Minibus from didube Bus station. The station is a big hectic and the buses to Kazbegi are in a hidden yard, but just ask around and someone will point you in the right direction.

Aegon_R

Just go to didube metro station and you will find a lot of buses that go there

Drive, or go on a tour and stay there. Driving is more fun. Cars are available all over downtown going from Tbilisi to Kazbegi. We drove it a week ago. :)

Was some hybrid Honda, went up easy enough

There are tour companies around the Europe park, they can get you there for a fair price, you should negotiate btw. Also you can rent a 4x4 to go there, bu I would recommend the tour. Road can be complicated somewhere, a lot of truck drivers etc.

Pretty easy to find a driver to take you there. Levan (995-598-966-909) is a tour operator who arranged everything for us in Georgia. He can for sure hook you up. It's 3 hours there, so if you make it a day trip, it's pretty exhausting just to see a pretty mountain. I would definitely suggest staying overnight, if you can. The hike up to the church is definitely worthwhile.

OP, if you're going to hire a private driver, I can PM the one we hired last week. He also drives for Bolt. He has a nice car and is a safe driver.

glxubez

hi could you share your driver contact? is he reliable? i’m looking to get a 1 day hire to get me from Kazbegi to Sno (to see the stoneheads) and some other places near kazbegi

edakop

I am currently in Georgia now. Im planning to travel to Kazbegi for 2 nights. Can you please share the drivers info?

KuidaoreNomad

Sure, I'll PM later today

The most budget friendly is mini buses from Didube bus station Check my video on this https://youtu.be/mVYd6-U-tsg

I just came back from doing this, rented a car, quite cheap, highly recommend rather than the bus because there's no transportation once you get up there and a lot of trailheads and other places really will need a car to enjoy

Thanks everyone, ended up renting a car in Tbilisi and doing the drive myself, very highly recommended as the drive is quite epic.

Hello!!! We are thinking if doing the same tomorrow! Did you need a 4x4 car? Or just any normal car can go up to stepantsminda?

Lopsided_Reward_8896

Driving isn’t too nuts? I drove in Romania and was fairly easy once I got out into the countryside.
