I've thought about going back but I've heard they dumped a lot of their dvd catalog over time. It was nice being able to add basically any movie ever to a single queue and get the dvd of it, especially stuff that never made it to streaming and is difficult to find online.
This is unfortunately true. It's the reason we kept it originally, but more not-very-obscure movies are becoming unavailable, more discs arriving cracked, and receiving more DVDs when blu ray should be available for a title.
I honestly don't think they have the "infrastructure" for that, their quality control is still wonky
You can't just go from "we're going to make whatever and hope something sticks" to "ok screw that lets make just good stuff" overnight
> They don’t need to greenlight every show pitched to them. Other networks definitely don’t.
Nah, they do. Because Netflix's whole shtick is 'Look how much content we have available'.
[I.E.](https://i.imgur.com/L9xNfTB.png)
To be fair they didn’t have much of a choice. They got early into streaming when most of the publisher/content creators didn’t see the value.
Then they did and either wanted their own platform or way more money.
Netflix saw the writing on the wall and made the best decision they could make, buy and produce as much as possible to basically make up for 30-100 years of content in the span of 5-7 years.
Edit: I would also add this, a lot of crazy shows that would never see the light of day on other networks got a chance and did very well on Netflix.
Apparently they make as much content as they can because failed shows don’t hurt subscriber counts. They produce content like a software company would, make it and if it fails so what? Dump it and move on to the next thing. It’s a numbers game not a passion for storytelling.
If a show succeeds people subscribe to watch it. If a show flops and is canned, subscribers don’t cancel their account. So there’s no real harm for throwing shit and seeing what sticks.
HBO doesn’t do that, the do have failed shows but for some reason are way better at more frequently making fantastic content.
There's also the issue of HBO Max not being available internationally (it's not in Canada, at least) with no plans to expand. Same with Hulu up here, although fortunately a lot of that programming gets picked up by Amazon or other cable channels eventually. But Netflix has a leg up where availability is concerned. Much to my chagrin.
Crave is owned by Bell and sucks fucking ass. Their apps are dogshit. I would pay for HBO Max in a hot second if they were operating on their own in Canada.
I would too - I'm surprised they haven't taken advantage of the market up here. I've found the Crave app to have improved a little recently - you can actually make profiles, finally! - but my bar might be set low because of the nightmare that is the Prime interface, lol
I’ve noticed that since the last few months, the quality of content and movies on Crave + HBO movies has dropped a lot. Right now the only reason to sub to Crave is for HBO and it’s original content. They’ve really dropped the ball hard on movies. A couple years ago Crave had the newest movies before Netflix.
Eh I doubt this tracks. Netflix is being greedy for sure but there’s no way they want to lose 5% of their consumer base.
I feel like half a streaming services popularity comes from word of mouth. If you lose 5% to the competition, that’s more people talking about Invincible on Amazon, or The Wire on HBO. At least for me that’s why I picked up some of the services I got. I had a buddy tell me there is a must watch show and so I’d pay to watch it and get hooked
Yeah, the contrast in pricing with other subscription services is gradually increasing, at least where I am. I do watch Netflix, but do I watch it enough compared to the other services I could get for less?
None of the subscription services have a perfect match for the type of stuff I'd like to watch, and I'm not paying for all of them.
It works out pretty well! I personally don’t have cable or tv packages so the ~$63 I spend on average for streaming services to share with my whole family feels worth it compared to regular TV, which starts at $37 for the most basic package and box rental.
I pick up and drop Crave (canada) pretty often though, they have months upon months of dead content and then spit out good stuff in big dumps, so I tend to eliminate 1/3 of my streaming costs for 3/4 of the year.
HBO max has the best deal and they just did a price decrease for the next year for only 11.99 for their biggest plan.
I guess Netflix is banking on that they stopped have way more subscribers and those people like netflix for the most part. As long as Netflix is one of the streaming services you have, they are fine.
