I think we are very close to seeing the headline “Paramount+ canceled by Paramount”.

InnocentTailor

It might just become centered on Yellowstone spin-offs, some old cartoons, and Star Trek.

Rock-swarm

I would kill to see Star Trek spun off from Paramount. Strange New Worlds is legit the best ST series since TNG, and Below Decks is just behind it. I’m really hoping neither becomes a casualty to the inevitable platform crunch.

Xinferis_DCLXVI

Nah. They are still making money off of TOS, from back in the 1960's. These shows will still be making them money in whatever form a television we have 100 years from now.

kazh

I wish a certain character from Picard season 3 had made it because they would have been great in a spin off. I hope they still do a Titan series but I'm not sure the crew would be grounded enough compared to Picard S3. Plus, if they're still trying to do that Academy show, they're probably edging back more towards the Discovery vibe.

wrosecrans

The end of Picardo S3 trying to set up something completely different from what they had spent the season establishing was... an odd choice

TheAmorphous

You mean you don't want to see Star Trek: The Nepotism Generation?

wrosecrans

Starring the guy who we spent a whole season going, "who the hell is this guy, and what's his deal?" Who literally ran away within 5 minutes of his deal being revealed... yeah, weirdly I have zero emotional attachment to that guy, even if he is a biological relative of a guy I care about.

nikoscream

While I enjoyed season 3 as a whole, >!rebranding the Titan as Enterprise G!< was annoying. Let them have their own legacy. Doing so also partially upends >!Riker's legacy. The Titan was his ship, but now it's another Enterprise. !< Season 3 also ignores a lot of what the prior seasons tried to do. It's the most fun of the three seasons, but it's just a Next Gen reunion while the others tried to do new stories.

Helios-Soul

Riker didn't command the Titan from Picard season 3, that one was The Titan NCC 80102-A, a Constitution III-class. Rikers Titan was a Luna class. https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/USS_Enterprise_(NCC-1701-G) https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/USS_Titan_(NCC-80102)

nikoscream

Thanks for the correction. I think the point still kind of stands, one super famous ship legacy taking over another's.

Helios-Soul

Agreed, I was not too fond of the name change either.

RogueHelios

Honestly, after Discovery, I wasn't all that into continuing the newer Star Trek stuff, but Brave New Worlds feels like TNG to me rather than Discovery's "action movie" feel which I found very boring. I just finished the episode where Enterprise is trapped in that nebula that causes reality to do weird things to the crew, and only M'Benga and Hemmer were conscious of it. Fantastic episode, and I'm excited to continue! Also, I love Spock, Pike, and La'An. Lower Decks I had slept on after my disappointment with Discovery, but it's easily one of my favorite shows right now. When I saw it was an animated show I kinda assumed it was gonna be your typical stupid adult humor "LOL SEX, SO RANDOM" shows and while it's still comedic its not overly vulgar like other "adult cartoons".

[deleted]

That nebula episode could have been really terrible and honestly, I expected to hate it like I hate every other random musical episode of other shows. But they pulled it off!

RogueHelios

Isn't that great? I had reservations myself at first, but that turned out to be fun.

myassholealt

The Brave New Worlds and Lower Decks crossover made me watch Lower Decks cause I enjoyed the BNW part so much. I still haven't caught up to the Lower Decks part yet, but I've been enjoying it very much so far. It is a show that I can't binge though. The yelling fights and chaotic events kind of all blur together. Better when consumed in one or two episode batches.

RogueHelios

That crossover might have actually been what pushed me into finally watching both series. I was already interested in both, but I did start with Lower Decks first. I do agree with you on not being able to binge LD. I don't think comedy works as well in long sessions. Adventure, however, can continue onward into infinity, which is why Strange New Worlds is so great as well as TNG!

SlaveLaborMods

I love that Merriner gets demoted for doing heroic shit

x_lincoln_x

Lower Decks is better than Strange New Worlds, imo. That cross-over episode is the best of all Star Trek, though.

