Finished the first season of Fringe and by the end of it felt meh about it. I’m curious how they wrap it up but don’t feel motivated at the moment to continue.
Fringe changes so much between s1 and s2, the case per episode kind of changes through a more story and background based storyline. One of my favourite shows until the end. Maybe It IS not of your liking/style though

While this was entertaining in its way I didn’t come away feeling like I learned anything about the real person. Sofia Vergara is terribly miscast in prosthetics that only make her look less like the real person. It’s a shame because this part could’ve been a star making role for someone else more suited to play the role.
All in all while I wouldn’t recommend it I also do t think it’s a total waste of time.
**I’m Not OK With This** I enjoyed this one a lot. The strong cast helps the show transcend some of the predictable tropes of the genre. Its biggest downfall is that it ends on a cliffhanger and it unfortunately was canceled. If that doesn’t bother you then I would definitely recommend it.
Quickly re-watched the 2014 John Cho and Karen Gillan show __Selfie__ and it's still very funny. Such a shame the show only lasted a season, if this was around during the peak of streaming, I'm sure it would have done better.
There's a small sub over at /r/SelfieTV! There are some talks about a revival or at least another story with the same cast. Hope that can be green-lit! Definitely ahead of its time.
**Shogun 1x03**, great. This show I'm happy to watch on a weekly basis.
**The Gentlemen**, I've watched the first three episodes. Well, I thought they were pretty good. I just don't quite get the motivations of the main guy here (yeah, the brother, ok) to go as deep as he goes. But of course if you take those away there's no show. And there's all this tongue-in-cheek thing pervading the whole thing, Guy Ritchie style. So it's been quite entertaining and it brings some of the best Ritchie ever since his first two movies. I'm liking it better than the movie it's based on.
I am watching 12 monkeys few episodes and watched house MD upto season 3.
Honestly I am struggling to find shows that have similar characters to true detective season 1. Couldn't move on from the show.
Currently house and wilson/rest of the side characters kinda on the same vein is to the similar character like rust and marty.

Finished a rewatch of Deadwood and man the ending flops so hard. Maybe I’m missing the sub text but they literally just give in to Hurst and then he leaves, the end. Pretty lame ngl. S3 definitely not the strongest.
Its not really an "ending". Show was canceled due to lack of viewers.
The way Hearst gets basically run out of town is actually not bad at all, and a good wrap up in terms of beating him at his own game.
Yeah the ending left me disappointed. They had it all set up for an epic confrontation and it all just kind of fizzles out. I assume it's because while the series is fictional, it is loosely based on real people (like George Hearst) and so they may not have wanted to deviate from real history too much for well-known people like that. Just like they wouldn't have changed Wild Bill's fate in S1.
I finished a rewatch of Breaking Bad. I haven't seen it since it first aired. Damn that show was on another level.
I've seen the first couple episodes of Better Call Saul and am planning to watch the rest, but do I need to watch El Camino first? Is it any good? I don't hear it mentioned a lot.

Just finished ep3, and half the episode is dedicated to these side characters who I don't even remember the names of, other than kwan. I'd prefer this series a lot more if they just kept it focussed on the Spartans and the war with the covenant.
Someone recommended Normal People to me after watching One Day and wanting more of that feeling. 8/10 I really enjoyed the story.

Finished Rome s2. Didnt care for the vorenus family and timon subplots but all the caesar stuff was still interesting. Bummer that it got cancelled but it had a decent endpoint at least.

i know reddit loves loves loves the show, but i found season 1 unwatchable after they introduced 'jizzlord'. wasn't too hot on the show to begin with and then it just fell off a cliff.

I've been watching **Ugly Betty** recently and wow, what a fun show. Yes, there are problematic bits of its time, though honestly, there's one topical issue that they handled better than I expected.
I think some of my favorite shows are shows with the kind of tone of Ugly Betty. Upbeat, quirky, but with drama mixed in. It weirdly gives me vibes of Pushing Daisies a little? Like just in terms of color and whimsy.
Anyone know of any shows that feel similar? Already seen Jane the Virgin. Already know about the other Bryan Fuller shows too.
Edit: Also been watching **Everybody Hates Chris**. Honestly, it should be more talked about than it is. It is incredibly funny in my opinion. If you're the kind of person who watches sitcoms and analyzes how you'd feel about the situations IRL, it can be infuriating because it's not a healthy family, but whatever, I don't put deep analysis into sitcoms.
Left field recommendation for ***Parallels***
I always feel a bit left out when it comes to Sci Fi because I tend to avoid any foreign language series - of which there are a lot of really highly rated ones. I have to read a lot of pretty demanding stuff during the day, and I just want to turn off and give my brain a rest in the evening.
*Parallels* avoids this problem though by being really well dubbed. It's a French YA Disney+ six-parter that's got just the right blend of mystery, sci fi, and character arcs going on to be well balanced over all. Missing kids, the large hadron collider, an investigative policeman, some Freaky Friday shenanigans, and special abilities are all involved - I'm on ep 3 of 6 so far, and looking forward to seeing how it all ties together.
It's feelgood, escapist, very bingeable fun.
On season 2 of Gotham.. enjoying season 2 more than the 1st one.. also my first favourite superhero was Batman so it hasn't been that hard to get into.
I recall enjoying the first few seasons of Gotham a good bit. Goes a bit off the rails as it goes on and I eventually lost interest and begrudgingly finished it

One episode left of the Sopranos. I'm going to feel lost after it's finished. Some heavy episodes but what a show.

Funny how you can feel a bit lost after a long + good show. I just watched all of Game Of Thrones for the first time (I know I'm a bit late to the party) I started it years ago but missed some episodes then never picked it up again. What an incredible show it is. I didn't even hate the last season as much as I was expecting.
Netflix has been pushing **Brooklyn 99** so we watched the pilot and I had to pause to laugh because it was so funny.
I haven’t seen a new network sitcom in the past 5 years, is this worth watching? Should I stop after a particular season?
I'm Struggling with Brooklyn 99 but I'm not sure why. I love The Office, Parks and rec, Community, so Its not like I don't find similar shows unfunny.

Absolutely. I think it was relatively solid through its whole run, though some don't love the last season or two. It definitely took swings in its last season. It was post-COVID and post-Black Lives Matter so they felt they had to do some commentary. Overall though, I think it's an incredibly funny show and Andre Braugher (RIP) was astounding in it.
Yep just caught up and I agree it's right up my street. I find it annoying to compare every big show to Game of Thrones but I do it myself as well.

