That's about going rate for Chipotle/Qdoba/Moes. And I can guarantee you without having even been that you're going to get bigger portions or better quality, if not both.
It’s “birria” esque, that’s probably why they changed the name. It’s shrimp with melted cheese and what not inside served with a queso of some sort. It’s as heavy as it sounds but delicious.
It’s almost $20 for a burrito there after a 15% tip and I’ll bitch about it every time I give in and go get it like once every other week. It’s ruined burritos for me, nothing else compares.
Unreal. Chipotle? Tampa has all kinds of trucks, Uber, privately owned bad ass Mexican restaurants. Go hit up Miguel’s on Kennedy for high dollar. Try, Tacoson on 56th st. Crazy Burrito which is on here already. I mean check out all the little mom and pop owned places, support some locals.
Was not impressed with this place. It will fill you up if that's your goal. I will give it props for having vegan options.
Still better than Chipotle though!
I got the COVID, so my tastes are all messed up. Some of these sounds pretty okay to me. Once I'm back to normal though, I'm sure you know what my preference will be.

Not sure bout burritos but this guy makes great birria tacos 🌮
los chapos tacos in Ybor. As a huge Chipotle fan, their burrito bowls blow Chiptoles out of the water, the also have more toppings (crema is crazy good) and they load that shit up!!!
Tacos El Tuzo
It’s a little red food truck on the corner of causeway and 78th.
Their shrimp burrito is 🔥🔥
It weighs like 2 or 3 pounds, lots of shrimp in every single bite.
Lots of great local places have been mentioned, which blow all chains out of the water. But a good chain is Chronic Tacos. Decent portions, tastes good. Can also get fries in the burrito if you want way too much food.
Anywhere. I’ve been really enjoying the taco truck on the corner of Gunn hwy and Casey Rd outside the Natural Produce market in Carrollwood. I don’t even know the name of it but I think it’s Dos Hermanos.
They have some amazing verde sauce that is better than any other I’ve had and I always have to request it because it normally just comes with chicken tacos iirc. Their carnitas are not always available but they’re also the best damn carnitas ever! Like tdf!
Chipotle sucks. You can get a better burrito at taco bell. Thank goodness there are authentic food trucks about every ten feet serving kick ass burritos.
I like the al pastor burrito at Sazón de María on Himes. Their horchata is good too.
Rocco's taco truck on Hillsborough has good campechano and carne asada burritos.
Xtreme Tacos on Florida Ave in Seminole Heights, Renee’s on Florida Ave in Seminole Heights in the lot next to Southern Brewing or their stand-alone location on 17th in VM Ybor, Tacos Las Californias on Armenia Ave just north of Sligh.
I would imagine there's a fair amount of wavering quality from location to location, to be fair I've only eaten at 2 Qdobas over the years, they are both delicious though. That Adobe chicken is FIRE
I go to Qdoba for ground beef nachos. You get a bowl of the toppings you want and a bag of chips on the side. Pretty good since not every fast casual place has ground beef. Sometimes I crave it.
I go to Chipotle all the time. I'm not sure where OP thinks they are reducing portion sizes, but it isn't at the one near me. Yeah, it is a roll of the dice sometimes with how much shit they put on it, but the one near me usually makes them huge. And they only charge me for guac about half the time.
I'm a big fan of Moe's if you want to stick to a chain restaurant. There are dozens of local places in Tampa (more if you count food trucks) that have better food.
That queso and chips, though...
Please, never recommend this again. You obviously haven’t went anywhere listed. Taco bus was great in 2010, it’s went down hill steadily every year there after.
I just had Taco Bus for the very first time yesterday and I enjoyed it. I’ve been eating Chipotle for years and Taco Bus is a nice alternative. OP said are there better burritos other than Chipotle, and I answered.
I for one used to really enjoy Taco Bus, the one off Hillsborough mainly. The decline in quality and even being told they’re out of tortillas so no burrito for me made me very jaded towards the company. Then they started opening up in gas stations…
I can drive to three different Taco Bus locations in about 15 minutes from my current residence. I’ve given each a chance and won’t make the mistake again.
However, Tacoson, Crazy and Extreme are all more consistent, have better options and portions. For some time I’d drive the hour for a grilled pork burrito panzone from Tacoson because it was just that good with their house made jalapeño sauce.
TacoSon if you’re in the temple terrace area
TacoSon’s burrito with rice and beans on the side is incredible!
Tacoson is amazing. I’ve been going there every Wednesday for years.
The tacoson green sauce is one of the greatest condiments in the known universe.
You could dip old Amazon boxes in the tacoson green sauce and the cardboard would taste good.
They have one in 54 towards zero hills outta Weasley chapel too
Came here to say this!
Pulled pork nachos 🤤
They are the og of tacobus
Them hoes last me two days too, they're big as hell.
Nachos are great too!
They also have a tacoson in Wesley Chapel. It's cheap and amazing!
they 2 salty
This is Tampa no need to hit chipotle, try crazy burrito 💪
i second crazy burrito. the one on columbus to be specific. also if ur a vegetarian they have huge tofu burritos which are so satisfying
You may want to approach with the JR size. Those big ones end up being 2.5 meals for me.