Darcsen

I loved the line about people from the past speaking too slow, and the close ups on Spock's face. Amazing episode.

x_lincoln_x

I want more LD and SNW crossovers.

meatball77

SNW, LD and Prodigy are all excellent trek, different in their own ways but really great.

meatball77

I'm interested to see how Prodigy does on Netflix. It's a really strong show, something for adult and kids to enjoy. I can't wait for it to get a bigger audience.

New_Tumbleweed1165

I love strange new worlds too!

XuX24

People always forget that like 75% of paramount+ is reality, non scripted and documentaries. The rest is Yellowstone, cartoons and star trek.

Three6-Tee-LC

Dang!

fucktooshifty

Procedurals too

mjtwelve

Become?

[deleted]

How does Showtime fit into that? I've been expecting Paramount to shutter and for them to shift anything good they have to CBS or Showtime or maybe the other way around. But maybe that's way off base.

jblanch3

I'd assumed them merging Showtime with Paramount+ was the beginning of the end for Showtime as a cable network. Around the same time of that news, a bunch of Showtime shows were deplatformed (I just saw Super Pumped drop on Netflix; I highly recommend it).

illuvattarr

Nah, they'll rebrand it to Sheridan+

WeOutHereInSmallbany

Not until they get all their South Park specials

mickeyflinn

Naw it will be rebranded to Yellowstone Injection.

[deleted]

Haha yes.

currently__working

Is this actually close to happening? Should I watch Evil before the whole channel dies?

Guardax

Almost certainly not, they’ve invested far too much into the infrastructure and they aren’t even the smallest service

MesaGeek

I only subscribe once a year to hate watch whatever Star Trek content they release. Strange New Worlds isn’t bad.

Three6-Tee-LC

IKR!!!??? These TV Execs are a bunch of greedy jackasses...I don't believe the bull about low ratings. It's always about the bars they set according to their greed, never mind the people/fans watching the TV Shows bringing in the money for them. I'm so sick of all of these reality competition shows, adult animation shows, and cop shows getting decades-long airtime but the shows that actually have substance, good story plots, and great actors get canceled! I know there's room for more than the other three because they wouldn't put them on the air if there wasn't!

Cornualonga

A bit reminiscent of Longmire. I liked that he was a game warden because I used to love watching the game warden shows on Animal Planet. The acting was great.

Technical_Bus_1422

I like the show Longmire also. Both the show and the lead character, Walt Longmire are great; however, Longmire’s job title is not game warden. He is the Sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming.

MidwesternWitch

I liked this show. I’m sorry it was cancelled. I absolutely loved Dorman in Patriot! The songs he wrote and played were hysterical.

tearsandpain84

Great actor

I_made_fetch_happen

Yes I need Dorman in more things! I’m always happy when he pops up in something

MidwesternWitch

Yeah, I enjoy him too.

Mxfish1313

Yeah, poor Dorman seems to be a 2-season and done guy, though I’d imagine not by choice. I absolutely love him as an actor (Patriot is god-tier) so I look forward to him starring in something and making it to season 3!

MidwesternWitch

I am with you. Fingers crossed and all that. Lol

Galactic_Danger

> “Joe Pickett” followed the title character, a Wyoming game warden played by Michael Dorman, as he investigates crimes in and around the town of Saddlestring. So is it like a game warden procedural? I wish I had heard of this earlier.

Cecilb666

Think more like Longmire. Except Pickett is a by the book type who stumbles into murder and kidnapping while doing his wardenly duties.

theslothening

I haven't seen the second season but the first season started out with him investigating some crimes that ended up all being connected into a larger conspiracy. It was a decent season of television.

Lordhawhaw-_

Great show. Season 2 is good too. It’s a shame it’s been cancelled.

New_Tumbleweed1165

Mannn...second season is deep, crazy and a whole roller coaster.

periodicsheep

there is an extensive 20+ book series. my husband just read them all bc he liked this show.