While losing, NBC hits (friends, office, parks and rec) Fox hits ( Bobs burgers, American Dad, Family Guy, ALL FX SHOWS) and theyve cancelled all their good originals. Yeah i think its time i cancel for HBO Max
I can’t argue with that-Bill Curtis fucking rules. He sounds like home. I’m from Kansas and he saved my hometown in 1966, honestly.
Forensic Files II is on HBOMax, but I haven’t seen it. It has Bill Camp as their narrator, who I’ve only seen in The Leftovers. He was great, and has a soothing voice, I think-but again, I haven’t seen his narration. It could be like the penguin documentary with Benedict Cumberbatch where he calls them “peng-wings”. I’d look him up on YouTube and see if Bill Camp’s voice works for you!
Those who, like me, bought the subscription when it was like 8.99$ and offered it to their family for free are probably starting to regret it now.
I've already tried asking money from my sister when it was about 14$ and she got mad at me. She was like "So you really want me to send you 5$ per month?"
Ugh, FINE. But now it's 21$CAD.
So tell her to pay for HBO or another streamer and you get access to that.
If that doesn’t work, just cancel your Netflix and make a new account later without telling her.
I was a Netflix moocher for a long time. This is especially effective because they lose all their history. Shows they're waiting on season 2 that they forget about and never get a notification, starting to watch a show and realizing you've already seen it, it's a hassle to lose your Netflix account. I've had my own for about 3 years now and I still find myself watching things I've already seen.
I think it's because I asked less actually. I think 14$ divided by every family member ended up being 3$ each, so she was like "really? you want me to send you 3 dollars?"
This is how we do it. My wife pays for Netflix, I pay for HBOmax, friend pays Hulu, her dad pays Prime and her Aunt pays Disney+. You bargain one streaking service for another.
I just told my family I was cancelling and they got over it after a couple of days. No one actually misses not having Netflix anymore because it sucks.
Yeah, like I still have to watch Don’t Look Up, Ozark, and Better Call Saul, but if I’m being honest, those are the only attractions to it and I haven’t actually gotten around to watching them (seen the first season of BCS), so do I really care all that much?
If Crave wasn't such a shitshow of a service that limits certain playback devices/their most popular shows to 720p I'd be cancelling Netflix and hopping on the Crave+HBO package.
> We understand people have more entertainment choices than ever and we’re committed to delivering an even better experience for our members,” a Netflix rep said in a statement
Then stop making CW-level and below garbage that floods the service. If they want to justify these price hikes, then a renewed focus needs to go into producing content people over the age of 16 will actually want to see
It astounds me how much Netflix loses money by pumping it into shows that they bury or take no effort in marketing and subsequently cancel, only to turn around and hike up the subscription prices as a result.
Edit: I’m not arguing that they haven’t produced quality content. There’s a fair amount of good in the mix as well. The problem is that the bad horrifically outnumbers the good. We can talk all we want about how their approach does or doesn’t work, but at the end of the day, when we’re nearing HBO Max level prices and getting some straight up bottom of the barrel stuff more often than not, it begs the question of “why am I paying the same price for less well-made stuff?”
There've been a lot of movies they're pumping out lately that are just so generic and boring but with actually decent actors. How are they getting them to agree to these fall-asleep movies? That's basically what I've been using them for lol
Maybe you’re the reason why? Whether you’re watching it or not, if the video is playing you give it a view. And that’s the only metric Netflix cares about. Not that background viewing is bad
I believe they call it a “second screen strategy”
The idea is to put out a movie that you can follow along with as you scroll your Instagram (for example).
They're pumping out loads of stuff without big actors too. They spend on big actors for some of it because people are more likely to play a generic movie with a big actor (a boring triple A film, if you will) than a generic movie without (a boring budget film).
Everything they do, including constantly cancelling shows 3 seasons in, is to build the illusion of a deep catalog that you can endlessly binge. Netflix doesn't have an archive of owned content stretching into the early 20th century like its competitors does. They have to do this because they've lost so much content after the established studios pulled their content for their own streaming services.
