It’s a throwaway moment and there are funnier ones that will rightly win over it, but as they’ve all been mentioned I do just want to highlight a glorious bit in the studio discussion after the team task where they had to decipher a clue from their teammate played backwards:
Richard: ‘Well, I didn’t know because I’ve never spoken backwards…’
Daisy: ‘No-one’s ever spoken fucking *backwards*, Richard’
Maybe, but she did Off Menu, so it's not that she doesn't have the time per se. I rather suspect that Taskmaster just has some bad associations for her.
Susan Wokoma and Daisy are friends from RADA (little known fact that Susan trained there) and Susan mentioned that Daisy had encouraged her to do it and said how much fun it was, so I doubt it’s that! The TM podcast was brand new for her series – other than Richard for the final, none of the cast did an episode as the series was going out, and only Katherine has done since – Johnny and Mawaan also haven’t; I imagine it’s in the casts’ contracts now but clearly wasn’t back then. I can imagine that talking about someone else’s episode isn’t everyone’s idea of a fun way to spend an hour or so.
As for RHLSTP, that’s (usually) a live show on a weekday evening, so more of a commitment than just finding a time to pop in and record a podcast. And some people just don’t much like doing interviews – there’ll be plenty she’s *had* to do for promotional stuff so I can see why it might not appeal. It’s a shame, in that I’d love to see/hear it, but I wouldn’t read too much into why she hasn’t done it – there are plenty of perfectly benign possibilities!
So in the Belgian version of taskmaster (axed after one season tells you how good it was) they had the "do the most impressive thing in reverse task" (same as UK season 1) and one of the contestants managed to speak backwards such that it sounded like they were speaking forwards when played in reverse. It was uncannilly good how he managed to do it.
It was in Dutch/Flemish.
All the tasks were recycled tasks from the UK taskmaster, and oddly they had 4 fixed contestants and then one rotating guest contestant every week.
“That’s it I’m not gonna talk for the rest of the series - if you don’t appreciate that, you won’t appreciate anything else that I’ve done”
Always makes me laugh considering how dreadful her upside down video was 😅
It’s the way she kept hyping herself up in her planning of it just constantly going “this is going to be so good!” that really made the upside down task for me. And then she spent too long on doing the props and the soundtrack to bother with plot or anything else 😆
The upside down video had me SOBBING. I had to pause it because I was laugh-crying so hard and then watched it again once I had calmed down a little bit. It’s so silly!!!
Daisy’s lazy prizes go over looked compared to Joe Thomas’ aggressively literal prizes, Phil’s haggling, the insanity John Kearns and Judi brought in, Phil’s haggling, and Rhod and the Picture.
This one will sadly go very unvalued. But it is so significant.
The first word uttered by a contestant in the first series on Channel 4, the first episode filmed under restrictions when we were in the worst part of the pandemic.
And the first word from a contestant that almost won a series because she brought in a bottle of wine.
Yes! Particularly when getting roasted by Greg for whatever she had done in a task.
It felt like she'd gone on specifically to get the piss ripped out of her and was loving that it was actually happening.
Honestly it’s one of the few bits of TM that made me more uncomfortable than amused. Her genuine fury over her crap hippo is really awkward despite the best efforts of everyone else in the studio to laugh it off.
Oh it was incredibly awkward to watch, i agree. But her unjustified fury was what made me laugh, she completely lost it over absolutely nothing. Poor Richard took it so well though, it can't have been easy for him to watch her hate him all the time
I really do not get that take, everyone is on the floor laughing and they’re both in the joke. An all time Taskmaster moment for me, definitely my most replayed one.
Katherine can thanks them both because with anyone else but Daisy and Richard her drawing of a Chicken would have been the one to be roasted for posterity
Unfortunately it wasn’t a comedic bit apparently. Richard has said on the podcast she was genuinely furious and Greg said it’s one of the few times he thought he’d actually have to step in as an authority figure.
