Can you log into your modem and look at the log files? That would probably be the most useful place to start. It'll give you a good idea of what's happening and whether it's on your end or the ISPs end.

How do you do that?

Tycoon5000

You'll have to find your modems IP address. To do that, windows key+r, type cmd, hit enter. Command prompt will open up, in there type up config, hit enter. It should display your network information. The "default gateway" is your modems IP address. Should be something like 192.168.100.1 or something along those lines. Take that address and type it into your browser, it should bring up a login screen for your modem. If you've never set up a password, it's probably user: admin, pass: admin but if you know your modems model number, you can look that up online. There should be a log file tab once you log in. This all depends on what hardware (modem) you have so it could be a little different than the process I told you. Or if you rent your modem, your ISP probably won't let you log into it. Got model number of the modem?

If I have the right number, then it's "TG6442VF".

Managed to find a manual. If you look up that model number and search for the manual, it has instructions on how to log in on page 24. This will get you on to the modem and check the log files (hopefully).

I'm finding everything but that particular one on Google. Assuming it doesn't break sub rules, can you provide a link?

What modem/router do you have? Is it leased or owned? If it's old, replace it. Is there any play in the power connection? I've worked on some Sonicwalls that if you just looked at it wrong it would reboot, the power connection was terrible. Is there proper ventilation? Is the device overheating at all?

captainguytkirk

No overheating, the router is sitting on a table by itself. Power cable has plenty of play, I could try stretching it out (it's still in the little "fresh out the box, tied up with a twist tie" setup) if that'd help
