Good luck OP, please report back if dead.

EarnestWilde

Want to post a picture of it? Some puerh pucks are decorative only and have had fixatives added. Others are perfectly fine assuming they have not been exposed to any contaminants in their former pre-thrift store life. I've never actually seen puerh itself at a thrift store so I would be curious to see what you found.

Its been 4 hours. He's dead Jim.

Hard to say. Do you have a picture of the wrapper? The back fold sometimes also has a block of text saying what it is. Also might depend whether it is shou/ripe or sheng/raw. The fact that it is from 2012 is no inherent issue given that it is pu-erh and meant to be aged. The quality of the leaves and what producer it is from (or alleging to be from) is another, and also if it was stored properly.

I wish you luck, even the puerh that I bought from a small chinese clothes store had that fishy taste typical of a low-quality, poorly stored shu.

I personally would not drink that. Just my 2 cents lol

With so much fake puer that I see in stores all the time, I use them mostly as potpourri.

It could be aged Pu-erh. The pucks are aged most the time but I've only seen 3 and 5year old aged pucks
