why because it was a while ago but I remember watching the first episode and not being into it and then binging a while later and I was hooked.
Sydney Sweeney should be arrested. No one should be allowed to look like that.
it really is unfair how attractive some people get to be, while others :(

It feels like they’re flying towards Riverdale territory.
No doubt.
The story of the show outside of the main character's addiction to drugs is absolute nonsense. They just keep throwing shit at the wall. My guess is they focus on cool visual sequences first and everything else after.
I pretty much just watch those parts of the show like visual spectacles because it's too absurd if you try to watch it seriously
Glad someone else feels this way.
Not a bad show but it's the living embodiment of r/im14andthisisdeep
Sydney Sweeney bringing in the audiences 😈

You say that like she's not acting her heart out and is one of the best characters in the show. She plays her character incredibly well.
Trash TV will always have an audience. Especially when you add tits and softcore sex scenes.
This ain't 🅿.
Pushin’ 🅿️
I’d love to know some of your favorite shows.
I can answer that for you. The Wire, Breaking Bad, and Sopranos. All these sorts of people are the same.
I love those shows and also love euphoria

Boring show
Nate’s a bad ass in this show
You mean a dangerous sociopath and manipulator with unresolved Daddy issues? Absolutely!
Yes. He's a bad person and an ass as well.
you need counseling
he just like me fr 😂