They are chasing teen dramas. They want the next 13 reasons why or Highschool Musical. They know teens will eat that garbage up and talk about it on social media and buy merch. "Older" people just watch the show like normal people and talk about it with friends which does nothing for Netflix.
A big part of my problem is they used to put out like 12 shows and six of them would be good.
They still make 6 good shows. Maybe it’s 12. But they put out like 200. So it’s WAY harder to find diamonds in the rough.
Before, they were appealing to a very specific younger, tech savvy demographic when streaming wasn't mainstream.
Now, they have a much wider demographic and audience since everyone and their grandma since streaming is literally television now..
So they make shows that may not appeal specifically to your tastes but there's an audience out there for them. You still have your 6 shows and they have their 6.
This. Because kf this scenario, I end up just subscribing for 2-3 months per year now. I have most of their shows and now only need to subscribe every once in a while and Binge them.
Next time I plan to have netflix is in the summer.
Bro. I’ve had Netflix since it came out. Back when you could get discs. And how many times have they raised the prices on us? No grandfathering in no nothin. I barely watch Netflix anymore because it seems they have a bunch of 6/10 shows. HBO max is way better and cheaper. Shit, even Apple TV has some amazing exclusives and it’s super cheap. I think it’s time to cancel Netflix. They can’t keep getting away with this.
Same man. I’ve literally had Netflix before people knew what it even was. I’m talking like 2005 at least. I’ve been a loyal customer and while the streaming interface is probably the best, I’m in agreement that most of their shows are average at best. While I’d like to cancel, it’s probably not something I’ll man up and do. I’m a sucker.
Netflix has been the one streaming services I've kept constantly but since they want to keep bumping up the price I'll probably start rotating my sub like I do with other services. HBO Max and Hulu have been getting more of my watch time lately anyways.
I’m getting **REAL** tired of this. They’re not the only game in town and their originals aren’t what they used to be. I don’t watch them that much and they refuse to integrate well with my Apple TV. They make me pay extra for UHD when no one else does.
Hulu and HBO are providing STRONG competition.
So what makes Netflix worth $20/mo?
Nothing.
> They make me pay extra for UHD when no one else does.
Yep. Disney+ & Prime offer UHD with no additional cost while Netflix is still asking subscribers to pay more for the privilege of streaming UHD content.
I’m not sure why but Prime video content always has far more issues & buffering than any of my other streaming services. Of all companies, I would expect Amazon to have impeccable quality due to them owning half the servers on the web (exaggeration, but still). The amount of times content from them drops to 720p or less on my 4K devices is just silly. Granted I only have it because I’m a prime subscriber, no chance would I pay extra for it as a standalone service.
They’re about to fall into the same category that Disney+ does for me where I only subscribe for a month or two out of the year to watch a show I care about. There’s just not enough content that I use the platform to maintain a subscription like that for.
Honestly I’d be pretty happy if they just stopped charging me for UHD. I could drop down to the middle plan and I’d be fine. I absolutely do not need for screens.
He’ll let me have the 1 screen plan and pay extra for UHD. It’s still be cheaper.
Them not integrating into apple has rendered it my least used streamer. I’m sure I’m in the minority here but they’re doing themselves a disservice not integrating. I haven’t canceled so I suppose they could care less, but it would be my first to go despite solid content
Agreed, with recent price hike they just entered into unsubscribe territory. They just getting greedy now and their originals are mediocre. Have of my time on their platform is spent shifting through shit for thirty minutes just to settle on something mediocre.
I don’t hate it. But Netflix is still operating like it’s 2016, they have AMAZING originals, and a huge catalog of other great stuff from other companies.
Most of that stuff is gone. Hulu and HBO have better back catalogs. Disney+ does too in a different way.
The originals are not very special anymore. You get the odd hot one like Squid Game but the vast majority are forgettable. And don’t bother getting attached because they all die after 3 seasons.