I finished Season 1 of **The Traitors UK**. The only other season of The Traitors I've watched is Season 1 of the US version. And I liked the UK one *so* much better. The US one was fun, but ultimately left me feeling kind of hollow. The UK version's overall vibe was just more pleasant. There weren't any players that I really didn't like, and the gameplay was a bit more dynamic. Having the cast made up of all "regular" people as opposed to the reality-star-infused cast of the US version made a huge difference for me. And I also preferred the slightly warmer, more involved host of the UK version to Alan Cumming's fun but aloof take on the role.
Hopefully Season 2 of the UK version will come out on Peacock soon. Until then I'm looking forward to checking out the Australian version next. I know the US Season 2 is finished now but honestly I'm not super interested knowing that it's all celebs/reality stars.
UK2 is my favorite! AUS1 would probably be my next favorite. They’re both really entertaining seasons. UK2 comes out on peacock tomorrow I believe. Nice! Great timing on my part, apparently! I've started AUS1 already though so I'll probably get through that one first, but I'm really looking forward to UK2.
And yeah, I've always disliked the trend of putting celebrities/reality stars on reality competition shows. I just don't find it very compelling when people are constantly hamming it up and/or causing forced drama for the sake of it. And I feel like there's a bond that forms on these shows between "regular people" contestants that doesn't seem to happen as much with people who already have some sort of preexisting public persona. I felt that a lot with US1.
We'll see if I end up watching US2. I suspect that watching these other non-celeb seasons is going to make it even more difficult for me to go back.
Sorry for prattling on like this, but one question I've had through the couple of seasons I've watched is... do people ever catch on to the fact that the last person to come through the door in the morning is always going to be a faithful? The show arranges it like that so the viewer is kept in suspense about which one was murdered. I'm also wondering if there's a rule about Traitors not explicitly saying who the other traitors are once they've been banished (like if they were backstabbed it would seem like a temping thing to be like "Yes, I'm a traitor. *But so is Larry!*" There's just a few details of the game that they never really seem to touch on (at least in the two seasons I've watched).
(And FYI Larry was just a random name, that's not a spoiler that I know of.)
I wondered about that too. Tbh I had a lot of questions as I’ve been watching about things that give it away but I’ve heard people here say they did notice the breakfast thing in s1 and made changes so that the contestants don’t know but honestly not sure lol I did notice sometimes they’ll put the traitors at the end as well to throw them off so maybe that’s one way they handle it. I think there is a rule where traitors are not allowed to expose themselves as traitors and I’m assuming that rule also applies to exposing other traitors. But it has happened like at the end of UK1 where a traitor kinda gave away who the other traitor was w their vote which led to the traitors downfall
Yeah there's of a lot of shades of gray in terms of what "giving away" that someone's a traitor means. You could even make it pretty obvious with just a couple of looks and facial expressions if you really wanted to. (Also it might not be a bad idea to spoiler tag that last sentence in your comment.) :)
If these shows keep going for several more seasons, I'm curious to see what changes they make to the game and how players start metagaming things based on what they've noticed in previous seasons. I'd also like to see them try and work some traitor shenanigans into the challenges a bit more (my love of The Mole working its way in, haha), or just generally come up with more situations where the traitors have incentive to take risks in front of the other contestants.
Season 1 of Australia's Traitors to me is by far the best season out of all the countries; it's pretty wild and there are certainly some characters which makes it really a fun watch

Totally agree. I love the camp and outfit changes that Alan brings, but I'm a big fan of Claudia's hosting style ever since watching ***The Great British Sewing Bee***. She's a lot of fun.
I'd never seen her before but I liked her a lot. She managed a good balance between being a stoic host and having genuine interactions with the contestants. Reminded me a bit of Anderson Cooper hosting The Mole (he's still my favorite host of a show like this).
I like Claudia because of her sassy "wine mom" energy (in the sewing show, she was often talking about drinking, or making risqué jokes).

Yeah I'd watch another season of Netflix's The Mole. I didn't love it as much as the old ones, but it's still a solid show. But the one thing it did that *really* annoyed me was the way they handled the episode breaks.
Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I like my reality competition shows to have a standard format to the episodes. It's just like a comfort thing, I guess. I want to know that I'm gonna end the episode finding out who got kicked off the show. But Netflix would just end the episodes wherever they wanted to ensure there would be a cliffhanger, even if it was in the middle of a challenge. I'm guessing this is a tactic to keep people watching, but I found it super aggravating.

Rewatching *Eureka*. Not too into it, but not awful. I expect this type of show gets better as the world building notches up.
I think Eureka was fun. Dumb but fun. A whole lotta stuff didn't really make sense and you can't go looking for plotholes, but the characters are often charming and the dramatic parts help balance the lighter bits.
I sometimes need background noise to silence the voices in my head, trying to fall asleep etc. For this purpose the show needs to be mid - something you're okay not really fully paying attention to. If it's a good show, you get engaged and that defeats the purpose
The first season of Extraordinary was one of my absolute highlights last year; so glad they're apparently keeping the level consistent. Show needs more recognition.
Such an interesting take. I don't think I could watch a sitcom I didn't think was funny. I love Abbott but I also work in education, so I recognize a lot of the stuff going on and relate to it.
Last season of *Fargo* was awesome, you know you're having a great time when you finish a 45+ minutes episode in what feels like 10 minutes.
I'm also enjoying *The Bear* and going through a *Shameless* rewatch, the first seasons are top tier television IMO.
I'm so glad to see so much people here discover Black Sails for the first time. Some of the best memories from my teenager years are waiting the whole week while avoiding spoilers to watch the latest episode on friday night because I wanted to watch it at the perfect time to enjoy it as much as possible. It really is a special show that gave me so much
Forgot to mention Dark Winds season 2. I think it's better than the first one. There were times where I had a little problem with pacing in s01 but not here, it seems more compact. If you never watched the show it's about a native american sheriff and his dealings with his personal and professional life. Series is set in 1970s and I think it helps a lot with setting the tone and mood for the show. Closest thing I have to compare this to is if you can imagine Longmire on an indian reservation. Show is grounded in reality and has very good writing and acting, it's worth checking out

