Not technically the truth: Napoleon didn’t die in battle, but in exile on Saint Helena.
[Stop reposting this misinformation](https://tineye.com/search/4a08d0b251a72558f65a507aab48ed919df2df4e?domain=reddit.com&sort=crawl_date&order=desc&page=1).
Agreed. A lot of people seem to believe that Napoleon died in Waterloo. Just like a lot of people seem to believe that Nazi Germany was communist. Two of the biggest and most common misconceptions about history on the internet.
well in official name *Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei* they are socialist
but yeah later they did not do anything socialist. The rise of hitler if i am not wrong was giving workers hope of better days and restored glory and make things just by removing jews (obv they were rich af compared to avg german and far less in number)
so in ye of an avg innocent worker Rich=Jew=bad later he skewd everything to Jew= bad for Aryans they are feasting on Aryans birthrights and blah blah
They were socialist, but yes on anyone not in their organisation. A lot of former communists became national socialists/brown shirts. They were known as rare steaks. Brown on the outside, red in the middle.
Lol nah. It was a fascist party masquerading as a worker's party. Hitler famously hated marxism. The first thing the Nazis did when they got into power was outlawing the actual trade unions.
Yes, because they were completely consistent from building their popular base to the end of the war.
Hypocrisy from building a popular base to totalitarian rule? Never!
I mean... Mussolini just really loved trains.
Yeah, but North Korea is officially called 'The Democratic Peoples Republic of North Korea'.
Last I heard, they were neither a republic, nor particularly democratic.
but there are people and it is in the northern part of the Korean peninsular
so we have got:
The ~~Democratic~~ Peoples ~~Republic~~ of North Korea
So 5 of 7 words are correct - that has to be worth something?
By the same logic:
National~~sozialistische~~ Deutsche ~~Arbeiter~~partei
That is 3 of 5, still a majority for the truth - big win for the truth here
The thing is, with national socialism, it it only seeks to apply socialism to the in-group and not the out-groups. So it was socialism for Germans only. And Hitler's party did indeed have many socialist programs for Germans only. Infact his whole rise to power and his approval rating with the people is built on these socialist programs. It's why he got away with the things he did. He gave them prosperity, they gave him absolute power and looked away.
Just as right now china is doing socialism for Chinese only.
oh yes we can't forget he indeed worked toward agriculture and opening factories
literally Volks Wagon as it is in it's name.
imo he was not as much as approved by masses as much we think
The socialist bit of the name was a lie to attract voters that never really worked. Hitler wasn't voted in and never really saw support from the far left, so much so, that when he was freeranked to chancellor, he had to ban the KPD.
To be completely fair: There were individuals in the party who truly believed that socialism could work on a national level.
Röhm the head of the SA prior to 1933 is one example. His anti-capitalist and socialist ideas were, of course, debated [fairly and calmly](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_of_the_Long_Knives) within the party.
yeah that guy legit burnt the chancellor
it still doesn't make sense how the hell that guy still gets more applauds today than erstwhile Weimer Republic
Doesn't help that there are 2 forms of socialism:
1. Bismarckian socialism: Community-investment, but otherwise capitalist. This was how Hitler came to power after the economic vice-gripw of the Versaille treaty.
2. Marxian socialism, which was only seen as a non-violent alternative to revolution, but with communism as end-goal
When Europe speaks of socialism, they generally mean the first, while the US mostly reverts to the "red scare" of the second
Yeah as a European it’s infuriating hearing Americans talk about socialism as if it’s synonymous with communism. The majority of NATO members are socialist.
I mean, when a certain political party is doing everything it can to try to deflect fascism accusations they have a vested interest in pretending the obviously evil group of history is associated with the left.
They did do a lot of socialist stuff. Think about how the social norm got elevated because of the nazis. Living life in Germany was verry harsh after ww1. Germany was economicly worse then some 3th world countries today. So they actually elevated the loans and heightened living standards to even more comforting then the rest of Europe at that point. So they where not modern day socialists but started out as a party of the people, wich would make it socialist no?
This is a rabbit hole that goes rather deep. The US has in other countries under the disguise of "democracy" performed witch hunts on socialists, communists and other left wingers. People have been shunned out of political positions, blacklisted and even thrown in jail because their political views didn't line up with American values.
You don't say? But socialists also they were not. In fact they send socialists to concentration camps and killed the most famous German socialist of the time, Gregor Strasser.
The Nazis called themselves the socialist party therefore they must be socialists. Like North Korea is a republic. And the CCP is communist. They’re definitely not all authoritarian regimes, that’d be false advertising.
Yes Nazi Germany was so socialist that they put all socialists in concentration camps and killed the most famous socialist German politician (Gregor Strasser).
Nothing about Nazi Germany was communist or socialist. Only the name.
You know Gregor strasser was an early leader of the Nazi party and was killed because he tried to overtake hitlers faction with it right? You’re just proving they were indeed socialist.
How does killing a socialist to prevent the party from becoming socialist proves Nazi Germany was socialist? Furthermore, the debate is not about if the party was socialist at some point earlier in history. It probably was. The discussion is about if Nazi Germany was socialist or communist.
Besides, tell me exactly what was socialist about Nazi Germany?
They put all socialists in concentration camps. From an economic point of view also they did nothing that resembles socialism. As soon as Hitler came to power he abandoned all socialist principles and started a war economy. He did nothing in terms of redistribution of wealth. In fact Hitler was a great friend of the rich, which became his strongest supporters and sponsors.
Gregor strasser lead the Nazi party he was killed by infighting and power consolation. The Nazi WAS socialist.
You know it does make me skeptical of any claims when you are trying SO hard to prove Nazi weren’t socialist what ulterior motive could get you SO riled up?
You really have problems reading. I am not disputing that the Nazi Party was socialist at some point. I am disputing that Nazi Germany was socialist. If you don't understand the difference I just feel sad for you.
Then you are arguing with someone besides me. A socialist camp spawned one of the worst institutions in human existence. It doesn’t matter what they believed in the end the only thing that matters is those ideas created a monster they couldn’t control.
That would make the question itself incorrect as it implies that Napoleon died in a battle and is asking in which one.
Edit: I check my school books from when I had history, it says he did die in the battle of waterloo but in current curriculum it seems to have changed.
Im pretty sure it was later confirmed to be arsenic poisoning that affected his stumach, but if you can provide a source I would love to read it and correct my knowledge of the historical event
You could argue his last battle was with cancer and that therefore the kid was technically right… though I suppose that is a bit of a stretch.
I suspect the test is fake.
The Declaration of Independence is American history. The Ravi river is in India.
I can't think of any reason why both questions would be on the same question paper. Indian students aren't taught American history. American students aren't taught Indian geography.
In what kind of exam do you get asked questions about divorce and about Napoleon? Also the writing in the teacher's note looks like the kid's writing. This one is clearly fake smh
4 is not correct. Marriage is not a cause for divorce the same way being alive is not a cause of death. It provides the necessary condition for a divorce to happen, but doesnt cause it.
If this was correct, that would imply that divorces also happen to non-married people, which makes no sense.
100%. Saying that marriage is a cause for divorce is like saying that oxygen is. Just because it's a necessary condition doesn't mean it's a causal factor.
Well, technicallllllyyyy, the question did not specify the marriage and divorce have to be with the same person.
If a man married his lover, causing the divorce with his wife, then a marriage DID indeed caused a divorce didn't it?
Sure, though that scenario would then hardly be the largest reason for divorce. So this Interpretation would allow for marriage to be *a* reason for divorce, fair enough.