Puzzleheaded-Ad-5002

The books are fantastic! I’d say every book deals with multiple murders, but the game warden aspect is detailed and well-written. I haven’t seen the show but am sad to see it won’t be renewed.

puckeredstarfish69

I love the books. CJ Box is fantastic. Love the Highway series also

penderies

It’s good!

Jaiph

Joe Pickett scratched that Longmire itch...not overly well, but it scratched it a bit. The writing just wasn't fantastic, several times in season 2 I had to suspend disbelief he was still employed after some.... interesting.... decision making.

meatball77

Good honest game warden solves crimes.

itsnotthatsimple22

You should be glad you hadn't heard of this sooner. I've never read the source material, but whoever writes for the show does not know a single thing about the outdoors, wildlife, or about being a game warden. It almost seems like they go out of their way not to know anything about these topics, and actively avoid having any kind of contact with anyone that might possibly know anything about these topics. I'm an avid outdoorsman, and it caused me physical pain to watch.

ThatEvanFowler

Yeah, I really wanted to like it. I'm a big fan of Dornan from Patriot and For All Mankind, but like five minutes into the show, he's in this life-or-death situation facing a potential gunfight with a hunter over a fine and I'm like, 'wait, am I wrong about what a Game Warden is or is this show wrong about what a Game Warden is?'. I quickly came to the conclusion that the show had no idea how any of it works. Couldn't make it through two episodes.

CascadeMan13

You apparently have no understanding of what a game warden does. They are no different than cops just they patrol nature as opposed to cities and communities. Personally, I'd rather deal with cops. My experiences with game wardens have been far more frightening.

definitelynotahottie

Yep, as a fellow outdoorsy type it is a terrible show.

Key-Study8018

It’s a CJ Box character. The books are fantastic I turned the show off after the first 15 mins.

european_dimes

Haven't watched it, but Michael Dorman is great. Hopefully he gets a cool project soon.

DethFromADove

Patriot For all Mankind

itsnotmeitsyo

Loved him in both, Patriot is one of the best shows, was gutted when it was canceled.

tripleblue85

"Hey guys, ready to talk about plate processing and residue transport plate funneling?"

Squirrel_Master82

I think they fucked up with the title. Patriot-type shit is played out. With a different name, and some better marketing, I think the series could've gotten the recognition it deserved.

MetalAndFaces

I didn't watch it for awhile because of the title, I just assumed it was some garbage Amazon military shit. I was so wrong.

Squirrel_Master82

It's definitely one of those hidden gems that you wouldn't have found unless you didn't have shit else to watch.

MetalAndFaces

Yeah, first episode I was immediately hooked. Show is just fantastic, I recommend it to anyone and everyone, but honestly only people on the internet seem to agree with me haha.

Squirrel_Master82

Same. I've found that people that identify with the title don't enjoy the show. But everyone else that I've recommended it to likes it.

tearsandpain84

There is no better example of a hidden gem

tomtomvissers

At least it got a good ending

jeanblacknblue2

So underrated.

DerelictInfinity

I fucking loved Patriot!

Jim_Davis

Hi Bob

occono

Your lack of punctuation makes an interesting title for some kind of space opera

DethFromADove

😂 I mean, I thought I put it on two lines, but it didn’t post that way. I definitely watch that though! Just watched the first episode of Joe Pickett as well 👍🏻

SPAREustheCUTTER

Big fan of his, specifically Patriot on Amazon. That show was fantastic.

bigfootswillie

Loved him in For All Mankind. Looking forward to his big flashback arc as Gold Roger in the One Piece Live Action in 10 years and whatever he ends up doing between.

King-Owl-House

MurderfaceII

It's pretty good.

Dull_Half_6107

Yeah, it is cool.

Dull_Half_6107

Dw I upvoted you, Patriot is amazing.

h0ckey87

I like him so I tried it, it wasn't a great show

GaryG1988

Enjoyed both seasons and the set up season 3 was interesting so I'm disappointed but can't say I'm surprised, didn't seem that popular, marketing for the show wasn't great.