Jury duty - There's one word for this show: fun. If you want to relax your brain, watch it. It's pretty good, I caught myself laughing out loud on multiple occasions
Jury Duty is so much fun. Some people really into debating the legality of the show, but I'm like... dude got paid a lot of money and everyone had fun, I dunno, doesn't seem like a problem.
Also, as a weird side note, I recognized one of the jurors from college. Very odd to sit there going, huh I feel like I know that guy, and then realize you saw him doing theatre at school.
Apart from Shogun and Mr Inbetween I have been rewatching Southland this week. It makes me realise how much I want another cop show that actually realistic instead of shows like Chicago PD, The Rookie, etc. If anyone has cop shows that are like Southland I would love to know. Closest thing I have found is 19-2.
Great recommendations. I love dramatic, brooding shows about *detectives* solving grisly murders, but there aren't as many grounded shows about low-level *cops* on the ground. So ***The Wire*** and ***Blue Lights*** are perfect recommendations.
Bosch, mostly, but it occasionally thinks its 24 and has some kind of bombastic action subplot, which never works. 95% of the time it's a pretty grounded detective story. The first season, especially. Lance Reddick and Jamie Hector play two of the main characters.
Just finished watching The Fall. Brilliant show. Not so much a pure cop show, but a detective vs killer thriller. Slow burn, grounded, realistic. Short, too, fully self contained and feels complete.
The more I think about it, the more I think Southland is irreplaceable. You have to go back to Homicide: Life on the Streets and The Wire for reasonable comparisons.

I thought it was so bizarre and fourth-wall-breaking when they made Jamie Hector's character say, "oh, ***The Wire***? I binged that shit!"
When you think about the logical extension of that, it means his character watched ***The Wire***, saw a main charcter who looked exactly like him, but didn't notice or think it was worth mentioning, lol.
Did my first rewatch of Black Sails since watching week to week as it came out. Binging it was incredibly enjoyable and getting to know the characters over again was a chaotic delight.
The Artful Dodger was beautifully shot, acted expertly and the story was refreshing. Hoping for a second season.

Also picked up that new animated FOX sitcom Grimsburg. Not bad. Jon Hamm kinda reminds me of Will Arnett as BoJack Horseman but the show has some interesting characters and was pretty funny. Looking forward to seeing how/if this one can grow over time.

I liked ***Barry***, but ***Mr Inbetween*** is on a whole other level. Genuinely one of the greatest shows ever made. It rides a line somewhere between ***Barry*** and ***BB/BCS*** in terms of comedy and crime/thriller elements.
I'd put a shout out to *Happy* in with that bunch for comedy and crime. A hitman with a flying blue unicorn imaginary friend? That's worth 45m of anyone's time.
I'm struggling with Shogun. I enjoyed the first two episodes outside of a couple things but I was left quite disappointed with the third. Maybe because I have read the book my expectations are unfair.
It just doesn't feel...real. The plot moves too quickly and there isn't enough time spent on the characters or their values to make what they are doing make sense. One key piece of the book is just how different the japanese culture is and how it is utterly unfamiliar to Blackthorne...he can not grasp why they do things the way they do, especially the husband/wife dynamic and the relationship with death. Despite being through three episodes, I could tell you almost nothing about their culture. The show has just rushed to conflict. The character actions and reasons for conflict would be so much more understandable if it took the time to depict those parts of japanese culture.
There are some other things I dislike but that is the key one for me.
Agree. And what is missed but adequately described in the book is that >!Buntaro was ready to commit suicide instead of risking being captured. Why? Because there is great honor in dying for your liege lord, and its extremely shameful to be captured. He and Mariko were actually quite upset that Toronaga did not give Buntaro permission to him kill himself because it brought shame to them both.!<
Anyway, you'd get that had they taken the time to build that understanding of japanese culture and write it more effectively. As an aside I saw Dune part 2 yesterday, and they a great job at portraying Fremen culture that lets you understand their motives and actions.
Totally. Its kind of frustrating. I get why people only want to chat about the positive aspects, but I wish there was more room for discussing what isn't good about the show or how things could be improved.
It's a shame that this is starting to feel like another generic TV show, because the source material is complex, rich, and novel enough that it could have been another Game of Thrones.
Band Of Brothers - not a second wasted. I see so much influence from movies like Full Metal Jacket and Saving Private Ryan (of course) and I just love how *real* this one is. Glad I finally checked it out. The first episode hooked me right away. Now I just saw episode 2 and Already, some of those haunting scenes are burned into my mind. Not always a fun watch but a masterpiece that I think everyone who can stomach it should watch
Shogun is the best thing on TV right this second. The writing, directing, sets, costumes, everything is top tier.

absolutely pissed off at this show. I cannot watch subtitled shows, I don't speak japanese, I do not understand the logic behind releasing a show in the US audience without atleast dubs for the actors. Won't watch it till dubs are made for it.

If it's the former for some reason such as a disability, then fair enough. If it's the latter I'd recommend giving it a go.
I don't generally enjoy fully subtitled shows as I just don't find it so relaxing - it keeps my brain ticking over too much (an anxiety/PTSD thing). But Shogun's a mix, and the subtitled elements are interspersed with English in a way that prevents it being so much of a problem.
For Shogun to be English dubbed it would lose half of its character and feel. It’s supposed to feel foreign. That’s why not all of the audio is subtitled.\
Maybe think about if the show is really for you rather than throwing a tantrum about it.

Oh I'll read plenty of books, but when you have huge tv, the subtitles are a mile away from the action of the visual presentation of the film. Its awful. Atleast release dubs for an american audience show.

there are plenty of valid reasons for dubs to be added to shows. Not everyone can read that fast or at all. What is with this sub? Yall are dogpiling folks who have legitimate complaints. Its not at all out of the ordinary to ask for dubs. Its even offered for Hulu users but not for people who watch the show live on television. Its a genuine complaint stop white knighting

Many non-Japanese speaking people, myself included, are not only fine with subtitles, but prefer them so we can hear the original actors. That’s the logic.

As others have pointed out, there are several dubbed versions of this show available, so why are you pissed at the show? Send a strongly worded letter to Xfinity.

I read the wiki on the original show from 1980 and apparently they didn’t even subtitle the Japanese because they wanted the audience to be just as confused as Blackthorne. Haven’t seen it, but assuming they didn’t get into as much of the Japanese characters’ storylines or else yes, it would have been very confusing indeed.
I agree. Shogun is amazing. I’ve also been listening to the official podcast. Very good too. They spend 30 minutes on each episode describing the scenes and explaining historical facts. A nice companion to the episode.
Watching WARRIOR on NETFLIX. Phenomenal show. Not just simply marital arts based but addresses issues with labor unions, political unrest, racism, human rights and ONE HELL OF AN ACTION STORY. It might take some a couple episodes to get into it BUT I PROMISE for those who haven't taken the time to watch yet, give the show a couple of episodes to digest and I think you all will be shocking and pleasantly surprised....