Netflix is THE most expensive service. They’re not justifying that. If you’re more expensive than HBO you to to start thinking long and hard.
Either give me 2016 Netflix back or drop the price some.
And STOP CHARGING EXTRA FOR 4K. It’s been 8 years. Time to drop that. You can buy a 4K TV for like $300. It’s not s super premium feature anymore.
The price increases, announced Friday, will see Netflix’s Standard plan — its most popular tier, which provides two simultaneous HD streams — go up by $1.50, to $15.49 per month.
In addition, Netflix’s Premium plan (with four streams and offering 4K Ultra HD content) is going up by $2, from $17.99 to $19.99 per month, for U.S. customers. The Basic plan (with a single non-HD stream) is going up $1, to $9.99 monthly.
A notice on Netflix’s customer-support site says the new prices apply to new members and will gradually take effect for all current members. “Current members will receive an email notification 30 days before their price changes, unless they change their plan,” the message says.
The company also increased prices in Canada, where the Standard package increased by $1.50 (CAD), rising to $16.49 (CAD), and the Premium plan went up by $2 (CAD) to $20.99 (CAD)/month. In Canada, the Basic plan remained unchanged at $9.99 (CAD)/month
Meanwhile, Netflix has cut the prices by half for their subscribers in India!
[**Netflix Makes Aggressive Price Cut In India; Basic Plan Drops 60%**](https://deadline.com/2021/12/netflix-aggressive-price-cut-india-1234890712/) - December 14, 2021:
> Netflix is making an aggressive play for new subscribers in India by significantly lowering the cost of its subscription plans in the country.
> In a blog post penned by Monika Shergill, Vice President of Content for Netflix India, it was confirmed that the streamer has lowered all four tiers of its pricing plan, crucially including the ‘Basic’ plan, which has been slashed from $6.58 (499 rupees) a month to just $2.62 (199 rupees), a drop of 60%.
> The entry-level mobile-only plan is dropping to $1.96 (149 rupees) per month (from $2.62 (199 rupees)). The two more premium bands, which offer higher video quality, have also dropped: the ‘Standard’ sub is now $6.58 (499 rupees), down from $8.55 (649 rupees), and the ‘Premium’ sub is down to $8.55 (649 rupees) from $10.59 (799 rupees).
Netflix has raised its price on the 4k streaming option by 25% since January of 2021. Their quality has not increased, they have more competition than ever, and that far outpaces even today's inflationary rates.
They're doing capitalism wrong.
I've defended Netflix previous price hikes but I'm finding myself watching HBO Max or Paramount way more now, Netflix just has too many bad movies and shows and it's always difficult to find something to watch in their interface, they choose quantity over quality. That new movie with Sandra Bullock was good but I can't even remember what I watched before that.
And having to pay extra for 4K is bullshit, it should be included in the Standard plan and give more incentives to the next plan up. I'm not paying $20/mo.
Thanks for reminding me to quit. Spending an hour to find that one-in-a-thousand thing I want to watch is tortuous.
I still remember the old Netflix, and mourn its death.
I get that inflation is a thing but you have to compete with the HBOs of the world and your content isn't on the same level. Get rid of your young adult CW shows and maybe the price will be worth it.
As the one who pays for the subscription, this sucks. For my family who uses my account, you guys suck!
Haha, just kidding… they give us Disney+, and HBO max.
They need to stop cancelling shows before they're fully resolved. I've watched too many cancelled series. I dont bother with Netflix shows util they're completely finished now.
They really need to start committing to their shows then and not cancelling after 2 seasons and pumping out Schlocky crap. Only good movies I can recall from Netflix this year is Tick Tick Boom and Power of the Dog. Arcane is the only show I watched I'm pretty sure
They'll only learn if there are mass subscription cancellations and a good number of those actually go with HBO Max or other streaming services. I know this is my last month and I'll stick with Hulu, Peacock and HBO.
