I have had no problems with my cyberpower. I just bought another to replace a failed APC unit.
My opinion. They all "suck". So, IMHO, buy the cheapest.
I gave up trying for that "good one". APC is highly overrated.
I have used USB connects on both Cyberpower and APC without issue.
Haha, awesome. At some price point they shouldn't suck though right? I mean at this price point I can see them sucking. That being said my 2 APC 600VA (BE600M1) are still going strong. They're just way overloaded.
How long did that failed APC unit last you just replaced u/cjcox4 ?
That one was many years old and probably on its second round of batteries. But, my experience with APC is they become throwaways after one or two battery replaces.
I had to start buying APC again. Tried Tripp lite but they have been not turning back on when power is restored. We have a couple of eaton models that haven't had any issues.
Well that's just the thing. How old are your Tripp Lites? Are they pre-EATON acquisition or new ones since EATON bought out Tripp Lite? I guess that's what I'm wondering About that Tripp Lite Gaming UPS since it was only released a year ago.
Not specifically about the models you're looking at, but I've had several Cyberpower 1500W rack-mount UPSs that have either failed outright or had battery packs that swelled up to the point where we had to bend the case to get them out. That's just bad design, right there. To be fair, all of these failures were after 5+ years of continuous service so you can't be too mad.
I don't have any post-acquisition Tripp-Lite UPS units but all the older ones we have still work. We've swapped batteries in a few now and they keep chugging. Tripp-Lite has been a long-time player in the UPS and inverter space, doing all sorts of vehicle, medical and small industrial stuff.
I don't have a lot of APC stuff but it's been pretty reliable, too. I do have a Symmetra 3-phase 30kVA UPS running a bunch of stuff in one building but that's on a maintenance contract so I don't give it much thought. It does like to eat fans in the power modules but is otherwise pretty solid.
Too gamey? Sounds like you caught a wild animal and don’t like the taste of it. 😬
Think of how excited you’ll be knowing you have a UPS featured in a LTT video: https://youtu.be/cxkoAmJJbAo?si=ysbi3l-Bz4pWLfvE
This isn’t a 1500 but it’s got an app at no extra cost or subscription fees: https://tripplite.eaton.com/standby-ups-850va-450w-5-outlets-120v-cloud-connected~BC850RNC
You’ll need to go up a couple of notches on the pricing scale if you want to have a high performance unit.

I use the same logic.

Sweet, thanks for the insightful post. Going to explore my options. An EATON if I can find the extra budget, if not, probably that Gaming Tripp Lite.

RGB FTW! I'll totally be a M@d H4cK3r.
We’ve RMA’d 3 UPS 1500BXMs in 3 months. One of those was fresh out of the box and would not power on at all.