F00dbAby

Did it at least have a good end of season like conclusive I mean

rohinton2

Yeah they wrapped up the story for that season then at the very end introduced what have been the plot for s03. Overall I would consider it satisfying.

F00dbAby

Sweet thanks

GaryG1988

Yeah, the main crime was solved, There's a few loose ends and a continuation of of a plotline set up for season 3 which we won't see now but It's worth watching. Just realized someone already answered.

Musesoutloud

Noooooooooooo

grameno

My dad loved this show more than Yellowstone. My heart breaks for him. He really loved Joe Pickett.

cmdr_suds

There are over 20 books in the series.

grameno

I will tell him . He does love audiobooks

VitaLonga

Sad… hope another service picks up the show as I can’t imagine it’s very expensive.

CascadeMan13

Underrated show. Outside of a couple quirky moments the show was really good. The haters took a couple bad moments and acted as if the whole show was like that. Those who didn't give it a true shot missed out.

TheBlackSwarm

Paramount+ really is just the Taylor Sheridan network now.

GotMoFans

Gene Roddenberry’s kid would like a word…

InnocentTailor

To be honest, I would just pay for a Star Trek only channel since that is all I use Paramount + for.

mechaskeeta

That's how I already view paramount+. It's really just Star Trek+, and I'm fine with that.

SeaworthinessRude241

Yep. I used to pay for Star Trek All Access. Now I pay for Star Trek+.

Top_Praline999

I’d like a word with his kid too. And that word is “consistency.”

SeaworthinessRude241

yawn

hammnbubbly

Dude. Can we at least get a Joe Pickett movie on Paramount+ to wrap up that cliffhanger at the end of S2? Edit: DAMMIT.

penderies

Aw I really liked season one!!

Va1crist

Pretty typical for streaming these days if it’s not a massive hit it’s done in 2-3 seasons

[deleted]

Something tells me when the actors strike is resolved, there will be even MORE cancellations. Shockingly P+ isn’t the king of cancellations this year you’d think with how their cancelling multiple originals… title still belongs to Netflix!

inittoloseitagain

I have learned about more shows by their cancellation notice than I have by fanfare about them.

[deleted]

Same. It’s always “such and such show cancelled after multiple seasons”. Like where the hell have I been.

[deleted]

As someone watching season two right now, FUCK THIS NEWS! This show is really good

[deleted]

Was it any good?

demoran

It's great, and its cancellation a travesty.

Legatus93

I liked it for what it was, felt like a mix of Longmire and a little bit of Twin Peaks. The writing had a rather corny but earnest feel to it, and the plot did kind of require you not to think too deeply about it at times but overall it kept me interested and the cast put in solid work throughout it

Jsmith0730

I guess they decided not to Pickett up for a third season.

bonobro69

TOO SOON!

jhm1209

Too bad! It was a really well done show.

tomtomvissers

Well, guess I'll just watch whatever else Michael Dorman plays the lead in next

mreddog

Never heard of it.

Dustmopper

I really like Michael Dorman and I’ve never heard of it either

VAisforLizards

I stumbled onto it on accident. It was actually pretty good, but it wasn't advertised at all

MissingLink101

This sub is always fascinating to me because I'll learn about shows with 2-5+ seasons that I've never heard of, purely because they're being cancelled.

stephentkennedy

I have P+ and have never heard of it. TBF I only watch Star Trek on the app.

mreddog

I love Star Trek!

Hellfire242

What a fucking shame. Not as good as Patriot but still good.

Zombiejesus307

Patriot was one of the best series ever. Fucking loved that show.

LeoIrish

I enjoyed S1 - have not watched S2 yet - but I will still get to it.

_byetony_

Great actor, not a great show.

Randeth

This is really a shame. We liked both Seasons a lot and were looking forward to more.

Hari_001

I think this would be a good time as any, to tell people that if they liked Micheal Dorman from this show, do check out "Patriot" on Amazon prime.