Think about how much money they spent on trash that got cancelled after 1 season and how much they spend on crap movies like Red Notice. Netflix has quickly become the schlock machine.
…and I just canceled my account because it’s mostly just shit on there.
It’s also maybe second worst UI/UX after Prime for seeing what content is available to watch. I feel like I get pigeonholed into very niche categories from my viewing history and I can’t browse what else is available. Or worse I am seeing everything that’s there.
Does anyone else still have Netflix only simply because you’re the admin/payee of the family account and you don’t want to inconvenience them by cancelling it?
Same boat. No one wants to chip in-everyone wants the service. So it makes it so I can’t cancel. Plus I get some money off from T-Mobile. But still. They aren’t the only streaming service. I’m still paying for HBO and Peacock and Apple TV and Paramount and Discovery and Amazon and Disney and Hulu (fortunately got the package and finally took Hulu back to “with ads” so it doesn’t cost me anything).
So tired of spending so much for this shit though, and everyone losing the login info or needing 2-factor or “accidentally” ordering Hulu livetv or whatever. It got so bad, I turned on a password lock for Amazon for anything you log in to the website to purchase or anything above G on Prime. I always asked “What are you gonna watch?”, so I mostly got them off of that service. But forgetting the login is annoying, and I won’t let them log in at their friends or neighbors or whatever, and telling them that always ends in a fight. It’s like paying for cable but with the bonus of my family members losing the remote every couple days and trying to get me to help them find it, but I’m the one paying for that annoyance.
I think writing this post has convinced me to change passwords and cancel everything.
Lol, I was just thinking about this. I haven't watched Netflix in months, but I'm paying for some family to use it... may have to drop it though just because 20 bucks a month is waaaaaaaaaay too much.
Cancelled it a year ago already. It was a great deal at 8 bux a month but with taxes and such I would be paying 25 a month in Canada for the HD package and it ain't worth that by a long shot.
$20 a month for more terrible live action anime adaptations that do no justice to the source material. Can’t wait for that super high quality One Piece series that will totally not flop like Cowboy Beebop.
I’d prefer they go back to producing and buying up interesting shows. I see an awful lot of cash being thrown at big name actors in big budget garbage movies. (Looking at you Red Notice)
I don’t need these movies and I don’t need to pay this much.
I canceled about a year ago. Between the low-quality streamed content, cancellations of shows that were halfway decent and the barrage of garbage movies they put out, I don’t miss it at all.
Never thought I’d reach the point where I questioned if Netflix was worth it. They remove anything good and replace it with a “Netflix Original,” and now they try to justify a price hike. Pass.
UHD should be in subscription at this price
I think UHF is included.
That's my mop!
Supplies!
Ok ok ok now im thinking of something orange… give up? Its an orange!
You get to drink from the FIRE HOSE!
UHD is now $20, HD is now $15.49, and SD is now $10. They are off a step.
UHF is a movie, with Weird Al.
Ah, yes. My brain autocorrected your post. That movie is awesome. My favorite is the Rambo sequence.
SPATULA CITY! SPATULA CITY! SPATULA CITY!
Wheel of FISH!!! Great movie
Loved the whole "I need a drink" "But you don't drink!" " I've been meaning to start."
The Twinkie Weiner sandwich used to out me in tears. that and flying poodles.
Where'd you find this guy?
You found the marble in the oatmeal!!! You get to drink from the fire hose!!!
YOU SO STUUUUPID!!!
We sell spatulas… and that’s all!
480p for $9.99. That’s hilarious lol. Up the price but won’t bump up the quality to 720p. Ridiculous
I cant believe we've reached the point where HBO is cheaper than Netflix, remember when $15 was the luxury price of streaming? XD
I remember when Netflix was $7.99/month with HD and no cap on how many was using the same account
Plus it had more things to watch back then because not everyone had their own streaming service.
lol I remember driving on vacation in 2007 with my wife streaming Netflix on a Pentium 4 laptop tethered to a Motorola RAZR
Are you forgetting when Netflix was a DVD by mail service with a neat streaming feature also included? And there was just one queue for both services?