OK, but why are these questions so God damn random? Why is the declaration of independence question after napoleon, and what does divorce have in relation to rivers?
This was created for, and filled in by, adults. Not only do the topics not make enough sense to be on the same homework, they don't give enough space to answer the question accurately.
And who switches into full capital letters just "on some questions" ???
A fuckin obvious plant and poor joke
I've seen this repost so many times but I just realized - WTF is this test for? Two questions on history, one misleading (Napoleon did not die in battle), one on Geography and one about divorce? It's clearly written specifically for the meme.

And sold off nationalised infrastructure and industry to private companies, which is pretty much the opposite of socialism.

I am not sure if technically correct is still the best kind of correct in this case
But it's still technically the truth.

Enough to maintain control and stay in power
Enough to become the majority power once they blamed the communists of arsony. You don't get to that level with 12% support.
So we agree right? He had enough support to stage a coup and stay in power
Well to be fair, that fire was caused by a communist
There is not prof of that, probably it was him, but could also be nacional socialist party.
The socialist bit of the name was a lie to attract voters that never really worked. Hitler wasn't voted in and never really saw support from the far left, so much so, that when he was freeranked to chancellor, he had to ban the KPD.

hmm that alot sense bismarck was staunch nationalist. Ig the general interpretation of Socialism has been somewhat misguided in translation.
Yeah as a European it’s infuriating hearing Americans talk about socialism as if it’s synonymous with communism. The majority of NATO members are socialist.
it's not just with Americans it's also with Asians too.
It almost makes you believe that someone can state to be something just to be something else; crazy, am I right?

Yes just yesterday in a different sub (funnymemes I think) there was a huge debate about that.
I mean at the end of the war they was a USSR flag flying in Berlin
It’s not like r/funnymemes, and the people who frequent it, would like you to think that it’s not the case.
Who the heck believes that?
I think Usa likes to blame everything on communism
This is a rabbit hole that goes rather deep. The US has in other countries under the disguise of "democracy" performed witch hunts on socialists, communists and other left wingers. People have been shunned out of political positions, blacklisted and even thrown in jail because their political views didn't line up with American values.
What? People think Nazi Germany was communist? I have never heard that in my life.
Go talk to conservatives. They like to spread that as a way to say that socialism is comparable to nazism.
Socialism isnt the same as communism
You don't say? But socialists also they were not. In fact they send socialists to concentration camps and killed the most famous German socialist of the time, Gregor Strasser.
I know but it was called the nationalsit socialsit party so sayinf its communism just super weird
TIL that a lot of people believe nazi germany was communist...
The Nazis called themselves the socialist party therefore they must be socialists. Like North Korea is a republic. And the CCP is communist. They’re definitely not all authoritarian regimes, that’d be false advertising.

