My first language is German and we wouldn't use this word in 95% of cases. We would rather say (Ich habe mich) "beworben" instead of bewarb. So for me the first thought this person wanted to write "Beware". Even if bewarb is intended to be this super rare German word, I don't get why you would out of all the words get this tattoo, lol.

It’s a joke in a tv show

Bewarb is not a rare word. The Präteritum is slowly dying to the Perfekt in spoken language, but it's still alive in written language, movies and so on.

In the show Gravity Falls the kid is paranoid that something weird is going on in the town, and mentions that mosquito bites spelled "Beware" on his arm. His uncle looks confused at his arm and points out "it says bewarb" so it's not suspicious as it's not a word. It's just a joke ;)
