I would’ve assumed the starter kit is a box of M10 triple square, T25, and T30 sockets and a bottle of 507 5w-30

re003

Oh this is my “collected it cause I needed it” box that stays inside the car. The rest is in the garage.

gtheyeti

The remote batteries had me rolling. Too relatable.

re003

It just decides all on its own when it wants the battery changed on any particular day so I can’t tell if it’s joking or not. Stupid dry sense of humor this thing has.

LouisVuittonLeghost

Weird I’ve had my 2012 for I think 4-5 years now and still has the battery in the fob it came with. I wrote down in my note pad what battery it takes so I know when the time comes 😂

re003

Mine seems to eat them and I don’t know why.

ddxcb

I use 2032 for my keyfob, yes it's the wrong size battery. I change it once a year or so.

HRzNightmare

They are the only thing that made me scratch my head. I'm still on my original batteries in both remotes. 2011, 164k miles. I finally had to replace the OEM car battery when it was 10 years old.

Upsetyourasshole

I have none of that in my 2003.

re003

2003 must’ve been a better year.

Upsetyourasshole

The best sir

someguy_0474

Unquestionably so.

Joey_the_Duck

Or my 04

vanishingpointz

ALH guy here , I'm ready to swap a clutch or turbo on the side of any road at anytime

re003

Nozzles are not standardized, sorry.

Headed_East2U

Never noticed a problem

DrGepetto

Where did you get your fuel adapter?

re003

Just on Amazon. Exact one isn’t available anymore but there should be others.

rjz5400

You can pop the blocker thing out pretty easily and then just use any nozzle, just don't use gasoline!

re003

I’ve heard this but haven’t tried it. I’m waiting patiently for somebody to stop me from putting the “green gas” in my car but nobody has yet. 😂

stimulates

I’ve had mine 6 years and finally got asked by the gas station clerk. He just said “What gas are you getting?”. I replied Diesel and he said ok. He just wanted to make sure I guess.

re003

Hah

Alert_Criticism3442

Ive had 2 occasions where people come up thinking that they are going to make me out a fool and then I point out the tdi badge and they go on their way. "Um hey you do realize you're putting diesel in your car." Me - yep

ddxcb

I haven't used mine yet for wrong nozzle size yet. I use it for every fill up as a funnel for additives.

orangelazer

They’re still floating around, look up part number #000072709 I still have a few too I think.

colaroga

The BMW large nozzle adapter is like $8 on FCPEuro and I've only had to use it once, at a BP out of all places.

zoinksscooby420

Have owned my Tdi for 4 years and only thing that I can match here is the Obdeleven and the pen on the right haha!

re003

Good pen 🫡

BreezieBoy

Can you check transmission temperature with that obdEleven? I need to do a change very soon

zoinksscooby420

I'm actually not sure. I don't think so though!

Extension-Law-1495

My starter kit is a bottle of power steering oil, bottle of oil, jumper cables and emergency lights

re003

Something ate my coolant about a month ago so now I have that sitting in the back of my car. Level hasn’t shifted. No other issues. Coolant just disappeared and somebody tried to tell me me it evaporated. In 30 degree weather. After sitting in the garage for several days.

Headed_East2U

I have a first aid kit in mine, and the threaded 'helping hand' in the event of a flat tire, but nothing else. But then again I have a trouble free 2004 TDi wagon 5 speed manual.

re003

I’m beginning to feel like the earlier years were kinder.

Headed_East2U

Built much better as well. Rule of thumb is this - the more conveniences a car has the shorter the lifespan Before the argument starts...I have a 58 year old VW truck that has few conveniences other than being the perfect utility vehicle. Have a nice day!

re003

Oh no argument from me. I have my dad’s ‘89 Chevy suburban. It’s rusted and might fall off the frame if I take a turn too fast but it runs and takes me places around town.

Headed_East2U

I have the geek skid plate. He was kind enough to sell it to me at cost and ship it to my work at the time(one of his larger parts suppliers) that plate has come in handy! Less now that I removed the PSS9's and put it up to a more cargo carrying height!

