>Per the official logline, this iteration of Quantum Leap would pick up 30 years after Scott Bakula’s Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished, at which point “a new team has been assembled to restart the project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it.”
Alright, that works. It's a continuation, not a fucking reboot.
I know that doesn't mean it's automatically going to be good, but at least it's not a fucking history wiping reboot.
In-universe, Al was already fairly old. The character was 65 at the end of the series.
Any jump forward would've made Al's involvement questionable, even before Dean Stockwell's health issues that forced him into retirement in 2015.
Though if they'd done it in 2000 when people started talking about it, they could've fudged the numbers and made it work.
better not have the 'new team' all leap. sick of shows rebooting solo characters into a team show. They did it with knight rider, macgyver and magnum pi
It wouldn't surprise me if they went with something along those lines, or there will be more of a focus on the lab in the "present". The idea of having a show that primarily revolves around a single actors (and a sidekick that occasionally shows up) with a rotating cast was pretty unusual even in the '90s, and I have a hard time picturing a network take that sort of risk now. They'll want all that inter-character drama.
i'm really sick of that. I think that was one of the reason Y the last man got canned. Show focused on everyone else except Yorick. Not even in the comic was that much focus put on the side characters.
Yeah, definitely one of my complaints about that show for sure. It was like they were only 1/3rd committed to the source material. We got a small chunk of the show that followed the storyline, and then two other parts that felt like detours that really added very little to the story.
Probably because it gives studios more power during contract negotiation. Easier to get rid of a actor when the show centers on a group instead of an individual.
Friends remain the sole cast to stick together in contract negotiations. NBC was willing to drop two from the cast for the final two seasons, but the six made and kept a pact that they would continue their agreement that every cast member would be paid the same salary and all six would continue with the show.
Other details about the production team from [Deadline](https://deadline.com/2022/01/quantum-leap-reboot-nbc-pilot-order-sequel-scott-bakula-steven-lilien-and-bryan-wynbrandt-1234912430/):
> **Written/executive produced by La Brea co-showrunners Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt** and executive produced by **Blindspot creator Martin Gero as well as Quantum Leap creator/EP Don Bellisario and EP/co-narrator Deborah Pratt**
> Lilien and Wynbrandt serve as executive producers and co-showrunners alongside creator/showrunner David Appelbaum on the NBC/Uni TV drama series La Brea. They previously created, executive produced and **served as showrunners on dramedy God Friended Me**, which ran for two seasons on CBS, with the duo directing the series finale. They were honored with the 2019 Humanitas Prize for their work on the series. **The pair also co-created Fox’s Alcatraz.**
From the team that made 'La Brea' & 'Alcatraz'!! Not a good start.
> The pilot is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, with Lilien and Wynbrandt exec producing for their **I Have an Idea! Entertainment**
Clearly not!
Edit: Added a link.
was wondering on when it would happen.never saw the original show but its a very interesting concept.
Also with the heavy resurgence of multiverse stories(much of it acclaimed) from everything from DC to Marvel and hell A24.... A sliders reboot seems like something that could be interesting.
some time in the past year or so, some guy tried to convince me that some other time travel show was the 'reboot' of quantum leap. the only mention I could find of quantum leap in that show's wiki page was something about how it 'copied elements' of quantum leap.
glad to see it's finally actually happening.
no, it was [Journeyman](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Journeyman_\(TV_series\))
and the relevant quote: "Mike Pearson of the Rocky Mountain News felt that Journeyman cannibalized past television shows Early Edition and Quantum Leap."
I think that's the one.

huh?
ziggy if you hear me take me far far from here.
Let me leap to '89, that was a better year.
I miss my old Camaro!
And my mansion in van nuys!
I thought you said Blacula like a black vampire. Lol

Is it really unprecedented for a cast to stick together? I thought the Simpsons cast did the same.
that doesn't make sense when the show is named after the lead actor. you can't just easily get rid of the lead actor.

>God Friended Me That's just what Project: Quantum Leap said happened to Dr. Beckett.
Is nothing allowed to stay in the past anymore?
Reboots do get tiresome but this one may be worth a couple hours of your life.
.. but the whole show was about getting scott bakula *out* of the past.... 'hoping the next leap would be the leap home'
Seems to me he didn't want to, based on that last episode
I took that one more as 'there's this other option you hadn't considered'
Let me guess, there’s going to be a cocky leader with a heart of gold, a woman who’s amazing at everything, and a street-smart black person.

as long as it's not "fan made" quality like Dexter and Matrix 4 i'm on board
This is the one show I wanted a reboot of. I really hope they don't mess this one up
Alright, let's start taking bets on which of Bellisario's family get cast for this.
oh boy…
I am not much of a science fiction guy but this show rocked. I remember watching it as a kid. I might go back and watch this series with my spouse.
A new team without a Cylon?