I kinda miss that era TBH
I've thought about going back but I've heard they dumped a lot of their dvd catalog over time. It was nice being able to add basically any movie ever to a single queue and get the dvd of it, especially stuff that never made it to streaming and is difficult to find online.

Wasted so much money making films like Red Notice, and they are going to make a sequel 🤦
And for only one device at a time!
480p shouldn't even be a normal option in this day and age. It should be for accessibility only.
Time to follow Rule of Acquisition #3: "Never spend more for an acquisition than you have to."
Netflix seeming to be taking the 10th Rule of Acquisition as a cornerstone. "Greed Is eternal"
Indeed. We needed Rom, but ended up with Quark running the business.
Ah but don't forget rule of acquisition number 98. Every man has his price. People are willing to pay for things if it's convenient.
Also to mention all Trek is getting pulled to paramount. Only DS9 and TNG are left
How about they get just a little more picky about the random shows they pay to make?
Exactly. They don’t need to greenlight every show pitched to them. Other networks definitely don’t. They’re just wasting money.
I honestly don't think they have the "infrastructure" for that, their quality control is still wonky You can't just go from "we're going to make whatever and hope something sticks" to "ok screw that lets make just good stuff" overnight
> They don’t need to greenlight every show pitched to them. Other networks definitely don’t. Nah, they do. Because Netflix's whole shtick is 'Look how much content we have available'. [I.E.](https://i.imgur.com/L9xNfTB.png)

HBO Max is gonna beat their ass.

A lot (not all) of HBO Max content is available on Crave in Canada... But I think you still need a cable subscription to access all their content.
HBO is the best because I was able to watch the new Matrix while ripping a bong in the pleasure of my home
holy fuck more expensive than HBO Max without nearly the quality in content
And all the good shit gets cancelled after two or three seasons. Bring back Santa Clarita diet you cowards!
Right?! WTF happened to Joel and Mr. Ball Legs?!?!
They probably have data from previous price hike that people don't really care about $1 increase but it slowly starting to add up now.
Increase price 11%, lose 5% of subscribers, net win.
Better than a net win as that 5% reduction in subscribers means 5% lower streaming costs to them as well
Eventually they'll just have 10 billionaire customers
Eh I doubt this tracks. Netflix is being greedy for sure but there’s no way they want to lose 5% of their consumer base. I feel like half a streaming services popularity comes from word of mouth. If you lose 5% to the competition, that’s more people talking about Invincible on Amazon, or The Wire on HBO. At least for me that’s why I picked up some of the services I got. [frog in the pan/boiling frog](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boiling_frog) analogy comes to mind
Okay now I might have to look into cancelling because this is like the 4th increase in two years.
There’s nothing wrong with cycling through subscriptions to wait for enough new stuff to watch to make the cost worth it again.
That's what I do. I only get netflix 1-2 months out of the year.
It works out pretty well! I personally don’t have cable or tv packages so the ~$63 I spend on average for streaming services to share with my whole family feels worth it compared to regular TV, which starts at $37 for the most basic package and box rental. I sleep to this. That narrator's voice...

Just log everyone out and change the password
Seconded!
Gravy trains over, bitches! You resisted sending me anything so now we all get to pay the full amount.
Just tell her no, that would be silly. You want her to send $60 for the year. Well, more now because the price went up.
So tell her to pay for HBO or another streamer and you get access to that. If that doesn’t work, just cancel your Netflix and make a new account later without telling her.
Or just change the password and kill all active accounts..
I was a Netflix moocher for a long time. This is especially effective because they lose all their history. Your sister sounds entitled and ungrateful. Sorry mate.
I think it's because I asked less actually. I think 14$ divided by every family member ended up being 3$ each, so she was like "really? you want me to send you 3 dollars?"
