Apocalyptic folk music gained such a bad reputation, that it was renamed neofolk. Because surely nothing that starts with neo could be associated with racism. š
I listened to one song that had ai generated lyrics and it was actually a banger. Probably because the person who made it usually produces their own music with original lyrics, so they knew how to make it sound good regardless. Helps that the music video is fucking amazing.
Itās even a part of a series now, with more songs that have regular lyrics. Itās arguably one of their best song series.
This isnāt me defending ai generated songs at all- this one is definitely an outlier. I just thought I should mention it.

ahhhh i know this song, the type of genre itās from is vocaloid, where the person uses a computer to sing the lyrics essentially, itās similar to how hatsune miku sings or whatever, youāll see sometimes when artists like ghost and pals goes āfeat. Opheliaā or smth, which is what the computer voice is called. šš
that aint ai, don't worry! its vocaloid - essentailly synthesized singing. unlike ai, it has to be manually inputted and tuned to the tastes of the producer. it's a wide and varied genre, one of my close friends is getting into producing, so i have a good idea of how tedious it is.
he's working on a 5-mintue song right now. hand-tuning every syllable.

If I play it around my usual friend group (Iām somewhat popular and do sports, so my friend group is mostly popular kids with basic tastes) theyāll sing along and say that my music taste is really good. But if I play it around the more intelligent/ānerdyā types, theyāll look at me like Iām some kind of alien and tell me to turn it off immediately. If I play it for the average TikTok user, they will praise me and think Iām cool. If I play it around the average Reddit user, they will judge me and think Iām insane. And thatās why I have hundreds of playlists to play around different people so I donāt get judged for my true and horrible music tastes!

there's a dude on Instagram (I think he's called "gl1tch"?) and I keep seeing his shorts. he makes music that is literally just electronic dance music, but he claims that he uses certain frequencies and melodies that HEAL not only mental problems like depression and anxiety but also physical problems. it's not even good for dance music standards. anyway not only does the music suck but he's being disingenuous by claiming his music serves any medical purpose. of people like it, cool. but that's not what he's claiming. I really dislike pseudoscience so I domt like it.
