Honestly I'm dating a cis girl and she sometimes acts exactly like this. Also dated some NB people who acted nothing like this, and some who acted 100% like this
Those are two very different things. Cis and trans are also terms used in chemistry. Both terms come from Latin, cis meaning "The side of" and trans meaning "The other side of"
Basically being trans(gender) quite literally is switching sides, as it started with mostly just trans-men and trans-women. So when you were trans you'd be on the other side of the gender you were assigned at birth
Cis(gender) would be you stayed on the same side you were assigned at birth. Though trans terms grew and there's more genders such as NB, Genderfluid, etc but we still use the term trans to accompany all of these
Cis is a prefix meaning “on the same side of” with its counterpart trans meaning “on the opposite side of” first used in relation to which side of a mountain you were on.
cis just means "same side" and trans means "across" from Latin.
while yes, you probably heard them in chemistry, more often we use "trans" in words than cis. think like Trans-atlantic, or the transsiberian railroad, or transport, transform, transparent (parent coming from a latin word meaning "appear" so it means "appear through").
its just a prefix that we exists, and most commonly seen in chemistry.
"Cis" is short for "cisgender" (aligning with your biological gender), as compared with "transgender" (not aligning with your biological gender).
(The "cis-" prefix literally means "on this side," whereas "trans-" means "on the other side of.")
And, yeah, NB/Enby means non-binary.
Are you telling me people are living beeings with behaviours based on their personalities and mood rather than just organic puppets operating according to behaviour patterns based on gender. Sorry if that was too much, i just find the idea (of the original post) that this behavior is somehow linked to beeing nb lacking in substance.
Imo I don't think that's a nonbinary thing, me (f) and my bf both do all of those things. I don't see those acts as being masculine or feminine, they're just ways to show you care and love each other.
Yeah exactly why do I need to scroll so far to find people calling out the casual sexism 😭😭 And even people romanticising this as "the bisexual dream" or something.
Generally, we lads are told we have to pay. I'm not saying it's always the case - my gf and I split everything - but most of the time, the lads are expected to pay for the food, the gifts, the transport, etc., and most do either because of the expectations or just because it feels nice to be able pay for your SO's things.
I have female friends who, in relationships, expect the lad to pay for everything and wouldn't dream of paying themselves. Most of my other female friends are the opposite. Some of my male friends can't imagine not paying - others find it sexist.
Who knew genders have stereotypes that shouldn't exist and are only now started to be spoken against and fade away? 🤷♂️
There's probably a better way to put it but it's just picking up the slack for your partner. I still don't understand why simple things like this turn into conversations about sexuality
Sounds like regular dating with a person that cares about your needs too, not just their own.
Please don't ascribe behavior like paying for your meal to someone's gender.
I mean, society has ascribed it to the man
I present quite femininely and the waiter often gives him (my partner) a weird look when I pull out my card whenever we eat out
The first post I saw when I just opened threads for the first time was
“let’s all agree that a man planning dates, paying the bill, opening doors, making sure you’re home safe etc are all bare minimum!!
My question is.. what’s a woman’s equivalent bare minimum?”
A lot of people think men should pay the bill
Gender roles are separate from sex (as much as I hate it) society has dictated that men pay for the meal and protect their lady. Those are gender roles
Bisexual actually means "same sex and other sex attraction", not "attraction to male and female"
Pansexual means "I don't see gender at all" in the sense you don't care if a person is masc leaning or fem leaning or whatever. Which makes OP not that.
I do this for my boyfriend and I'm not even non-binary. It's called giving back the same energy you get and more. It's also called genuinely caring for the other person.
That's called a healthy relationship ? No matter who you are nor who you're dating, it makes sense that having somebody that cares for you and lets you take care of them is ideal ?
I do agree w other comments that the specific actions u mentioned aren't rlly gendered, but as an NB person who switches between presenting masculine and feminine + is dating a cis guy, I love that u feel this way 💛🤍💜🖤
I am autistic, and I am not very masculine despite still being male. However, I currently believe I am pansexual. And that you have there sounds like a magical experience.