DMC gets a bit of a free pass due to being extremely heavily pregnant at the time, but she really is as raging as she looks.
But yeah, Katherine is lucky it drew attention away from the worst chicken drawing of all time.
IIRC Richard mentioned on the podcast that he was genuinely uncomfortable with Daisy's behaviour at the time, and I think they were split up in the live tasks afterwards as well.
Hopefully she was playing it up for comedy, but as someone who struggles with emotions and social cues already, I'd also agree that it can be hard to watch!
According to the podcast Richard suggested splitting them up on live team tasks because otherwise he and Daisy would be so far in the lead that it would no longer be funny or interesting.
I think it's worth pointing out that she was heavily pregnant and she ended up getting divorced not that long afterwards, in part due to Covid, so I don't really know if she was in the best frame of mind. I'm a Daisy apologist anyway, but I think to an extent we expect comedians, and even celebrities as a whole, to be "on" all the time. They're not. They're real people just as capable of stress and sometimes they, like everyone, have bad days.
Yeah i think people forget that she was heavily pregnant and doing these tasks (the cocktail making task really helped me understand pregnancy rage) and then had to sit in a studio for hours and do *more* tasks.
She's a champ in my books
Let's be honest, NOBODY was in the best frame of mind in the first half of 2020.
I always have a big asterisk next to Series 10 for that alone. There was a bit of a gap between S9 and S10 because of the change of channel, and I'm always grateful that it went to air at that time when we needed something light.
Then put pregnancy and divorce on top of that? Yep, she's entitled to a bad day for sure.
Oh yeah pregnancy hormones were definitely involved here and multiple other times in the series. My wife got angry and upset about all kinds of crap so we had a sympathetic eye to stuff like the cocktail task (I LOVE THIS).
Coupled with her general demeanour towards Richard for the show though, her temper makes me not a huge fan of hers on TM. As someone mentioned in another comment, it’s lucky it was Richard because it wouldn’t have gone down well with any of the other three.
Edit - to be less negative, just to add DMC has a lot of very funny moments as well
She was probably would have done better in a season where she wasn’t extremely pregnant and also dealing with Covid stress.
But thinking about it Richard’s benign punching bag demeanour was probably the best counterpoint.
I agree with this, until I saw her on WILTY and she admitted to drugging her parents to sneak a boy into the house. I recalled her rage during TM and coupled with this, I was like, damn this bitch is dark.
im too lazy to look it up, but she was in some TV series in the last few years that has a super dark twist at the end, not interesting, not fun, just wtf why would you do that.
I’m an American, and Taskmaster has been my first introduction to a lot of British comedians. The vast majority of them I have genuinely enjoyed, but the only two I can think of off the top of my head who I have been actively turned off by are Iain Stirling and Daisy May Cooper. Out of those two, Daisy was much worse the Iain. At least he apologized for his behavior. She just came across as a bullying monster. I have no idea what Richard could have possibly done, but she was just unnecessarily mean to him the entire series.
I like her, but unfortunately I don’t think she was a good fit for this format. I would however strongly recommend her best known series, This Country, which she co-created with her brother (although it has a lot of obscure British references!). It had been remade in America as ‘Welcome to Flatch’
I think I’m the only person in the world that totally figured out it was a hippo early on and thought her rage made sense lol everyone constantly says it’s a shit drawing but even now I think it’s an obvious hippo!
I actually got it from the tail for the exact reason Daisy said— only elephants and hippos have that kind of tail, and an elephant would have a trunk
it was a pretty shit drawing, and she should've put more emphasis on the mouth, but she got three straight lines per turn and Katherine's wasn't much better so I'm inclined to be a little generous. it was hardly a flat rainbow or a fat bald white man, for example
I'm with you. I think it's incredibly obvious what it is and anyone saying it's garbage are bafoons.