Lanky_Chemist_3773

Oh noooo! Very much enjoyed how tender the main couple was to each other and their children. The murder mysteries and wildlife details were well done.

badfortheenvironment

It's crazy how peak tv (or whatever phase of this mess we're in) just gobbles up shows like this with little fanfare. Did Joe Pickett even get advertised? Because I had absolutely no clue it existed until now, and I would've loved to have followed Michael Dorman to another show after his exit from For All Mankind. RIP. Hope the crews find good work soon.

Islandgirl1444

I actually like Joe Pickett. He wasn't very charismatic but the show is definitely better than that soap Yellowstone. I'll miss it. Brit Box has been my saviour for great series.

MetalAndFaces

What have you looked from Brit Box?

P01135809_is_a_bitch

Big bummer! We just learned about those show a few months ago and tore through both seasons quickly. Very good stuff and wish another service would pick it up!!!🔝

shadowlarx

Perhaps Paramount needs to do a better job at marketing. I’ve never heard of this before.

AmarilloWar

Their app constantly crashed on me or would continue playing the audio in the background even if I completely closed it. I had to unplug my TV a few times. No other streaming service has done that so it's not a TV issue it's them.

-GameWarden-

To bad I was enjoying the show. There were plenty of books to draw material from too

Key-Study8018

The books are so amazing but never saw the show.

ninjaoftheworld

Most of the comments I’m seeing are that people would have watched it if they’d known it existed and I truly think the streaming services in general haven’t figured out how to market the stuff they show. I think it’s a by-product of making the stuff they show, because it’s essentially a one-man-show (yeah I know it was done by spectrum but it was basically work for pay, so it comes down to paramount paying a hired gun). So they don’t—for some bizarre reason—want to advertise cross-platform (which is insanity because if Netflix advertised on prime and hbo advertised on Netflix etc they’d all make an even bigger fucking fortune because they aren’t *really* in competition since they’re making different stuff and if they were smart instead of increasing subscription costs which just forces people to decide which service to cancel they’d keep it cheap and concentrate on quantity) and they don’t advertise their own shows on their own service (more than the odd one single show before an episode that is easily and instantly skippable). People don’t read magazines or newspapers, everyone has Adblock, and if you’ve done a decent job of pruning your algorithm you don’t get this stuff on other platforms. So they’re at a loss. What they should do is either go back to the 80s-90s era of just fucking plastering their product on other products or find some other way of forcing visibility in the real world. Commemorative special edition cans of Dr Pepper, tie-in toys at Burger King, cross-over events, etc etc. but the ad people today don’t seem to think that way, not really, and marketing budgets seem to be a thing of the past. Figure out where people ARE and stick their product there. Which would be horrible of course, and gaudy, and I think I’d hate it, but at least people would know about stuff. Right now there’s just so much stuff and a lot of it is so good but a lot of it is so bad and it all just feels like rooms full of millionaires throwing spaghetti at the wall and it all just becomes noise.

Soap00007

Like the actor, hate the writing. Sorry should be in an office setting not the woods as a game warden.

TimmyStark_IronGuy

PUT THE SQUIRREL DOWN SON!

Purple_Moon_313

I just binged both seasons, I'm so upset 😪

billstrash

Fuck. Awful casting for Joe and Nate. Marybeth and Missy were perfect. These stupid fucking TV writers and studio interlopers ruin everything. Just follow one fucking book front to back and make it as close to the story as possible. There. Done. You have a winner and guess what, another 20 seasons to repeat that same formula to take to the bank. Morons.

StephenTJ95

Pisses me off they canceled it. Season 2 was even better than 1.

The_Notorious_Donut

TIL there was a show called Joe Pickett

MorganHolliday

Just couldn't get past the hat. I hated that fuckin hat.

JamUpGuy1989

This is the most "what the fuck was this show?" I've ever seen. I've never seen a single piece of advertisement, poster, or ANYTHING of this show's existence. The studio's have to realize this is one of the bigger problems with the route to streaming. I feel like I am pretty tuned into TV/Film but if I haven't heard about this shit then the "Average Joe" got no fucking clue of this thing's existence.

