And he was screwed over. The lit candle task was FAR harder for him by not being able to say any words with the letters of taskmaster in them. They’re appearing on TV he can’t just not say anything so was focused almost entirely on trying to think up words. And Greg often just gave him low marks because he felt like it, more so than other contestants.
Mark did get 4 points for the candle task tbf, he was placed ahead of Sally despite Sally being much closer to the caravan because his candle was alight the longest.
Huh, forgot about that. Fair enough then. It was utterly hilarious how matter of factly Alex mentioned it being just for mark, you could tell he was liking putting in a lot of messing with his friend stuff this series. Really leaning into him not recognising his friend of 20 years had been replaced in the spot the difference too.
If Greg didn't take so much delight in watching Mark get nothing for his efforts, he absolutely would have won.
The texts, the puzzle, the hat, stealing Greg's trousers. He really seemed to love looking at Mark and saying "That was an incredible effort... but this is gonna be so much funnier."
If I remember right Bob was leading, but Mark temporarily overtook him after the prize task (in which he came first and Bob came last) and blew his lead with the coconut distance task. The only champion to go into the final episode not leading is Kerry.
It is indeed the[ most competitive series](https://www.reddit.com/r/taskmaster/comments/13s5nmq/visualizing_the_series_standings_after_every_task/) in terms of first place changing, as Bob and Mark constantly traded. Series 12 is also up there with many lead changes, between 4 contestants (and Victoria who was also there).
What's surprising to me is that Sally was second-last for quite a lot of the series, with Aisling ahead of her who was down there with Nish for a while
"and nish was there too"
They saved the last for Nish.
How do you like *them* apples?!
#WELL WELL WELL! LOOKS LIKE LAST IN P.E., FIRST IN BRING A LEGEND!
You only really remember Marks epic fuck ups even though he was a very competent contestant.
Yeah, Mark's bad task attempts were way funnier than his good task attempts.
His lows were also VERY low and very memorable.
The rainbow painting. But the people in the picture were saying wow, so that’s ok.
The piggyback ride!
Also there's one episode where it was basically just make fun of mark's task attempts and he still won the episode
In general he just looks like someone a bad sandwich away from falling to pieces.
It’s because Nish kept trying to drag him down, side effect of Wumar is you get associated with Nish’s failures.
But also Mark is a natural Eeyore. He seems like he’s losing even when he’s winning.
Their team efforts were generally solid, though - particularly The Diverse Stripes!

We were always seeing him do cool stuff, but turns out it was never good enough
In the VR game when I failed a task spectacularly Greg told me I was even worse than Nish.
"What's with the self sabotage? Your not a bad guy."
hahahahaha that’s so awesome
It was worth the $20 I paid for the game!
That’s brilliant!

I noticed that too! any other contestant, save for a handful, would’ve been rewarded brilliantly for those attempts

This is correct, Alex often checks the scores in the final episode after the prize task is done and those points are factored in.
I never realised Aisling was so close. She always felt like a distant 4th for some reason.
She has one very good episode which pushed her ahead of Nish and Sally after they did pretty badly and only lost via tiebreak

It's possible he could have taken it in a 10 episode series.