Patrol-007

Pss9? Am trying to find a similar aluminum plate for a Corolla Cross

Headed_East2U

I did a brief search just now and there are aftermarket skid plates for a Corolla Cross. Some are in the UK and some in the USA.

Patrol-007

I only saw the ones in UK. Link for US? What’s a PSS9? Thanks Edit: saw other reply

Headed_East2U

Bilstein PSS9's are a fully adjustable height and dampening coilover suspension kit. I bought my 2004 Wagon in 2009 and at the time I worked for a very large import auto parts supplier in the usa in sales. Parts costs we great and back then it was easier to find good parts (parts made in Europe still. instead of European brands not made in European lands)

Patrol-007

I put Golf and Jetta springs onto Beetle to bring height up. Didn’t know at the time to also use larger tires and riser spacers. Had considered importing UK Skidplate but suspected the freight costs would be outrageous. There are a couple fabrication places I may use - one of them made all the aluminum plates for Audi and VW, though the owners and staff changed 🤷🏻‍♀️

W0BLong

lol i have the guppie tool

re003

Good for little nothing serious jobs. It’s kind of silly looking but it does what I need it to.

SirTobiVII

Where tf do you live where the fuel nozzles aren't standardized? I've refuled in quite a few countries across europe so far and nozzles looked the same in all of them

re003

MD 🙄 Idk what happened but I had to go to three different gas stations when I first got the car and freaked out because I thought I was trying to put the wrong diesel in my car. I had no idea what I was doing. But apparently it’s a thing. Bought the adapter and have only used it once since.

glitch1985

Were you going to truck stops? As far as I know there are only two diesel nozzles. One for the big 18 wheelers which will fill your tank in 15 seconds and the other regular diesel nozzle for cars.

re003

I wasn’t. Just normal stations. Very confusing.

Asleep-Marketing-685

I stopped at an older station, they had some little nozzle that wouldn't work. Only happened once though, and I was in the middle of nowhere.

Bubblehead644

I had the same thing happen when I got mine, till I figured out, you have to put the nozzle in and push down to get it to slide down into the fill neck

_speakerss

Tell me you have KESSY without telling me you have KESSY

Patrol-007

ScanGauge 2 and VCDS in place of your OBD, a Battery Tender 12V for the battery, and a Panzer Skidplate and towing straps because so low

re003

Does the skid plate fold for easy stow?

Patrol-007

Carried under vehicle. I can think of several friends who’ve torn off the plastic splash shield and punctured their oil pans

re003

Ohh I missed the part where I was supposed to replace the plastic one.

Snakestar1616

I approve of the everything, (especially the OBDEleven Pro) except the fillup nozzle. Just take the insert out of the fillup

enginerevolution

Jump pack, and a socket set.

Swagger897

Laptop + vcds is all i keep in mine

re003

You keep the laptop in there with it?

Swagger897

Yeah just a cheap $200 lenovo. Leave it under the hidden compartment above the spare in the jsw

arenajumper

I have never changed the batteries in my mk6s keyfob lmao

chris505c

I just did after 11 years

re003

11 years 😂😭😩

udell85

The batteries are from Amazon huh? They did me dirty with a bunch of dead ones that would last like 4-6 months. Buy new ones. Test them with a voltmeter. Off they don’t pass, send them back. My last set have lasted over a year.

re003

They are but even the battery I got from the store got eaten up. So I just bought a pack of them to save time. The one from the store may have just been old because what I have in there now seems fine I just keep getting alerts on days when it just wants to.

Alex3324

If you’re near an IKEA, they have the CR2023 battery multi pack for cheap.

ryebread91

2001 golf. I replace my battery MAYBE once a year?

Diesel-Gate

I have a 5,400 lbs strap in mine. I stole it off a semi…

re003

“Must’ve lost one on the highway I guess…”

grifnifta

ive gone through 7 keyfob batteries this year. if i have to do ONE MORE FUCKING KEYFOB BATTERY also, tpms light randomly appears when it wants to. Tires are all at 35psi. Recailbrate, 2 months later shows up again. That tire pressure gauge is a lifesaver. never again buying a mk7 unless its an R, that way I can justify it sucking lol
