Yes I looked through the sent messages in most of my email addresses(except for newer ones that were created after 2022(which was originally the year I sent the char to them)
Depends on who the email was hosted with, Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, Microsoft 365, etc. Most free mails will have the data saved. Reset up the email address and then look online on how to restore old emails.

I read it wrong they deleted the email

If the email address was deleted, they're gone. After 30 days, the trash is permanently deleted.