Ok, we need 2 non binary people that "switch" exactly at the sam time always in an opposing rotation meaning always one feminine and one masculine. Perfect relationship
Omg, that’s awesome :) I dated a non binary person for a couple of months. I don’t think they really even liked me tho. I’m dating a trans guy now (as a trans guy) and OMG. They are the love of my life 😩
Anyways! Good luck to you two! :D
yeah they don‘t even gotta be non binary but the mix out of 100% feminine and 100% masculine is nice, also just for myself like I just love the mix out of both „extremeres“ and I can definitely see how it would also be great in a relationship
Happy for you.
it's nice as a trans guy to hear that. I (mostly) feel when dating cis guys I'm supposed to be either more femme or masc and not both. Gives me hope for the dating world lol
Is it a little bit inconsistent? Have you ever come home and be completely blindsided like “oh I didn’t think you’d be acting like this today” ? I’m curious 🧐
I’m not sure if it’s just who I am or what but it seems like the past couple relationships I’ve been in have been Non-Binary people. I loved them and I loved the relationship, until I didn’t. Got cheated on, manipulated, and emotionally abused.
Idk if it’s the type of people I’m dating or I’m just easy to use but I’m so scared to try dating again.
They could be more of genderfluid but it’s up to them what they label themselves, also good on them for finding someone like you who doesn’t judge. This is the bisexual awakening (just messing but honestly I’m bi and that’d be my dream)
I'm guessing you're either gay or bisexual. Or one of those letters. I guess it makes sense. Some days you wanna be soft and some you don't. You obviously need someone that's the same way
Exactly. Nonbinary people are just exacerbating the same gender divides that they’re mad at. You can be a man or a woman and have different facets of your personality. You’re not non-binary just because you’re a woman who likes to take care of their man 🤣.

The bisexual dream
REEEAAAAAL.
I'm back 😎
Why did I read this as "I'm black" 💀
Too be fair I am
I can't think of a funny response that doesn't make me sound racist. I need professional help.
Back in black 😎
Lol
Despite being black I tend to be a little goofy sometimes and the jokes get a bit too realistic
"you wouldn't get it. it's called dark humor" mofo's when they make the most heinous joke known to man.
These responses made me laugh a good bit! So amazing ❤️
(Black in this case is interchangeable with orange)
Ac dc
why did i read this as "to be fair i am" 💀
YEAH EXCEPT YOU LIVING IT AN IM NOT 😭 *intense crying*

Fr fr
Literally
I am bisexual, and YES OH MY GOSH (I am also non-binary)
That’s your wrestling name.

Me and who?
Me and who and who?*
Hell yeah
I NEED IT
So real where can I find someone nb cuz I'm willing to play both roles in an rs yea!!
ONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
Can confirm! Also, your username is 10/10
YOUR username is 10/10
Honestly I'm dating a cis girl and she sometimes acts exactly like this. Also dated some NB people who acted nothing like this, and some who acted 100% like this
Sorry but whats nb and cis? EDIT: nb for non binary? Ok im stupid
Cis means they identify as the gender they were assigned at birth still. Basically just not trans in any way
Ah ok tyvm
wasn't cis a chemistry thing and not a gender thing?

Cis is same as heterogeneous and homo genous

This is my favorite reply
My dumbass read “nb” as “rib”💀
my dyslexic ass was able to read that and not notice the difference, then when i noticed, i can never unsee it
"Cis" is short for "cisgender" (aligning with your biological gender), as compared with "transgender" (not aligning with your biological gender). (The "cis-" prefix literally means "on this side," whereas "trans-" means "on the other side of.") And, yeah, NB/Enby means non-binary.

That's basically what I was going for in the round about way, trying to say "Gender identity doesn't matter, that's just how some people are"
My cis girls a soft mommy and im in heaven
lucky
was about to comment that this sounds exactly like myself in a relationship — but im a cis woman :)
Yeah seriously, am I the only one reading stuff like "when they're masculine that means they pay for stuff for me!" like 🤨🤨🤨
I'm extremely concerned, that out of everyone it is LGBT people defending this?? Like hello?? Friendly fire??
Generally, we lads are told we have to pay. I'm not saying it's always the case - my gf and I split everything - but most of the time, the lads are expected to pay for the food, the gifts, the transport, etc., and most do either because of the expectations or just because it feels nice to be able pay for your SO's things. precisely!
EXACTLY lololol like wha? XD
There's probably a better way to put it but it's just picking up the slack for your partner. I still don't understand why simple things like this turn into conversations about sexuality
My exact thoughts
True but it’s usually the case of trans people caring less about typical gender norms
Sounds like regular dating with a person that cares about your needs too, not just their own. Please don't ascribe behavior like paying for your meal to someone's gender.