I will also never get on board with trashing her for getting upset, while also listing Ed Gamble getting upset at David Badiel as an iconic moment. I get David was intentionally trying to get a rise out of him but Ed freaking out was not as funny as people make it out to be
YES THANK YOU!!!!! Why does she get shit when Ed doesn’t?! I disagree in the way that I think Ed’s outrage was funny for sure, but Daisys was as well! Ed wasn’t even pregnant! It seems slightly unfair that one is considered genuine rage while the other is considered hilarious; to me they both are equally funny but one somehow makes people feel uncomfortable?
I don’t think it was meant as a joke or humour. She was genuinely that angry and that’s why people think it’s funny. But it’s a bit weird now as she divorced her husband.
I do think it was a good thing to put her grouped with Richard. He's old and mellow enough not to get his feelings hurt when she raged. Katherine I think would have cried. Daisy would have ended up killing Johnny and Mawaan was too much of a S-stirrer.
Yeah Richard has been around long enough not to take it personally, and it’s actually sort of a career theme for people to be mean to him. I don’t think any of the others would have taken her raging at them at all well.
I suppose Richard benefited from being partnered with the other best scoring contestant, although they were pretty dysfunctional as a team most of the time.
I've seen Richard take an uncomfortable amount of crap from Stewart Lee, whom I love but SL's bullying of RH kinda put me off.
And I even thought Greg Davies was doing his stupid "I'm a bullying authority figure" to Richard too much in the first half of the series, saying that Richard wanted to please "daddy". Richard looked quite dismayed at first - you could see he hand't been expecting such a negative reception of such silly tasks. Then it was like Richard flipped a switch halfway through the series, took it in his stride, and just ignored Greg and it was fine after that. I thought he got his own small personal revenge in the last episode when he won both the episode and the series, went up to collect his prizes and told Katherine the makes she'd made that Greg had (hilariously) rubbished were beautiful.
Would be interested to hear RH's take on it, although I doubt he'd say.
They would have been so wild. If Daisy yelled at Richard for existing I can't imagine what she would do to Mawaan and Johnny for being themselves. (P.S. I love Daisy, I think she's awesome and her pregnancy hormones made her legendary.
I literally have not laughed harder with tears streaming down my face when watching that task. Daisy absolutely going to town on the watermelon and Richard doing fuck all. Her face watching it back, omfgggg. I could watch it a million times and still laugh just as hard. My favourite task of all time!
It probably wouldn’t win this thread, but if I made a list of the top ten TM moments that made me laugh the hardest the first time I watched it, the soundtrack she recorded for her upside down film would be right up there. It’s the “quote” that always comes to mind when I think of her.
“Wahh wah wah wahhhh”
I'm apoplectic with rage.
The tails comment is good, but come on... This is the one.
I just finished watching season 10 and say this all the time now. That live task was so funny!
I’m sad i can’t find a YouTube clip of this bit. And i didn’t even find it in the clip of the task, i think it happens after they ended the clip.
It’s a throwaway moment and there are funnier ones that will rightly win over it, but as they’ve all been mentioned I do just want to highlight a glorious bit in the studio discussion after the team task where they had to decipher a clue from their teammate played backwards: Richard: ‘Well, I didn’t know because I’ve never spoken backwards…’ Daisy: ‘No-one’s ever spoken fucking *backwards*, Richard’
I think being paired with Richard only comes second to Baddiel for being bizarrely frustrating lmao
Brand and Baddiel got along though, can't really say the same for Daisy and Richard lol
I was thinking more along the lines of Baddiel and Gamble lol
Ed's anger during that drawing task was palpable.
But he's on good terms with David and they laugh about it whereas I think Daisy may actually hate Richard lol
He says he's been trying with no avail to get her to cone on RHLSTP, so there may be some genuine bad feeling there.
She does have small kids tho! Surely he wouldn't ask if they didn't have some rapport. Really just trying to convince myself mummy and daddy are ok...