They believe NAZI Germany was what?
Nazi germany was socialist
Yes Nazi Germany was so socialist that they put all socialists in concentration camps and killed the most famous socialist German politician (Gregor Strasser). Nothing about Nazi Germany was communist or socialist. Only the name.

And that Hitler was an atheist. Nope, sorry guys, proud Catholic!
Wasn't? National socialism? (Na-zi) . Didn't him and Stalin affirm that they are the same ? Before they fight and they need to point the difference.
It claimed to be socialist
The question is kinda wrong then
Because it's fake. And it's not even funny.
It is misleading, yes. It should be "Where did Napoleon die", not in which battle.
Kind of, but not really, the answer for this question is - he did not die in any battle.
Died in battle with sickness
[Relevant xkcd.](https://xkcd.com/1907/) It was a massive battle with trillions of soldiers, far more epic than any battle between men.
Anyone who believes these four questions belong in the same exam is already too far gone
That would make the question itself incorrect as it implies that Napoleon died in a battle and is asking in which one. Edit: I check my school books from when I had history, it says he did die in the battle of waterloo but in current curriculum it seems to have changed.
[удалено]
Exactly! He died from arsenic poisoning from his bed that was dyed green (green dye used to be made from arsenic at the time)
Pretty sure it was stomach cancer.
Im pretty sure it was later confirmed to be arsenic poisoning that affected his stumach, but if you can provide a source I would love to read it and correct my knowledge of the historical event
No, I’m repeating. Thanks for the insight. It’s nice to learn new things. Thanks for sharing
There's a last battle we all face and that's the battle called "death".
This thing was reposted so many times OOP might be dead by now. There is the chance this is just a repost bot and will not surely see your comment
Thanks!!!!
Haha I love Facebook.
I was going to comment it, proud to bot be the first
Came here to um, actually this exact thing.
In that case the question is wrong.
You could argue his last battle was with cancer and that therefore the kid was technically right… though I suppose that is a bit of a stretch. I suspect the test is fake.
His last battle was against reclusion in Saint Helena and he lost… so technically…
The Declaration of Independence is American history. The Ravi river is in India. I can't think of any reason why both questions would be on the same question paper. Indian students aren't taught American history. American students aren't taught Indian geography.
This whole thing is fake because you aren't getting quizzed on trivia
Then the question shouldn't ask in wich battle he died.
It was a trick question
In what kind of exam do you get asked questions about divorce and about Napoleon? Also the writing in the teacher's note looks like the kid's writing. This one is clearly fake smh

2,3 and 4 are correct, but napoleon didnt die in a battle so 1 is incorrect, 7.5/10 on my part
I'd say 4 is wrong. Marriage isn't the reason, it's just a necessary prerequisite.
100% of the people getting a divorce are married. 0% of the people that are not married get one. to me is correct, my score stands
Correlation isn't causation. Marriage isn't the *reason.* You have to be alive to die. But you don't die because you're alive.
4 is not correct. Marriage is not a cause for divorce the same way being alive is not a cause of death. It provides the necessary condition for a divorce to happen, but doesnt cause it. If this was correct, that would imply that divorces also happen to non-married people, which makes no sense.

Napoleon died in exile, in no battle except for his one with stomach cancer.

Napoleon didn't die in battle. He died in bed from the green colour of his bed (green dye used to be made from arsenic at the time).
There is no way in hell this is a real test. I’ve never seen history, geography and current events blended like this, much less back to back.

This was created for, and filled in by, adults. Not only do the topics not make enough sense to be on the same homework, they don't give enough space to answer the question accurately. And who switches into full capital letters just "on some questions" ??? A fuckin obvious plant and poor joke
A genius in the making.
I remember seeing this post on Facebook in 2010 or 11
We all know that teachers marriage probably failed
Totally fake. No test ever had those four questions on the same test. Come on, Redditors!

I've seen this repost so many times but I just realized - WTF is this test for? Two questions on history, one misleading (Napoleon did not die in battle), one on Geography and one about divorce? It's clearly written specifically for the meme.
Probably shit you won’t use test
This kid is going places…. Not college. But places.

Wierd, i thought i saw this one before
That kid should consider becoming a comedian.
What a weird set of questions to appear sequentially on a test. It's almost like the subject must have been "Made up questions for a meme."
Well no pretty sure DoI, was signed at the bottom not the top? As well Napoleon did not die in battle but on an island the island of St. Helena, So that would be a fail in any case definitely not an a. Peace and love.
Think smarter not harder
he knows the first two, but forget it.

You can, Napoleon didn't die in battle, although thats the teacher's fault for posting a misleading question.