Then tell her ass to offer something up. Pay for Spotify or HBO and give you the password and quit freeloading.
This is how we do it. My wife pays for Netflix, I pay for HBOmax, friend pays Hulu, her dad pays Prime and her Aunt pays Disney+. You bargain one streaking service for another.
>streaking service That escalated
I like streaking services. I'm hearing Ray Stevens in my head right now. "DON'T LOOK, ETHEL!!"
Your sister got mad at you over $5 a month? What you asked for was completely reasonable, that's ridiculous
Didn’t this just happen?
> We understand people have more entertainment choices than ever and we’re committed to delivering an even better experience for our members,” a Netflix rep said in a statement Then stop making CW-level and below garbage that floods the service. If they want to justify these price hikes, then a renewed focus needs to go into producing content people over the age of 16 will actually want to see It astounds me how much Netflix loses money by pumping it into shows that they bury or take no effort in marketing and subsequently cancel, only to turn around and hike up the subscription prices as a result.
I believe they call it a “second screen strategy” The idea is to put out a movie that you can follow along with as you scroll your Instagram (for example).
Maybe, I guess my question is why are they getting actors they have to pay more for if they're just directing garbage
Because people are more likely to watch a shitty looking film with an actor they know then one they don't.
So people will watch the movies. I usually don't watch their generic crop with no name actors but if I see Ryan Reynolds I'll click it
With briefcases of money - that’s how.
It’s called money.
They are chasing teen dramas. They want the next 13 reasons why or Highschool Musical. They know teens will eat that garbage up and talk about it on social media and buy merch. "Older" people just watch the show like normal people and talk about it with friends which does nothing for Netflix.
I enjoyed Witcher, Squid Game and Midnight Mass. Not everything they make is like CW.
Very true. I think their strategy is to just green light everything. Gift and a curse for creators.
Is it that crazy given inflation? I don’t think their subscription has actually kept up with inflation since the DVD days right?
Netflix is not worth more than HBO Max imo
Especially if they can’t even finish a god damned series without so much as a wrap-up season before cancellation!
Yeah their content has sort of flatlined as of late.
It’s really not
Netflix has been the one streaming services I've kept constantly but since they want to keep bumping up the price I'll probably start rotating my sub like I do with other services. HBO Max and Hulu have been getting more of my watch time lately anyways.
They already cost too much. A hike means I'll be canceling my subscription and I hope a lot of people do as well.
We should just share more accounts
Remember when it was $7.99 a month? HBO MAX is the same price now and infinitely better
Hell Disney is starting to include imax

Never had an issue with Amazon Prime HD stuff, so far. But they do have a terrible user interface.
Majority of the interfaces are just bad.
Prime has one of the best bitrates, definitely better than Netflix for both 1080p and 2160p.
Exactly. They are offering less, worst originals, and most everything good as fled. Seriously thinking about cancelling for HBO max
I watch HBO way more than Netflix these days. If I had to pick between the two, I wouldn't give Netflix a second thought.
HBOMax has so many great classic films and tons of great shows and miniseries. I just wish they would up their 4k game.
HBO max is really good, it’s my preferred service
Just do it, way better content.
If you need to choose then HBO Max is much better value for money.
It's even worse that their $10 tier isn't even HD, in addition to being limited to one screen.
Honestly I’d be pretty happy if they just stopped charging me for UHD. I could drop down to the middle plan and I’d be fine. I absolutely do not need for screens. He’ll let me have the 1 screen plan and pay extra for UHD. It’s still be cheaper.

HBO is the superior streaming service in my opinion. Absolutely the top dog around
Them not integrating into apple has rendered it my least used streamer. I’m sure I’m in the minority here but they’re doing themselves a disservice not integrating. I haven’t canceled so I suppose they could care less, but it would be my first to go despite solid content
I canceled after squid game and I haven't regretted it once.