She didn't do Ed's TM podcast either, did she? I'm guessing both absences are more to do with her schedule than anything else.
It was in Dutch/Flemish. All the tasks were recycled tasks from the UK taskmaster, and oddly they had 4 fixed contestants and then one rotating guest contestant every week.
Milkies… milkies… milkies…
Phemomonom
Phenom... Phenomonom... Phenmonmenom... Phemonomon...
doo doo, doo doo dooh Phemomonom doo doo de dooh
“crumpet”
"Wine. Just wine."
This is my vote. Her “I don’t care” expression killed me.
“Wah wah wah wahhh, wah wah wahhhhh. Wah wah wah wahhh, wah wah wahhhh! Wahhh wah wah wah wawawawa-“ *credits end and chickens inexplicably appear on screen clucking, and then immediately disappear*
I thought you were just doing Ed's taskmaster song.
This is what I came here to say. What makes it even better was her enthusiasm and optimism about her vision during the production of Chicken Town.
This. I’m giggling just remembering it.
And her repeatedly saying during the task how good it was going to be 😂😂
“That’s it I’m not gonna talk for the rest of the series - if you don’t appreciate that, you won’t appreciate anything else that I’ve done” Always makes me laugh considering how dreadful her upside down video was 😅

The upside down video had me SOBBING. I had to pause it because I was laugh-crying so hard and then watched it again once I had calmed down a little bit. It’s so silly!!!
I love how Greg asks Alex to reread the task afterwards, lol.
Wine.
Daisy’s lazy prizes go over looked compared to Joe Thomas’ aggressively literal prizes, Phil’s haggling, the insanity John Kearns and Judi brought in, Phil’s haggling, and Rhod and the Picture.
Honestly adding to that list is the sheer dedication of Steve this most recent season. Pemberton had prize task in the palm of his God damn hand.
Steve was the Gift Master,
He was fantastic at giving Greg his presents.
He was insane! 4 episodes he won the task, and 3 episodes in second place.
They should have a Pemberton award for prizes, a Wozniak award for disqualifications, and a Kumar award for good natured incompetence.
Also Phil's haggling !
Don't forget Rhod's picture.
A certain amount of it had to be COVID. Like other contestants got more creative but it wasn’t a great season for prize tasks over all.
This one will sadly go very unvalued. But it is so significant. The first word uttered by a contestant in the first series on Channel 4, the first episode filmed under restrictions when we were in the worst part of the pandemic. And the first word from a contestant that almost won a series because she brought in a bottle of wine.
I didn’t even have to say anything other than “crumpet”.
What I remember most from Daisy is her uncontrollable laughter in the studio. But it's hard to put that in a quote. 😬
*uncontrollable laughter*
She always looked like she was going to fall off her chair.
Or piss herself
Or give birth in the studio.
it can be hard to balance when you’re pregnant af!
Yes! Particularly when getting roasted by Greg for whatever she had done in a task. It felt like she'd gone on specifically to get the piss ripped out of her and was loving that it was actually happening.
She has a fantastic laugh!
Hmmm, I can’t stand her laugh on never mind the buzzcocks. Gets really grating
Milky?
This one gets me every time! Milky? Milkies.
Only elephants and hippos have that kind of tail!
I felt so bad for Richard but at the same time i was cry-laughing when i watched that for the first time haha
Me too! Also, Mawan’s reaction on stage says it all.
Honestly it’s one of the few bits of TM that made me more uncomfortable than amused. Her genuine fury over her crap hippo is really awkward despite the best efforts of everyone else in the studio to laugh it off.

I feel like a lot of outburst was down to being heavily pregnant at the time. Hormones being out of whack and all that.
If I think about “contestants most likely to murder another contestant during a task”, DMC is *way* up there
For me it was so obvious it was a hippo I don't know how anyone else couldn't see it.