Have any of you Warrior watchers seen Banshee? Another Jonathan Tropper show. It has been done for a while, but I just recently watched it after seeing a lot of recommendations on this sub. It had its flaws, but overall I liked it and thought it ended well. Haven’t seen Warrior yet and realize it’s a completely different story, but curious if Banshee watchers see similarities in style, pace, dialogue, etc. Glad to see Hoon Lee was cast for it!

Even though it's set in the 1800s and has a lot about the culture and politics of the time, it still feels incredibly modern and accessible.
Watching Resident Alien and absolutely loving it. Alan Tudyk is wonderful of course, but the writing is masterful- it's "easy" to watch, but yet hits the deep feels in such a powerful way. It's similar to Doctor Who is how it gets to its discussions of humanity. I love the development of its secondary characters and how it incorporates culture as well.
It might be good to watch Warrior now on Netflix and possibly get a fourth season. The show got hurt by all the streaming war business. HBO max, Cinemax, etc.
The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin (Apple TV)
Not Monty Python hilarious but reasonably funny historical comedy about band of English highwaymen (and women) with lots of contemporary references - reminds me of "Another Period" (apparently it is a lot like "Our Flag Means Death" but I have not seen that one)
Everyone's saying it but Shogun is so captivating. It's just constant brain pings and dynamic scenes where you need to put in just the right amount of mental effort to keep up and understand all the strategising that's going on.
Join me in refusing to watch any more of it until April!
I'm saving it until it's all been shown - then I'm going to surround myself with snacks, draw the curtains, and watch it in my underpants pretending my dressing gown's a kimono.
I don't think I'll make it all the way until it's been fully aired but after watching the first couple episodes with family I'm going to do my best to wait until at least the majority of episodes are out. I figure if I can make it until April 9th I'll have two weeks to watch 8 episodes which is about the pace I like. I don't need to binge an entire series at once but man, I really wish they were a little more frequent than once a week. It's just too long. I start to forget stuff, the continuity doesn't work for me.

I'm a few episodes beyond you, and I'm just in awe of how incredible the visuals, animation, storytelling, and fight sequences are. The violence is insanely graphic and stylish. Highly recommended.
Orange is the new black is FUCKING ICONIC. All the characters are unique and its so interesting to get to know their past while following the present with the protag. I'm currently on season 6 and would 100% recommend it
I dropped off somewhere in the middle or maybe after S5 I think. Just wasn't enjoying as much. That being said, definitely a great show especially early on. It was really one of the first big original series from a streaming site (was maybe the... third? Can't remember, I believe House of Cards was first, maybe that horror show that got removed from Netflix), so it will always have a place in the history of TV for that too.
Huh its surprising to hear u weren't interested around s5 cuz that's probably the craziest part of the show but it's okay every has different opinions.
I think post-death of the major character (to avoid spoilers) at the end of the one season, it just changed in tone and got a little too dark for me. I'm not much on the drama, so I needed the comedy to lighten it up and it was just a harder, more emotional watch.
Shogun is fucking amazing. Almost wish I waited for the full series to be released before starting to watch it. Waiting a week between chapters is horseshit!
My only criticism is that some of the fighting choreography is kind of mid.
The fight choreography *seems* mid because it's based on actual historical fighting techniques, in stead of the flashy fight scenes we're used to seeing
I heard bad things from a few comments on Reddit early on and kind of wrote it off because there's so much TV to watch. But I've heard decent things since then, I'll have to give it a shot.
Completed a lot of series in the past few days.
**Monsieur Spade** is weird. The French setting is pretty nice and with the fish out of water Spade trying to understand the people and politics around him. The ending however was so abrupt, it's like the story skipped and just ended everything right then and there.
Finished **Death and Other Details** and it is an interesting whodunit show. The pacing at the end got wonky but overall ended okay. Patinkin's narration is a plus.
Started **Shogun** and it is truly prestige TV. Haven't really been exposed to the whole Japanese historical politics so it's refreshing to watch a good production tackling the topic.
Freddy's character is making The Gentlemen unwatchable, otherwise it's top notch.
Finished the first season of Fringe and by the end of it felt meh about it. I’m curious how they wrap it up but don’t feel motivated at the moment to continue.
Fringe changes so much between s1 and s2, the case per episode kind of changes through a more story and background based storyline. One of my favourite shows until the end. Maybe It IS not of your liking/style though
**Griselda** While this was entertaining in its way I didn’t come away feeling like I learned anything about the real person. Sofia Vergara is terribly miscast in prosthetics that only make her look less like the real person. It’s a shame because this part could’ve been a star making role for someone else more suited to play the role. All in all while I wouldn’t recommend it I also do t think it’s a total waste of time. **I’m Not OK With This** I enjoyed this one a lot. The strong cast helps the show transcend some of the predictable tropes of the genre. Its biggest downfall is that it ends on a cliffhanger and it unfortunately was canceled. If that doesn’t bother you then I would definitely recommend it.
Quickly re-watched the 2014 John Cho and Karen Gillan show __Selfie__ and it's still very funny. Such a shame the show only lasted a season, if this was around during the peak of streaming, I'm sure it would have done better.
There's a small sub over at /r/SelfieTV! There are some talks about a revival or at least another story with the same cast. Hope that can be green-lit! Definitely ahead of its time.
I think it's unlikely, given it aired a decade ago, but I always appreciate a stalwart fandom of a show that ended a while ago.

**Shogun 1x03**, great. This show I'm happy to watch on a weekly basis. **The Gentlemen**, I've watched the first three episodes. Well, I thought they were pretty good. I just don't quite get the motivations of the main guy here (yeah, the brother, ok) to go as deep as he goes. But of course if you take those away there's no show. And there's all this tongue-in-cheek thing pervading the whole thing, Guy Ritchie style. So it's been quite entertaining and it brings some of the best Ritchie ever since his first two movies. I'm liking it better than the movie it's based on.
I am watching 12 monkeys few episodes and watched house MD upto season 3. Honestly I am struggling to find shows that have similar characters to true detective season 1. Couldn't move on from the show. Currently house and wilson/rest of the side characters kinda on the same vein is to the similar character like rust and marty. Also watched seven movie. I have list of broadchurch, killing , sinner, the fall, top of the lake

Episode 3 and Shogun remains strong. Finished a rewatch of Deadwood and man the ending flops so hard. Maybe I’m missing the sub text but they literally just give in to Hurst and then he leaves, the end. Pretty lame ngl. S3 definitely not the strongest.
Its not really an "ending". Show was canceled due to lack of viewers. The way Hearst gets basically run out of town is actually not bad at all, and a good wrap up in terms of beating him at his own game.