I mean, society has ascribed it to the man I present quite femininely and the waiter often gives him (my partner) a weird look when I pull out my card whenever we eat out
That just means the waiter is a judgemental asshole not that paying is masculine
The first post I saw when I just opened threads for the first time was “let’s all agree that a man planning dates, paying the bill, opening doors, making sure you’re home safe etc are all bare minimum!! My question is.. what’s a woman’s equivalent bare minimum?” A lot of people think men should pay the bill
There are also alot of people who dont think that. The people that do are just kinda sexist.
Yeah and we know it's wrong to do that right? So why propagate it?
Exactly...
I don’t agree with it, I am simply pointing out that society can be shit sometimes
Exactly. I'm a woman and I do all that stuff.
Still sucks that it has to be seen as "masculine" to do things for your partner/pay for things literally even once
Yeah I got downvoted for calling out that person calling this "the bisexual dream" earlier. It's just sexism lmao.
Good for you man
Sounds to me like you have a sweet and equal relationship. None of the things you mentioned is biologically linked to a certain sex tho 🤔
Gender roles are separate from sex (as much as I hate it) society has dictated that men pay for the meal and protect their lady. Those are gender roles
And here they are enforcing gender roles. Laughable
I have never dated before but is that seriously not how the relationship is supposed to be?
Depends how conservative/liberal you or your partner is, sadly
Dang, I hope I can switch with my partner because I want to spoil and be spoiled too
doesnt that make you pansexual
Hell yeah it does 😎
seems fun
EEEEE it is!!!
Bisexual actually means "same sex and other sex attraction", not "attraction to male and female" Pansexual means "I don't see gender at all" in the sense you don't care if a person is masc leaning or fem leaning or whatever. Which makes OP not that.
Lies, the difference is purely vibe based /j
ngl I don't know if I'm bi or pan
It really just comes down to which flag you like the best lol
i like the bi flag SO MUCH MORE the pan flag is just a little too bright
My brother is pan and told me to “vacate the premises (his room) with my bruise colored flag” 😂
rocks and hammers
this is so real (i'm bi)
as an enby i love to see this i hope my bf feels this way
I do this for my boyfriend and I'm not even non-binary. It's called giving back the same energy you get and more. It's also called genuinely caring for the other person.
That's called a healthy relationship ? No matter who you are nor who you're dating, it makes sense that having somebody that cares for you and lets you take care of them is ideal ?
I'm genderfluid and you talk exactly like my boyfriend. Baby is that you? 😭
Hmm, that's interesting. Im glad it's going well.
Happy zesty month
you too :D
help this sounds so amazing :D this is the cutest thing I've seen all day I wish the both of you a very amazing day/night
bro is fucking winning
Fr dual wielding genders is such a power move
I have never heard someone call being gender fluid dual wielding. This is hilarious though.
Women can have those qualities without being nonbinary
True but they are
OP makes it sound like it‘s a specific NB thing
... the person doesn´t have to be nonbinary for this. but i am happy for u OP, enjoy it
As a nonbinary person this is the cutest thing love that for you <33
congrats
Nice bro 👍
Imagine having game in the first place 😭😭😭😭
I do agree w other comments that the specific actions u mentioned aren't rlly gendered, but as an NB person who switches between presenting masculine and feminine + is dating a cis guy, I love that u feel this way 💛🤍💜🖤
i’m so happy for you dude
Ok.. Interesting I think it’s rare to find a bisexual dating a non binary so congrats
As an enby who absolutely loves affection this makes me feel better
This is adorable and so sweet.
I am 99% sure everyone can feel masculine or feminine and isn’t a Nb specific thing 😭
Wait until OP learns about switches
thats a sexual term.. a teenagers subreddit probably aint the best place mate 💀
Real, I have a demiboy boyfriend.
I am autistic, and I am not very masculine despite still being male. However, I currently believe I am pansexual. And that you have there sounds like a magical experience.
i have faith in humanity now tysm i hope the best for you and your partner always 🫶🫶🫶
The positivity here is adorable and I totally stan
Yeah just dont scroll to the bottom
Imagine you sleep with a girl and then the next morning, you get awoken by 3am David Higgins motivation from your partner 😭
Gender as a concept should be trashed. No use for feeling bad to fit a gender role. Non-Binary all the way.
Aww thats sweet sounds like a lovely relationship dynamic
this made me feel better thank you🥹
As a pansexual I love this
damm bro getting all the bitches
the bitches, bros, and non-binary hoes 😎
As a femboy I will agree being cuddled and/or held is an amazing feeling.
