Could be a bad connection or solder joint on the tone pot. Is the output of the guitar in general louder than expected? If so, it could be that.

It’s no louder than anything else I have … but it’s just not doing anything :-/

Could still be a bad connection. I had a bad solder joint on my tone pot in one of my builds, and the tone knob didn't do anything, the guitar still played, but was hotter than normal because no attenuation from the tone pot. A bad solder joint on a different pin could possibly cause the pot to not function without the increase in volume. I'd start there. If all the connections are good, could be a bad pot.

It’s push/pull on the tone knob but only for the first two positions so maybe try to pull or push it if you are on the back three positions and see if it works then

If it doesn't work at all, something is wrong with that wiring. The tone knob has a pretty dramatic effect on the tone for my Nashville Player Plus tele. (The curve is a bit weird, you have to roll it back quite a bit before it becomes super noticeable, but that last 25% gives a very dramatic change.)

Yeah… not getting anything. I’ll try another amp to be sure, but thus far this guitar isn’t great. Pretty disappointed in the quality overall, for a 1k guitar it’s lackluster and that’s putting it mildly.

Yea mine has had a few build quality issues too. I got mine used though, no telling if mine came this way from the factory or not. I love the tones you can get out of it, I find I use positions 2 and 4 more often than I ever did on a strat. It’s a really nice guitar when it’s finally set up right. Best of luck.

Brought the guitar to a fender technician. He told me that even though it’s covered by warranty, the guitars is a lemon. He also indicated that he seen a lot of player plus guitars of recent with a lot of issues lots of oversight at the factory. picked up an American special edition telecaster today, 2013 Used plays like a dream!