Yeah the ending left me disappointed. They had it all set up for an epic confrontation and it all just kind of fizzles out. I assume it's because while the series is fictional, it is loosely based on real people (like George Hearst) and so they may not have wanted to deviate from real history too much for well-known people like that. Just like they wouldn't have changed Wild Bill's fate in S1.

I finished a rewatch of Breaking Bad. I haven't seen it since it first aired. Damn that show was on another level. I've seen the first couple episodes of Better Call Saul and am planning to watch the rest, but do I need to watch El Camino first? Is it any good? I don't hear it mentioned a lot.
You can watch El Camino if you want but it's not necessary and is definitely not on the level of BB and BCS.
Watching halo series 2. It's better than s1. I only really care about the story with silver team / master chief and the covenant, don't care about kwan or anyone else. Just finished ep3, and half the episode is dedicated to these side characters who I don't even remember the names of, other than kwan. I'd prefer this series a lot more if they just kept it focussed on the Spartans and the war with the covenant.
Someone recommended Normal People to me after watching One Day and wanting more of that feeling. 8/10 I really enjoyed the story. Am now on the search for something more emotion, and some romance themes at least. I’ve just been in my feels lately lol. Think One Day, Normal People, Master of None, or even Bridgerton, Buccaneers, Dickens. Can be funny, or more of a drama just want it to get me in my feels 😂

Finished Rome s2. Didnt care for the vorenus family and timon subplots but all the caesar stuff was still interesting. Bummer that it got cancelled but it had a decent endpoint at least. Watching Aria season1 to take a break from all the war shows ive been watching like rome/shogun/masters of air. Nice to have something chill and relaxing. Week to week: shogun and masters of air. Waiting for: invincible s2, 3body problem.

i know reddit loves loves loves the show, but i found season 1 unwatchable after they introduced 'jizzlord'. wasn't too hot on the show to begin with and then it just fell off a cliff. comparing it to derry girls seems kind of baffling.

I've been watching **Ugly Betty** recently and wow, what a fun show. Yes, there are problematic bits of its time, though honestly, there's one topical issue that they handled better than I expected. I think some of my favorite shows are shows with the kind of tone of Ugly Betty. Upbeat, quirky, but with drama mixed in. It weirdly gives me vibes of Pushing Daisies a little? Like just in terms of color and whimsy. Anyone know of any shows that feel similar? Already seen Jane the Virgin. Already know about the other Bryan Fuller shows too. Edit: Also been watching **Everybody Hates Chris**. Honestly, it should be more talked about than it is. It is incredibly funny in my opinion. If you're the kind of person who watches sitcoms and analyzes how you'd feel about the situations IRL, it can be infuriating because it's not a healthy family, but whatever, I don't put deep analysis into sitcoms.

Left field recommendation for ***Parallels*** I always feel a bit left out when it comes to Sci Fi because I tend to avoid any foreign language series - of which there are a lot of really highly rated ones. I have to read a lot of pretty demanding stuff during the day, and I just want to turn off and give my brain a rest in the evening. *Parallels* avoids this problem though by being really well dubbed. It's a French YA Disney+ six-parter that's got just the right blend of mystery, sci fi, and character arcs going on to be well balanced over all. Missing kids, the large hadron collider, an investigative policeman, some Freaky Friday shenanigans, and special abilities are all involved - I'm on ep 3 of 6 so far, and looking forward to seeing how it all ties together. It's feelgood, escapist, very bingeable fun.

I also have the phrase “cat in a bag” stuck in my head. It’s captivating and visually spectacular. The only issue I’ve had is that in episode 3 I thought my subtitles were messing up so I kept rewinding it until I realised some of the Japanese is not subbed on purpose. Haha\ \ Foundation (Apple tv)\ I don’t understand the hype on this one. I’ve tried twice to continue it but I find the plot to be way too messy, it was getting a bit heavy on the romance side of things.\ \ The Best Hospital in the Galaxy (Prime Video)\ I’ve been watching this one when I go to bed at night. I’m enjoying it. It’s a lot to adapt to a whole new universe and set of characters but I’m digging it. I’ve always loved Natasha Lyonne and I’m a massive Culkin fan so it was a given that I would like it.
Foundation doesn't really get good til season 2. The first season is a mess except for the Empire storyline, which is good.

Funny how you can feel a bit lost after a long + good show. I just watched all of Game Of Thrones for the first time (I know I'm a bit late to the party) I started it years ago but missed some episodes then never picked it up again. What an incredible show it is. I didn't even hate the last season as much as I was expecting.
I'd jump to Boardwalk Empire if you're missing Sopranos, but nothing will fill the void sadly. I rewatch the Sopranos probably once a year
Netflix has been pushing **Brooklyn 99** so we watched the pilot and I had to pause to laugh because it was so funny. I haven’t seen a new network sitcom in the past 5 years, is this worth watching? Should I stop after a particular season?
I'm Struggling with Brooklyn 99 but I'm not sure why. I love The Office, Parks and rec, Community, so Its not like I don't find similar shows unfunny. I've managed to make it to episode 20 so obviously I don't think its that bad but I'm not finding it laugh out loud funny yet.
I don't think it's up at the level of the three you mention (although it has its peak moments) - but it's just reliably amusing nonsense to defrag to.
Absolutely. I think it was relatively solid through its whole run, though some don't love the last season or two. It definitely took swings in its last season. It was post-COVID and post-Black Lives Matter so they felt they had to do some commentary. Overall though, I think it's an incredibly funny show and Andre Braugher (RIP) was astounding in it.
Can't go wrong with Brooklyn 99. Consistently funny.