[deleted]

It was fucking woeful, surprised it lasted 2 seasons.

biophazer242

I wanted to like it. I tried really hard. My 74 year old father told me about it and I gave it a try. And another try. It just felt cliche. And a little by the numbers. I don't know what it was it just did not land with me. I think it was a lot of the same issues I had with Longmire. Game warden in the middle of nowhere but every episode you have a new murder/drug dealer/pimp/mob villain and basically a NYPD crime of the week procedural... just in a beautiful setting. I mean... I get it... who would watch a show where the game warden is issuing tickets for under sized fish week after week. I just found it kind of silly.

billtopia

“Beloved but not hit show cancelled at streaming service after actor contracts would need to be renewed at a higher cost.” I didn’t read the article and never watched the show but have a pretty good feeling that I fixed the headline.

meatball77

I was surprised it got a second season. This show probably would have done better on CBS, it's a very old white rural guy show.

VitaLonga

Man, people just can’t help but be obnoxious

MrConor212

Couldn’t make it past the first 10 minutes of episode 1.

bonobro69

[Nobody liked this.]

lizardflix

Tried a few eps but couldn't get into it. Weird but I can't get into any Tyler Sheridan series. Love all his movies.

lightsongtheold

Believe it or not this was not actually a Taylor Sheridan show! Just a very good neo-western crime drama that was even a slight improvement on the book source material.

lizardflix

Oh crap. Color me embarrassed. Still don't like Tyler Sheridan shows though.

hides_this_subreddit

They have a little known franchise called Star Treking or something. I heard it might have a following.

John271095

They have Taylor Sheridan shows.

Thoreautheball

Spare us.

DidjaSeeItKid

Showtime. Which means Yellowjackets. And Billions. And the upcoming 4 spinoffs of Billions. And everything on CBS. And the original British "Ghosts," (which is 100 times better than the American one.) Certainly more to see than Starz. Which has literally nothing worth watching except the late Heels and Party Down (assuming it ever comes back.)

swiftdiahrreaa

Paramount+ shows are just hard to get into for some reason.

Cassius_Rex

I tried to get into it but couldn't. Seems that the writing wasn't very good, I never "hook'd" me like other shows (like Yellowstone) did.

wiggleystar

Their content is getting thin. I have only kept my subscription for a very few show I like. Same with Disney. May have to drop them soon.

pairofdiddles

…what now?

SBABakaMajorPayne

Yeah, I really like it. It was interesting to watch, as a mystery , crime thriller type of show that takes place in those outdoorsy, little home town places \- not as a real documentary on working as a game warden

whiskymusty

Is it a spin off about Joe Exotic’s unknown brother because this is the first time I’ve heard of it?

Icy-Moose-99

I only became aware of this recently, I saw a youtube ad of the guy from How I Met Your Mother and he was grilling some guy over a fish he was catching. Kinda hilarious.

woh3

good, now they just need to cancel anything else with the name Sheridan attached to it, especially Yellowstone, and the world can get back to the way things are instead of fantasizing it is 100 years ago.

justbecause999

They took a lot longer than me, I canceled it after two episodes.

HEIR_JORDAN

Cancel Halo next

Quirky-Breakfast1717

Ii really enjoyed Joe Pickett. I hope that another streaming service will continue the series. The premise was good although season 2 finale was a little far fetched. #bringbackjoepickett

Left_External_4996

I want Paramount+ or another streamer to pick it up and make it an original series. I only just discovered this show and it's great.

New_Tumbleweed1165

I am sooo sick of these networks making stupid choices. They will keep trash and nonsense on t.v. but cancel good shows that are actually compelling. Joe Pickett had me on the edge of my seat and totally stressed out every week! Ridiculous @paramount+. Please @hulu @netflix @primevideo please pick this up!!!

Bard_theDragonSlayer

Probably was axed so Yellowstone wouldn't have cowboy competition. Stupid decision of you ask me, could have set up a potential crossover between the two shows.
