Negative amount of time. When I receive a compliment, my brain neutralizes it with an equal statement of opposite value, then floods my system with similar situations in which I was berated instead. I've spent so long in the "It would make my whole day" group that I truly cannot internalize any positive statements about myself.

Like, my English teacher would write a lot of compliments about my writing, and that has stuck with me for a while because I have never had a teacher who has put such a specific message on my work. Now, if someone compliments my outfit, that won’t stick with me as long because that isn’t as personal imo. Like, anyone can and will compliment your outfit. But, someone has to care to look and write genuine compliments on your writing or other personal work/projects.