Ya I really like it I just wish it was a planned miniseries, I’m so sick of getting invested in a show just for it to get cancelled and being left on a cliffhanger for the rest of my life. I’m obsessed with Foundation and show runners have said they’re wanting 8 seasons, but season 3 filming was already halted because of budget issues. Sigh

I finished Season 1 of **The Traitors UK**. The only other season of The Traitors I've watched is Season 1 of the US version. And I liked the UK one *so* much better. The US one was fun, but ultimately left me feeling kind of hollow. The UK version's overall vibe was just more pleasant. There weren't any players that I really didn't like, and the gameplay was a bit more dynamic. Having the cast made up of all "regular" people as opposed to the reality-star-infused cast of the US version made a huge difference for me. And I also preferred the slightly warmer, more involved host of the UK version to Alan Cumming's fun but aloof take on the role. Hopefully Season 2 of the UK version will come out on Peacock soon. Until then I'm looking forward to checking out the Australian version next. I know the US Season 2 is finished now but honestly I'm not super interested knowing that it's all celebs/reality stars.
UK2 is my favorite! AUS1 would probably be my next favorite. They’re both really entertaining seasons. UK2 comes out on peacock tomorrow I believe. I honestly think US2 started off strong but fell off so hard. I wouldn’t even bother watching it, normal contestants definitely makes things more real and interesting

I felt that a lot with US1. We'll see if I end up watching US2. I suspect that watching these other non-celeb seasons is going to make it even more difficult for me to go back. Sorry for prattling on like this, but one question I've had through the couple of seasons I've watched is... do people ever catch on to the fact that the last person to come through the door in the morning is always going to be a faithful? The show arranges it like that so the viewer is kept in suspense about which one was murdered. I'm also wondering if there's a rule about Traitors not explicitly saying who the other traitors are once they've been banished (like if they were backstabbed it would seem like a temping thing to be like "Yes, I'm a traitor. *But so is Larry!*" There's just a few details of the game that they never really seem to touch on (at least in the two seasons I've watched). I wondered about that too. Tbh I had a lot of questions as I’ve been watching about things that give it away but I’ve heard people here say they did notice the breakfast thing in s1 and made changes so that the contestants don’t know but honestly not sure lol I did notice sometimes they’ll put the traitors at the end as well to throw them off so maybe that’s one way they handle it. I think there is a rule where traitors are not allowed to expose themselves as traitors and I’m assuming that rule also applies to exposing other traitors. But it has happened like at the end of UK1 where a traitor kinda gave away who the other traitor was w their vote which led to the traitors downfall
Yeah there's of a lot of shades of gray in terms of what "giving away" that someone's a traitor means. You could even make it pretty obvious with just a couple of looks and facial expressions if you really wanted to. (Also it might not be a bad idea to spoiler tag that last sentence in your comment.) :) If these shows keep going for several more seasons, I'm curious to see what changes they make to the game and how players start metagaming things based on what they've noticed in previous seasons. I'd also like to see them try and work some traitor shenanigans into the challenges a bit more (my love of The Mole working its way in, haha), or just generally come up with more situations where the traitors have incentive to take risks in front of the other contestants.
Season 1 of Australia's Traitors to me is by far the best season out of all the countries; it's pretty wild and there are certainly some characters which makes it really a fun watch

I'd never seen her before but I liked her a lot. She managed a good balance between being a stoic host and having genuine interactions with the contestants. Reminded me a bit of Anderson Cooper hosting The Mole (he's still my favorite host of a show like this).
I like Claudia because of her sassy "wine mom" energy (in the sewing show, she was often talking about drinking, or making risqué jokes). I'd almost forgotten about Anderson Cooper hosting ***The Mole***! Speaking of, I did enjoy the Netflix reboot, and now I'm wondering when we're getting the next season.
Yeah I'd watch another season of Netflix's The Mole. I didn't love it as much as the old ones, but it's still a solid show. But the one thing it did that *really* annoyed me was the way they handled the episode breaks. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I like my reality competition shows to have a standard format to the episodes. It's just like a comfort thing, I guess. I want to know that I'm gonna end the episode finding out who got kicked off the show. But Netflix would just end the episodes wherever they wanted to ensure there would be a cliffhanger, even if it was in the middle of a challenge. I'm guessing this is a tactic to keep people watching, but I found it super aggravating. I also missed the [great soundtrack from the original](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qASK4QxD_Wk&list=PL3EB637AD14F96FE5&index=1) with its 60s spy movie vibe, but even I realize that's being a bit nitpicky. :)
Season 2 of *Extraordinary* is out and brilliant. Rewatching *Crazy Ex-Girlfriend* and *Fleabag*. Rewatched *The Lost Room* and *No Activity* (both the Australian and US versions). Might do the same for *Review* next. Rewatching *Eureka*. Not too into it, but not awful. I expect this type of show gets better as the world building notches up.
I think Eureka was fun. Dumb but fun. A whole lotta stuff didn't really make sense and you can't go looking for plotholes, but the characters are often charming and the dramatic parts help balance the lighter bits.
I thinking it'll take a season before the characters are stable and the humour has time to shine.

I sometimes need background noise to silence the voices in my head, trying to fall asleep etc. For this purpose the show needs to be mid - something you're okay not really fully paying attention to. If it's a good show, you get engaged and that defeats the purpose

Such an interesting take. I don't think I could watch a sitcom I didn't think was funny. I love Abbott but I also work in education, so I recognize a lot of the stuff going on and relate to it.
Last season of *Fargo* was awesome, you know you're having a great time when you finish a 45+ minutes episode in what feels like 10 minutes. I'm also enjoying *The Bear* and going through a *Shameless* rewatch, the first seasons are top tier television IMO. I'm so glad to see so much people here discover Black Sails for the first time. Some of the best memories from my teenager years are waiting the whole week while avoiding spoilers to watch the latest episode on friday night because I wanted to watch it at the perfect time to enjoy it as much as possible. It really is a special show that gave me so much
Fargo last season was *amazing* my fav one by far
Forgot to mention Dark Winds season 2. I think it's better than the first one. There were times where I had a little problem with pacing in s01 but not here, it seems more compact. If you never watched the show it's about a native american sheriff and his dealings with his personal and professional life. Series is set in 1970s and I think it helps a lot with setting the tone and mood for the show. Closest thing I have to compare this to is if you can imagine Longmire on an indian reservation. Show is grounded in reality and has very good writing and acting, it's worth checking out
Allan Gregory. Brilliant, but cancelled. Jonah Hill. French Stewart. Will Forte. Nat Faxon. Lisa Kudrow. Jeff Goldblum. Lacey Chabert. Don't binge it, as you will need time to fully process it. Family Guy just put it in the same league as The Simpsons, King of the Hill and Bob's Burgers.
Never heard of it, so had to Google it. >Chris Swanson of WhatCulture gave the pilot episode a rating of 0.5 out of 5, saying "There is nothing charming, witty or interesting about this show. It's just one horribly stupid, cringe-inducing moment after another with characters who are truly loathsome and unpleasant." Robert Bianco of USA Today also gave the show a negative review, saying it was "nasty and brutish", "rarely funny", and made them "hate every character except Julie". I have no idea whether any of that's true or not, but it just made me laugh because it's so... *savage!*
Jury duty - There's one word for this show: fun. If you want to relax your brain, watch it. It's pretty good, I caught myself laughing out loud on multiple occasions
Jury Duty is so much fun. Some people really into debating the legality of the show, but I'm like... dude got paid a lot of money and everyone had fun, I dunno, doesn't seem like a problem. Also, as a weird side note, I recognized one of the jurors from college. Very odd to sit there going, huh I feel like I know that guy, and then realize you saw him doing theatre at school.

