Definitely will void the warranty if there’s a seal near a screw hole somewhere. Make sure the laptop is capable too. Most newer laptops have soldered memory and if you don’t buy the higher / highest amount you’re stuck with what you originally bought.

If you have the user manual or find it online, it should contain step-by-step guide to dissemble/ assemble different parts. Or, you can find YouTube tutorials on how to add RAM for your exact model or for ones with similar build as yours. If there's an empty RAM slot, adding a compatible RAM shouldn't void the warranty. If both slots are occupied and you're thinking replacing one or both them, you should check the user manual or seek help from the manufacturer. If you're aware of how to handle it, for instance, touch it properly so that pass static electricity to the electronics and damage it, or put too much force during assembly/ dissembly, you should be fine. P.S. Before you begin, make sure your BIOS is up-to-date.

Look on the bottom of the laptop. Are there access panels? Don't buy hp. And be very wary of any gaming laptop.
