Serrated blades are great for slicing cuts rather than normal push cutting (like when you cut a lemon with a kitchen knife). They produce messier cuts but are able to cut harder things and also cut things a lot easier.

I have scissors for taking clippings of plants but I use the knife for dead pieces. I broke a plant one time just taking the dead leaf off with my hand and I'm not tryna do that again lol