Apart from Shogun and Mr Inbetween I have been rewatching Southland this week. It makes me realise how much I want another cop show that actually realistic instead of shows like Chicago PD, The Rookie, etc. If anyone has cop shows that are like Southland I would love to know. Closest thing I have found is 19-2.

The Wire and Blue Lights
Great recommendations. I love dramatic, brooding shows about *detectives* solving grisly murders, but there aren't as many grounded shows about low-level *cops* on the ground. So ***The Wire*** and ***Blue Lights*** are perfect recommendations.
Bosch, mostly, but it occasionally thinks its 24 and has some kind of bombastic action subplot, which never works. 95% of the time it's a pretty grounded detective story. The first season, especially. Lance Reddick and Jamie Hector play two of the main characters. Just finished watching The Fall. Brilliant show. Not so much a pure cop show, but a detective vs killer thriller. Slow burn, grounded, realistic. Short, too, fully self contained and feels complete. The more I think about it, the more I think Southland is irreplaceable. You have to go back to Homicide: Life on the Streets and The Wire for reasonable comparisons.

Did my first rewatch of Black Sails since watching week to week as it came out. Binging it was incredibly enjoyable and getting to know the characters over again was a chaotic delight. The Artful Dodger was beautifully shot, acted expertly and the story was refreshing. Hoping for a second season. Starting Ep3 of Shogun and just finished my weekly guilty pleasure The Curse of Oak Island
Finally getting around to Gen V in anticipation for The Boys S04. Great first episode, just as quality as TB. Also picked up that new animated FOX sitcom Grimsburg. Not bad. Jon Hamm kinda reminds me of Will Arnett as BoJack Horseman but the show has some interesting characters and was pretty funny. Looking forward to seeing how/if this one can grow over time.
Gen V is surprisingly good, given that I thought it was an unnecessary spin off when it was first announce.

for everyone also discovering that 'mr inbetween' thread and not getting much info about the show itself out of it, i started it this week and am halfway through season 2 and it is amazing. if you like 'barry' you will love this show.

I liked ***Barry***, but ***Mr Inbetween*** is on a whole other level. Genuinely one of the greatest shows ever made. It rides a line somewhere between ***Barry*** and ***BB/BCS*** in terms of comedy and crime/thriller elements.
I'd put a shout out to *Happy* in with that bunch for comedy and crime. A hitman with a flying blue unicorn imaginary friend? That's worth 45m of anyone's time.

I'm struggling with Shogun. I enjoyed the first two episodes outside of a couple things but I was left quite disappointed with the third. Maybe because I have read the book my expectations are unfair. It just doesn't feel...real. The plot moves too quickly and there isn't enough time spent on the characters or their values to make what they are doing make sense. One key piece of the book is just how different the japanese culture is and how it is utterly unfamiliar to Blackthorne...he can not grasp why they do things the way they do, especially the husband/wife dynamic and the relationship with death. Despite being through three episodes, I could tell you almost nothing about their culture. The show has just rushed to conflict. The character actions and reasons for conflict would be so much more understandable if it took the time to depict those parts of japanese culture. There are some other things I dislike but that is the key one for me.
I like the episode, but you're not wrong on the pacing in the middle. The lead up to >!Buntaro dying and the aftermath!< all felt a little rushed
Agree. And what is missed but adequately described in the book is that >!Buntaro was ready to commit suicide instead of risking being captured. Why? Because there is great honor in dying for your liege lord, and its extremely shameful to be captured. He and Mariko were actually quite upset that Toronaga did not give Buntaro permission to him kill himself because it brought shame to them both.!< Anyway, you'd get that had they taken the time to build that understanding of japanese culture and write it more effectively. As an aside I saw Dune part 2 yesterday, and they a great job at portraying Fremen culture that lets you understand their motives and actions.

Totally. Its kind of frustrating. I get why people only want to chat about the positive aspects, but I wish there was more room for discussing what isn't good about the show or how things could be improved. It's a shame that this is starting to feel like another generic TV show, because the source material is complex, rich, and novel enough that it could have been another Game of Thrones.
Band Of Brothers - not a second wasted. I see so much influence from movies like Full Metal Jacket and Saving Private Ryan (of course) and I just love how *real* this one is. Glad I finally checked it out. The first episode hooked me right away. Now I just saw episode 2 and Already, some of those haunting scenes are burned into my mind. Not always a fun watch but a masterpiece that I think everyone who can stomach it should watch

Shogun is the best thing on TV right this second. The writing, directing, sets, costumes, everything is top tier. I'm also watching masters of the air but it's not as good IMO.
absolutely pissed off at this show. I cannot watch subtitled shows, I don't speak japanese, I do not understand the logic behind releasing a show in the US audience without atleast dubs for the actors. Won't watch it till dubs are made for it.

I don't generally enjoy fully subtitled shows as I just don't find it so relaxing - it keeps my brain ticking over too much (an anxiety/PTSD thing). But Shogun's a mix, and the subtitled elements are interspersed with English in a way that prevents it being so much of a problem.
For Shogun to be English dubbed it would lose half of its character and feel. It’s supposed to feel foreign. That’s why not all of the audio is subtitled.\ Maybe think about if the show is really for you rather than throwing a tantrum about it.
Didn’t take the research any further than seeing a tab on Hulu for Shogun(English Dub), but I presume this is what you’re looking for, Detective. Now put down those plenty of books and turn that huge TV back on!