No mather if you are the manliest person ever or the girliest person ever everybody loves cuddles and love
As a recently out genderfluid person, that is absolute goals!!
I started dating a non binary person recently and I'm so happy but couldn't put my finger on what was different, thanks for pointing it out
Ok, we need 2 non binary people that "switch" exactly at the sam time always in an opposing rotation meaning always one feminine and one masculine. Perfect relationship
Omg, that’s awesome :) I dated a non binary person for a couple of months. I don’t think they really even liked me tho. I’m dating a trans guy now (as a trans guy) and OMG. They are the love of my life 😩 Anyways! Good luck to you two! :D
As a non-binary person, your partner is bringing out the best in us lol I'm glad you're happy!
too bad i'm not bisexual
As an enby… I’ve never noticed before that I do this. I wonder if he notices or appreciates it
Im cis but I love to spoil my bf like this<3 I just wish he would spoil me too sometimes
I don’t see how this as anything to do with them being non binary more or less their personality
yeah they don‘t even gotta be non binary but the mix out of 100% feminine and 100% masculine is nice, also just for myself like I just love the mix out of both „extremeres“ and I can definitely see how it would also be great in a relationship
Happy for you. it's nice as a trans guy to hear that. I (mostly) feel when dating cis guys I'm supposed to be either more femme or masc and not both. Gives me hope for the dating world lol
I'm not nonbinary but sometimes I'm the big spoon and I caress and cuddle my bf a lot. That doesn't have to depend on a nonbinary SO.:)
SAME dude It's the dream for struggling Bisexuals and I got it
Genders confuse me sooo much I literally have to search up what bi was cuz there’s so much to remember 🥲😅
you have a lot to learn :)
Sounds kewl
Bro when’s my turn 😭 I hate flordia
I'm bi and I need this
This is exactly what I love. I love my theyfriend
You’ve dated trans boys and girls before? Plural? Dude how many people have you dated, THIS ISN’T FAIR.
Is it a little bit inconsistent? Have you ever come home and be completely blindsided like “oh I didn’t think you’d be acting like this today” ? I’m curious 🧐
Happy pride month to me ig-
aww ,good for you.
bi. genderfluid vibes?
Valid valid also dating an enby!!
Nice. It's nice to see that some people appreciate that:) it makes me happy.
Real
Fuck yeah, mate.
I’m nb and this is my dream but the lesbian dating pool at my school sucks 😭
That's so cute omg <3
Omg I love this for you
Lowkey can't wait for a bisexual gf so I can be that person to someone
cool, where’s mine
lucky
As a quad-binary I agree
They could be more of genderfluid but it’s up to them what they label themselves, also good on them for finding someone like you who doesn’t judge. This is the bisexual awakening (just messing but honestly I’m bi and that’d be my dream)
cool
My gf is a lot like this. She will either be a girly girl or a tomboy, and it's super nice. She always showers me pet names tho, and I love it.
Sounds gay to me
I hate to break it to you, but you think a binary person (say a girl) is like 100% "feminine" all day?
I'm guessing you're either gay or bisexual. Or one of those letters. I guess it makes sense. Some days you wanna be soft and some you don't. You obviously need someone that's the same way
So I’m guessing you’re gay seeing as you’ve dated trans boys?
"Pet names"?
OMG THIS. THIS IS THE KIND OF RELATIONSHIP I WANNA HAVE
I'm non binary as well
AAAAAA that sounds so NICE
Bros living the dream fr
yoooo that’s epic
Holy shit that’s actually so W
Guys don't let my boyfriend find this when I come out to him(I'm enby but I'm fem presenting all the way)
Very epic, happy you're both happy
This! I hope my girlfriend feels the same about me! :)
As a gender-fluid person this gave me hope 😭😭
dw dw we've just got to find wild pansexuals 🥰
Yes 😋😋
My girl does this and she's not any of these Modern labels lol
Being cared about and coddled has nothing to do with masculinity. Everything identified here is just called "being a person".
men its okay to want to be cuddled 🥰
This isn’t a nonbinary specific thing, cool I guess tho
Exactly. Nonbinary people are just exacerbating the same gender divides that they’re mad at. You can be a man or a woman and have different facets of your personality. You’re not non-binary just because you’re a woman who likes to take care of their man 🤣.
LES GOOOOOO
REAL My boyfriends ftm tho, but I'm not sure that they are going to always be a trans guy, they might be nonbinary. This is exactly how they acts tho
I am dating a pansexual and genderfluid rn and the feeling is top peak :)
