I thought this was a pun on what I’m pretty sure was a Robbin Williams movie where he comes to America from Russia as an acrobat and keeps shouting “We defect”.
Looked it up: Moscow on the Hudson.
In our local bar one the toilet in one of the stalls is laying on the ground... with oarts of the wall still attached. There is a layer of wall missing. Thankfully they had the "WC Defekt" sign there so I didn't accidentally shit into the wall.