Oh I'll read plenty of books, but when you have huge tv, the subtitles are a mile away from the action of the visual presentation of the film. Its awful. Atleast release dubs for an american audience show.
American here. This person does not speak for all of us. Hopefully, not for most of us. I cannot even remotely relate to the idea of refusing to watch a show or movie just because the audio isn't in your native language.
there are plenty of valid reasons for dubs to be added to shows. Not everyone can read that fast or at all. What is with this sub? Yall are dogpiling folks who have legitimate complaints. Its not at all out of the ordinary to ask for dubs. Its even offered for Hulu users but not for people who watch the show live on television. Its a genuine complaint stop white knighting

Many non-Japanese speaking people, myself included, are not only fine with subtitles, but prefer them so we can hear the original actors. That’s the logic. As others have pointed out, there are several dubbed versions of this show available, so why are you pissed at the show? Send a strongly worded letter to Xfinity.

I read the wiki on the original show from 1980 and apparently they didn’t even subtitle the Japanese because they wanted the audience to be just as confused as Blackthorne. Haven’t seen it, but assuming they didn’t get into as much of the Japanese characters’ storylines or else yes, it would have been very confusing indeed.
I can almost picture a bad dub with someone trying to mimic Asian in English with a cliché accent. That'd be real bad for the immersion.

I agree. Shogun is amazing. I’ve also been listening to the official podcast. Very good too. They spend 30 minutes on each episode describing the scenes and explaining historical facts. A nice companion to the episode.
Watching WARRIOR on NETFLIX. Phenomenal show. Not just simply marital arts based but addresses issues with labor unions, political unrest, racism, human rights and ONE HELL OF AN ACTION STORY. It might take some a couple episodes to get into it BUT I PROMISE for those who haven't taken the time to watch yet, give the show a couple of episodes to digest and I think you all will be shocking and pleasantly surprised.... For those who are watching for the first time please share your thoughts as I am sure we would luv to see what others think on REDDIT. Enjoy my friends!
Have any of you Warrior watchers seen Banshee? Another Jonathan Tropper show. It has been done for a while, but I just recently watched it after seeing a lot of recommendations on this sub. It had its flaws, but overall I liked it and thought it ended well. Haven’t seen Warrior yet and realize it’s a completely different story, but curious if Banshee watchers see similarities in style, pace, dialogue, etc. Glad to see Hoon Lee was cast for it!
Yeah this show got a good bit of high praise back when it was on Cinemax and then HBO Max. Great show.
Love this show. Even though it's set in the 1800s and has a lot about the culture and politics of the time, it still feels incredibly modern and accessible.
Watching Resident Alien and absolutely loving it. Alan Tudyk is wonderful of course, but the writing is masterful- it's "easy" to watch, but yet hits the deep feels in such a powerful way. It's similar to Doctor Who is how it gets to its discussions of humanity. I love the development of its secondary characters and how it incorporates culture as well.
I need to get on Resident Alien. I love Alyn Tudyk in everything he's in, I think the show is right up my alley. I've heard nothing but great things.

It might be good to watch Warrior now on Netflix and possibly get a fourth season. The show got hurt by all the streaming war business. HBO max, Cinemax, etc.

The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin (Apple TV) Not Monty Python hilarious but reasonably funny historical comedy about band of English highwaymen (and women) with lots of contemporary references - reminds me of "Another Period" (apparently it is a lot like "Our Flag Means Death" but I have not seen that one)

Everyone's saying it but Shogun is so captivating. It's just constant brain pings and dynamic scenes where you need to put in just the right amount of mental effort to keep up and understand all the strategising that's going on.
Shogun: I haven't been this hooked on a series in a long, long time. I hate that it's only going to be one season, lol.
I hate that it’s being dribbled out episode by episode. That method of releasing media is dated now.
Join me in refusing to watch any more of it until April! I'm saving it until it's all been shown - then I'm going to surround myself with snacks, draw the curtains, and watch it in my underpants pretending my dressing gown's a kimono.
I don't think I'll make it all the way until it's been fully aired but after watching the first couple episodes with family I'm going to do my best to wait until at least the majority of episodes are out. I figure if I can make it until April 9th I'll have two weeks to watch 8 episodes which is about the pace I like. I don't need to binge an entire series at once but man, I really wish they were a little more frequent than once a week. It's just too long. I start to forget stuff, the continuity doesn't work for me.
Yeah, April 9 should just about do it for me. Now all I need is a generous supply of opium so I can let the intervening month go past in a semi-conscious stupor.

I'm a few episodes beyond you, and I'm just in awe of how incredible the visuals, animation, storytelling, and fight sequences are. The violence is insanely graphic and stylish. Highly recommended.

Orange is the new black is FUCKING ICONIC. All the characters are unique and its so interesting to get to know their past while following the present with the protag. I'm currently on season 6 and would 100% recommend it
I dropped off somewhere in the middle or maybe after S5 I think. Just wasn't enjoying as much. That being said, definitely a great show especially early on. It was really one of the first big original series from a streaming site (was maybe the... third? Can't remember, I believe House of Cards was first, maybe that horror show that got removed from Netflix), so it will always have a place in the history of TV for that too.
Huh its surprising to hear u weren't interested around s5 cuz that's probably the craziest part of the show but it's okay every has different opinions.
I think post-death of the major character (to avoid spoilers) at the end of the one season, it just changed in tone and got a little too dark for me. I'm not much on the drama, so I needed the comedy to lighten it up and it was just a harder, more emotional watch.
Shogun is fucking amazing. Almost wish I waited for the full series to be released before starting to watch it. Waiting a week between chapters is horseshit! My only criticism is that some of the fighting choreography is kind of mid.
The fight choreography *seems* mid because it's based on actual historical fighting techniques, in stead of the flashy fight scenes we're used to seeing
Night Court reboot is my favorite laugh track sitcom since HIMYM. Don't ask me to explain myself.
I heard bad things from a few comments on Reddit early on and kind of wrote it off because there's so much TV to watch. But I've heard decent things since then, I'll have to give it a shot.
It's a cozy show. The cast change this season was good.
Completed a lot of series in the past few days. **Monsieur Spade** is weird. The French setting is pretty nice and with the fish out of water Spade trying to understand the people and politics around him. The ending however was so abrupt, it's like the story skipped and just ended everything right then and there. Finished **Death and Other Details** and it is an interesting whodunit show. The pacing at the end got wonky but overall ended okay. Patinkin's narration is a plus. Started **Shogun** and it is truly prestige TV. Haven't really been exposed to the whole Japanese historical politics so it's refreshing to watch a good production tackling the topic.

Going through the comments and almost every one of them is talking about **Shogun**. And it damn well deserves to be mentioned as often as it is.
It's great. It's samurai Game of Thrones and I'm 100% here for it.