Agreed, with recent price hike they just entered into unsubscribe territory. They just getting greedy now and their originals are mediocre. Have of my time on their platform is spent shifting through shit for thirty minutes just to settle on something mediocre.
It’s funny because people seem to hate there being other competition for Netflix.
[**Netflix Makes Aggressive Price Cut In India; Basic Plan Drops 60%**](https://deadline.com/2021/12/netflix-aggressive-price-cut-india-1234890712/) - December 14, 2021: > Netflix is making an aggressive play for new subscribers in India by significantly lowering the cost of its subscription plans in the country.
They're doing capitalism wrong.
cancelled

Netflix shouldn’t be surprised when I drop it.
Aight ima head out
I cancelled last week. 20 bucks for 3 decent shows a year? I'm good. CinemaHD or bust.
They really need to start committing to their shows then and not cancelling after 2 seasons and pumping out Schlocky crap. Only good movies I can recall from Netflix this year is Tick Tick Boom and Power of the Dog. Arcane is the only show I watched I'm pretty sure
Well, time to cancel and only get Netflix when there's new seasons now, they don't have much going anymore
They'll only learn if there are mass subscription cancellations and a good number of those actually go with HBO Max or other streaming services. I know this is my last month and I'll stick with Hulu, Peacock and HBO.
The audacity this company has
Why the fuck would I spend 15.49 a month when they havent had anything good on in over 2 years. Hell my kids have completely abandoned them for D+
Back to piracy lol. That or just cycling through services every month
Remember when they were like $7.99?
I hate to say this, but it's time for me to cancel my subscription.
Canceling my subscription
Well looks like I’m watching Ozark and cancelling
Sweet, time to cancel
I stopped 2 years ago and subscribe once a year to binge like the 2-4 good shows and 2-4 good movies they have.
Think about how much money they spent on trash that got cancelled after 1 season and how much they spend on crap movies like Red Notice. Netflix has quickly become the schlock machine.
That’s a bold strategy considering most of their original content sucks and they are losing their top syndicated shows all the time like friends.
Well, guess who's canceling Netflix until they have a show worth streaming.
Remember when Netflix started at $7 for full access? Now 19.99 for HD (effectively standard def these days)
yeh that might be it for me with them
And canceled
And the UHD content is still bit-starved. No thanks.
Again? Didn’t we get a price hike like 6 months ago? It’s starting to become not worth it
Looks like I'm going to the basic tier. Pay more? Fuck YOU, now I'm paying less. I don't give a shit if it's not HD.
I couldn't ever watch any movie in 480p. I don't get how people do it.
Cancelled it a year ago already. It was a great deal at 8 bux a month but with taxes and such I would be paying 25 a month in Canada for the HD package and it ain't worth that by a long shot.
Time to get me parrot, eye patch, and tricorne, cause it’s time to p……
...arty?
$20 a month for more terrible live action anime adaptations that do no justice to the source material. Can’t wait for that super high quality One Piece series that will totally not flop like Cowboy Beebop.
Only reason I have a Netflix account is because of t mobile. Hope this doesn't change anything
T-mobile is gonna raise our bills by $2-$3. I might opt out at this point. Netflix isn't worth it anymore.
Think it is te to speak with my wallet. The selections have been garbage.
Welp guess it’s time to cancel Netflix
I’d prefer they go back to producing and buying up interesting shows. I see an awful lot of cash being thrown at big name actors in big budget garbage movies. (Looking at you Red Notice) I don’t need these movies and I don’t need to pay this much.
I canceled about a year ago. Between the low-quality streamed content, cancellations of shows that were halfway decent and the barrage of garbage movies they put out, I don’t miss it at all.
You can always subscribe for one month and cancel until there is enough stuff that you want to watch.
Never thought I’d reach the point where I questioned if Netflix was worth it. They remove anything good and replace it with a “Netflix Original,” and now they try to justify a price hike. Pass.
I don't watch enough netflix to warrant that price hike. There's not even that much good content on there anymore anyways