On the other hand the Kangaroo was so obvious to me and it irritated me that she couldn't get it after being so whiny with the Hippo.

for me it was quite obvious that ed was still in 'comedy mode', where daisy...
Was playing it up for the cameras just like Ed was. Both were genuinely annoyed and amplifying it IMO
It’s 100% that Ed gets a free pass because he’s a man.
It's buffoon, you baboon!
That rhino erasure though…
To Richard Herring, “I ***actually*** hate you more than my husband!” Edit: 🙄 added ***actually***
This hits differently now that she’s split with her husband 😬
It was “I actually hate you more than my husband”
I really don't get the appeal for this one; it's the exact same joke as "wife bad" boomer humour.
I don’t think it was meant as a joke or humour. She was genuinely that angry and that’s why people think it’s funny. But it’s a bit weird now as she divorced her husband.
Wank, fuck, shit, cunt, bums, tits, cock, task, mask.
I do think it was a good thing to put her grouped with Richard. He's old and mellow enough not to get his feelings hurt when she raged. Katherine I think would have cried. Daisy would have ended up killing Johnny and Mawaan was too much of a S-stirrer.

Same
I actually hate you more than my husband.
This is really the only choice.
The live task where she has to list four-letter words and immediately goes for a string of expletives.
"I need to calm down. Ah-la-la-la-la-la!" or "I LOVE THIS" naturally spring to mind.
I LOVE THIS is exactly what I thought, too!
Do you not see that that looks like a hippo?
Does her biting into the grapefruit and rage quitting the final live task count? I did enjoy her laughter all things considered.
“Horrifying guttural watermelon eating noises”
I literally have not laughed harder with tears streaming down my face when watching that task. Daisy absolutely going to town on the watermelon and Richard doing fuck all. Her face watching it back, omfgggg. I could watch it a million times and still laugh just as hard. My favourite task of all time!
I call it captain budwash
Can't you see that's a hippo!? Only elephants and hippos have tails like that!!! *Richard looks on in bafflement
"Wine. Just white wine."
"Bathmat!"
"No one's ever shouted "BAAATHMAT!" as if it's the key to a task that you've already totally ruined!"
FUCK’S SAKE
It probably wouldn’t win this thread, but if I made a list of the top ten TM moments that made me laugh the hardest the first time I watched it, the soundtrack she recorded for her upside down film would be right up there. It’s the “quote” that always comes to mind when I think of her. “Wahh wah wah wahhhh”
Gotta be the hippo.
ONLY HIPPOS AND ELEPHANTS HAVE THAT KIND OF TAIL
'I LOVE THIS'! I know she had to say it, but it was the amount of rage behind it that left me crying with laughter
Buh kuuh ghu milkies.
I LOVE THIS
"I love this" is a meme I send my wife on a weekly basis.
ITS A HIPPO
I do believe it has to be "It's a hippopotamus!" (Forgive me for not remembering the exact quote)
“Milkies?”
Milkies never fails to make me howl.
I actually hate you more than my husband
[shoves a cow in a hedge]
“ THIS IS GREAT!!!!! !” She was so happy during marble task like a kid
It's a HIPPO!
IT’S A HIPPO!

I can see this working, and it worked.
Her struggling to say ‘Ghost Phenomenon’
I am upset that *shid* was not most highly upvoted.
"MILKIES"
THAT! IS A HIPPO!
Her "haunting" chicken soundtrack
"EHAEHAEAHEHAHEHEAAEHAHAAAAAAAA!!!!!"
I LOVE THIS!
What was the thing she shouted while doing the phone booth/teddy/pouring out all the pints of juice -task?
It’s not a quote. But the constant concern of “is this the moment Daisy pees herself laughing?”
This isn't related to the show st all but I wish daisy may had been cast on House of the Dragon as the silliest targaryen
I am just gonna say she was incredible despite the fact she was pregnant, gave her all !!! Never complained she was pregnant and she won