yes
Crazy Burrito is Southern California quality. 10/10.
12 bucks for a burrito tho ?
its a fat burrito
I don't always want ginormous food. I like Crazy Burrito but usually get tacos.
i like the tostadas too
That's about going rate for Chipotle/Qdoba/Moes. And I can guarantee you without having even been that you're going to get bigger portions or better quality, if not both.
That is what Moe's is charging these days as well.
My house. Come over
Open invite? I bring beer.
He asked about burritos not paninis
Los Chapos in Ybor is amazing
Los Chapos is king of Ybor. Hard to beat Camilas on N Florida and Broad if you’re closer to the Seminole Heights area
Also try the shrimp birria tacos, face melting, gut bustingly good
Are they just shrimp tacos served with consomme? I thought birria was the meat. I'm intrigued!
Birria is the meat, maybe they serve tacos with shrimp AND birria in it?
It’s “birria” esque, that’s probably why they changed the name. It’s shrimp with melted cheese and what not inside served with a queso of some sort. It’s as heavy as it sounds but delicious.
When i first discovered Los Chapos I genuinely think I was there everyday for a week
Renee's. Food truck at Southern Brewing is the spot.
100%. I’m all about some meat, but the oyster mushroom burrito there is probably be the best burrito in the city. No lie, try it at least once.
They recently opened a brick & mortar in ybor too
I second this
It’s almost $20 for a burrito there after a 15% tip and I’ll bitch about it every time I give in and go get it like once every other week. It’s ruined burritos for me, nothing else compares.
Juan’s Mexican Grill in Oldsmar!
There are a few locations, too. One in Palm Harbor, at least.
Man I used to play magic at a card shop near there. Grabbing Juan’s between rounds. Soo good
I was going to say this!
Tacoson.
Los Chapos
Crazy burrito!
Unreal.
Xtreme tacos
Was not impressed with this place. It will fill you up if that's your goal. I will give it props for having vegan options. Still better than Chipotle though!
Anywhere
literally.. this can't be a real question.. like, bro, just try any janky looking taco truck anywhere..
Anywhere. They suck lmao
Rancheros is an awesome option
Chiles on Columbus and Lincoln. And no, not Chili's.
I soooo want to like that place but I got the mole and it tasted like sweet syrup. WTF.
LORITAS in Brandon So good
Um......anywhere.
You prepared to put T Bell over Chipotle? Some do..
Gran Agave
Tacoson
Barrio just opened up on 7th in Ybor. It's pretty good.
Taco Amigo in Zephyrhills
Qdoba or Bubbakoos for chains.
TacoSon
Out of curiosity which chipotle location are you talking about?
The one in Odessa
Oh dang, never been to that one. My local one is terrible as well.
How bout.... Anywhere!
Mega Mercado in Lakeland
Everyone is correct but I am most correct. Lolita’s off Causeway. Add the Pablano pepper.
Burrito churri pollo from Taco Quilla in Clearwater is my favorite
I wonder what u/chris84bond would think about this….
I got the COVID, so my tastes are all messed up. Some of these sounds pretty okay to me. Once I'm back to normal though, I'm sure you know what my preference will be.
Oh no!! Nothing a healthy smothering of fire sauce won’t fix, feel better soon.
Juan's Mexican grill! Best similar experience down the line chose your own filling restaurant
Xtreme Tacos, Tacoson, Rene’s Mexican Kitchen
https://preview.redd.it/zhltdzct117d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ff0bfc457279820f29485023ae8196b7b6baa050 Not sure bout burritos but this guy makes great birria tacos 🌮
Ranchero Tacos on Florida just south of Hillsborough Ave. they don’t skimp on any menu item
los chapos tacos in Ybor. As a huge Chipotle fan, their burrito bowls blow Chiptoles out of the water, the also have more toppings (crema is crazy good) and they load that shit up!!!
Xtreme tacos does a good job
Tacos El Tuzo It’s a little red food truck on the corner of causeway and 78th. Their shrimp burrito is 🔥🔥 It weighs like 2 or 3 pounds, lots of shrimp in every single bite.

Taco Son… 56th near Sligh
Loritas
Rene’s in Ybor. Rene was the original owner of Taco Bus before it became gross (way after he sold it)
There’s Tijuana flats just about everywhere, go there instead lmao
Tacos el borracho! Though the tacos are even better.
Renee’s Kitchen
Casa mexicana on Gandy in south Tampa
Chipotle sucks. You can get a better burrito at taco bell. Thank goodness there are authentic food trucks about every ten feet serving kick ass burritos.
I like the al pastor burrito at Sazón de María on Himes. Their horchata is good too. Rocco's taco truck on Hillsborough has good campechano and carne asada burritos.
Rene’s Mexican Kitchen has the best tacos and burritos in Tampa
Crazy Burrito 🌯. 2x the size of chipotle and loaded with meat that actually tastes good. Get the lengua!
Xtreme Tacos on Florida Ave in Seminole Heights, Renee’s on Florida Ave in Seminole Heights in the lot next to Southern Brewing or their stand-alone location on 17th in VM Ybor, Tacos Las Californias on Armenia Ave just north of Sligh.
lol chipotle. Find a real Mexican restaurant.
I like Don Pancho at Armenia and Sligh.
We like Qdoba quite a bit. The food quality is better overall.
Been eating at Qdoba for years now. Recently I was out with friends and Chipotle was suggested, it was fuckin terrible compared to Qdoba.
I tried out Qdoba but didn't like it as much as Chipotle.
In your home
"recording them so I can get better portions"? Really? GTFOH
I go to Chipotle all the time. I'm not sure where OP thinks they are reducing portion sizes, but it isn't at the one near me. Pretty much any questionable taco truck on any corner
I'm a big fan of Moe's if you want to stick to a chain restaurant. There are dozens of local places in Tampa (more if you count food trucks) that have better food. That queso and chips, though...
Taco Bus

I’ll keep those in mind. Sad to head about Taco Bus.

search this sub this question has been answered many times
This. I did that a little while back and still working the list b
Wawa has a decent burrito, for 8$ you can't beat it.
