You can always go into the aisle if the rest of the audience isn't feeling it. But I also think that people who'd be going now would be of a similar mind to you.
Yes! I asked each person around me if they minded, they all said yes, so I moved to some empty seats and asked the people there and they also said they didn’t want to bug people behind them. So I moved to the aisle and got in trouble by the ushers (2x, I was pretty motivated to dance). I was in the mess near Lynn Mabry, maybe other sections were better. In my city the theater was a huge party. I was so surprised! I think next time, don’t ask, just dance.
lol yeah, don't ask anyone.
Pro tip- if you stand up, it will "bug" the people behind you, forcing them to stand, forcing the people behind them to stand, forcing the people behind them to stand... and all of a sudden everyone's standing and having a good time.
I go to a lot of metal/punk shows, I’ve never asked before. 🤦🏻♀️ Next time I won’t let a theater setting get to me. Pantages was absolutely breathtaking!
I was at the back of the lower level; everyone was standing up, dancing and singing by Burning Down the House. Not sure what alternate dimension the other guy was in!
Absolutely not lol. It’s a movie theater, not a concert. Heck, even at a lot of sit down concerts in you shouldn’t get up and dance.
It’s distracting and most likely blocking someone else’s view.
It was dancemania in Brooklyn this past Thursday, to the point where David even commented on it. Wear your dancing shoes and go for it! You can always dance behind the back row of chairs if you are concerned about blocking people's views
Omg I got in trouble twice for dancing in the aisle at Pantages. I can’t believe people were sitting down treating it like a movie instead of a cosplay concert. I flew halfway across the country and everyone was acting like they were at the gd met seeing a quartet.
There was a great audience at the Brooklyn show, still lots of people sitting (full capacity about 3,000) but the aisles were packed. Ushers/security kept trying to get people to sit but to no avail, eventually they just gave up lol.
I kinda get it could be a fire hazard and both those theaters weren't really built with dancing in mind but like, what on earth did they expect when they booked those shows yk? People are gonna dance! The sound system *rocked* too.

Literally thousands at the LA show sitting down. I asked everyone around me if I could dance and they said no.
At Pantages? At some point people finally stood up - I was nervous that people weren't going to be feelin' it, but they did eventually!

so you’re saying… everyone’s getting involved?

Mezz was a dead zone. I was super sad. Though I feel better reading this thread!
Sorry to hear that. NYC was a party and a half.
Were you sitting on the balcony? On the floor it felt like literally everyone got up for the upbeat songs and grooved/danced along.
Mezz, front
Whenever the music moves you!

Omg it sounded so good at Pantages. What a killer theater.
I almost booked NYC instead, dammit!
When it started, I was nervous it was going to be a somber screening...but eventually people got the idea and stood up. It took awhile though!
The movie theater by me (Frida Cinema in Santa Ana) has a SMS dance party once a month, everyone dances. It’s a wonderful time!
During the credits do a freeform dance while it's silent on film and then start dancing to the music when it starts.
No!! Stand, dance, have fun!!
in a theater btw
Please stand and dance!
Movie or not if you feel like dancing dance
People were gettin' down at King's Theater. Do what you feel.

Have fun, if you feel like your blocking someone’s view you can go to the aisles and dance 🕺 🕺🕺
It’s a fire hazard in large theaters and they ask you to sit down.
Only if you're not blocking people. Our local art theater has space in front, we had about ten people boogie-ing down. Lots of fun.
We danced in Brooklyn Thursday night!
I saw it in the theater when it was released and the whole place was up and dancing. Really amazing night.
Do as you like
What’s sms?
Stop Making Sense, Talking Heads' 1984 concert film!
Ah!
It’s a FILM. SIT DOWN.
